Primaris über fans and naysayers should be calm and chill out, this still doesn't herald the end of normal marines. Remember GW has stated new standard marines are still being created, plus there are regular marines all over the vigils video and in the artwork.

The 'Rubicon Primaris' upgrade thing cal gar has gone through may be a highly specialised process that can't be applied universally, more info is require before nay pronouncements are made!

To be fair, they haven't even hinted at a non-primaris space marine release since Dark Vengeance, so it's not an unreasonable conclusion to draw. Really, until we see another old marine release it's safer to err on the side of primaris only from now on.

We have seen old marine releases since primaris came out, series 1&2 of the space marine heroes. Not to mention several FW things. Or do those not count 'cause reasons'

Yup. I am hoping to see if they announce the Imperial Fists Upgrade Sprue.

Overall, this announcement was good. It means we will probably see some more resin characters done up in plastic.

That and Primaris don’t directly replicate any existing Marine units.

The reason we’re not seeing any new stuf for non-Primaris Marines is that barring the Bikes, that range is pretty modern, so don’t need replacing at the moment.

Well, that certainly answers a question. Primaris upgrades are definitely possible. The honour guard look great, and Calgar himself looks fine, even though I have to be honest that I slightly preferred his Terminator aesthetic (I'm sure we'll get some form of Primaris Terminator armour at some point).

The Chaos Lord looks a bit busy to me but ah well.

The GC bikers and buggies are ACE. I wonder if you'll be able to build GC snipers out of them too.

The titan looks very very bad.

The only thing I don't like from the new models is Calgar's pose, stupid fist in the air.

I have to agree. The model as a whole is nice, but the pose is clearly a nod to his first model. Which is fine but I feel compared to the chaos guy it's a little lacking

Always a welcome idea. Space Marines are always at their best viewed through the lens of an ordinary human. Personally I found it hard to maintain interest in the Horus Heresy novels once they stopped having remembrancers as major characters.

I’m loving everything I’m seeing except for Calgar. I just don’t like the pose.

I am glad that crappy old marines seem to be disappearing though. Those die hard s who claim that marines are fine, it’s just that other human minis are too big, are ignoring what awful sculpts the old marines are. They look like humans designed by an alien sculptor who’s never actually seen a human and is working from the vaguest of descriptions. Primaris, on the other hand, actually look like somebody could fit into that armour.

These GSC bikers are solid.

This harp Herald is a (Slaanesh) jewel.

These releases after BSF are definitely to be painful to my bank account!

He is just recreating his original miniature's pose. I am fine with this since this means if they update other characters to be Primaris, they will likely keep their original poses (for Pedro Kantor, this is important for me).

Surfing the Tervigon Wave...on a baby.

Can I just say how incredibly disappointed I am in all of this?

Brand New Marneus Calgar! (The fourth version of him!) Oooh, ahhh.

And here's Generic Chaos Lord Bob Nobody for him to smush!

Had the opportunity to drop two bombs on us and show us a new Abaddon and make us all drop our jaws....but nope. Generic Chaos Lord Bob Nobody.

Oh but look, here's a video with loads of Raptors! - yay, useless assault troops with 1 attack base!

Bleh.

Well, now that we know how the campaign ends - haha Feth You Chaos - let's look at the other interesting things.

GSC Bikers - very nice. Slap in the face to IG players who have wanted human scale bikes forever when they realise the one unit that could use these are Index only. Sad days.

Daemons - I'm neutral. Bout time they got rid of the odd units that were still finecast and fugly but I really want to see more Slaanesh stuff. Getting a bit antsy here.

Now only a CSM player.

Yes. You may not have noticed but they are not restricted to Japan anymore either, they have been released worldwide due to popular demand...

Just been talking to one of the guys that did the new "formations" book.

The book contains detachment "buffs" that you spend CP (i think only 1 but my interpretation of how he said things). You spend the cp on the different stratagems before the game to "buff" 1 detachment. All strats have different names so yoi could use it on more than 1 detachment. Each strat gives access to detachment bonuses like new strats. 1 example is the Stompa detachment that allows you to make 1 stompa a charatcher and give it a new wl trait and relics amongst "other things".

It doesn't sound like all the factions will have "formations" in this book. BUT this is numbered as "Book 1" on the spine, so we can expecy more soon.

At least 6 factions in it. Ad mech, Orks, Eldar, Marines, CSMs and i think GSC. Definite on the first 3 BUT the second 3 are off memory and i cant 100% remember

Hinted at December release.

Setup for "all forms of play".

Looking forward to see what they've done with the book, but also SUPER cautious about OP power creep that is almost 99% given. He did however say that they 100% learnt that free formations in 7th was a bad idea and they've learnt additional things.

Book was written over 12 months ago.

So it will be completely out of touch with the metagame, the power tiers and needs of the armies.

Calgar doesn't do much for me, I'm indifferent to most of this stuff. The Raptor Lord looks quite nice, but not enough that I would want one given I don't have any CSM.

The thing that I would find most interesting in this whole release is a new FW Titan, and I think it's ugly. So I guess I'm safe from desiring one.

Now this is interesting.

Detachments worry me because they helped break 7th.

Also if the book was written over 12 months ago they can't have used current data to balance it, which is....concerning.

Thanks for the info!

Love the Bikes - rest is ok I guess.

Looking forward to reading the novel. Chapter Serf pov should be good,

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

GSC codex
Astra Militarum data sheets
Some in there, things you can use last year can be used

They have tried to make it so it doesn't need guard
Don't like smaller GSC detachment and then a fuckton of guard.

What excites me most is that this will no doubt be released for AT too. I'm not dropping £1200+ on a model but ~£60 is ok.

Between yesterday's reveal video ("death is not the end of duty") and "we’ve got a couple more [reveals] up our sleeve for later today" I still think we could see a new Redemptor variant today.

Did not see those GSC bikes coming at all, they're a very nice surprise.

The BL character is neat, and is a nice preview of what to expect in the upcoming BL overhaul. Abaddon's model should be nice as long as the people who came up with the poses for the Primaris characters had no input whatsoever. I wonder if Chaos characters in general are going to get access to that power Lance and thunder hammers, or if they're strictly for the new named characters.
