The trial run was very limited, and only in a few cities. On top of that, scalpers pillaged most places that sold them to sell them later 10 times the price pretending it's a good deal.
I didn't manage to get a copy, and I doubt any are available anywhere. Gotta wait till January!

As far as I know, the trial run is only in Bilbao and Malaga. Number 2 hasn't released as of yet, or at least my guy couldn't find it. If you want number 1 and are near Bilbao, my mom got me 2 (neither she nor the kiosk lady understood anything I was telling them by phone). If you want it it's yours.

Surprised they even did the trial in Spain!
Did they for Conquest too?
That’s a good omen for getting these out to many countries for people, Conquest took too long for them they are so behind us.
So many questions here where I don’t think people are realising it is a trial run at the moment..
I guess main post being updated would be handy for those that aren’t reading through the thread.

Don't think so. I think it was a straight release.
In other news, finally number 2 is in kiosks. 4.99 € for the magazine, white paint, a brush and 4 ghosts.

That's very generous, but I am way down south Moving to Malaga tomorrow actually, maybe I stumble on something.

Nope and probably won't, they just put it out to test the waters. I didn't realise this when I subscribed and I don't know what the process is for reporting it. I have emailed via their website so hopefully I hear something back soon.

I must admit that by this stage of the Conquest trial I had been notified that no deliveries were coming at present and that there would be the free issues due once the true launch happened as a thank you.
I suppose the main indicator that the main launch isn't due yet is the lack of Mortal Realms on the main Hachette website and my main go to place for single issues, Forbidden Planet, have nothing on their site either.

Strangely I just found issue 6 in my local Tesco despite them never having any others. Looked like chain rasps but most of the ghost look the same to me.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis |

You may well be in the test area and that was some surviving stock. Although, having said that, I thought they only tested issues 1-4 during the pilot?
Like the others have said, when I signed up to the 40K one, I got an email straight away saying it was in pilot but if it launched I would be told and given some free issues. So far, haven't had the same with the AoS one despite it showing on my active subscriptions (still complete with thumbnail of Routemaster bus)

Spanish number 4 came with a letter from the publisher (not hachette, the local one) saying that sadly the collection would not continue for the time being, but that when it relaunched it would receive a national ad campaign so we wouldn't miss it, or something along those lines.

See some people are getting letters saying that the trial was coming to an end and as a reward, the first two issues of the magazine will be free. They're looking to release the magazine in the New Year

Sounds like they are in the process of sending out the letters informing.
It’s a shame it is only the first two issues free.
As they are likely the £2, £5 ones. So it’s 3&4 that go up to £8 each.
Would be good if someone has issue 4, and 6 if that is indeed out on shelves (which is odd as the trial was just 4 with Conquest wasn’t it?).
Those pictures on the back will get us up to the 8th issue contents.

The back of issue 4 only showed what was coming in issue 5 (the exclusive stormcast). It didn't show the contents of issue 6.

Ok so it seems we will have to wait for the new year for the subscription to begin. Does that mean we won’t get any issues this year or will we get the initial four trial issues?

Nope - you won't get anything until it starts in the New Year. When it does, you will get the first two issues for free.

Yeah the subscription starts in the new year. It starts at 1.
Nothing before.
Well I will begin it anyway. Who knows how far I’ll go.
I don’t play AoS for one.(no one in the group to play with).
And they aren’t things I have anything for..
Unless I wait for my 3 year old to become old enough to play and have it waiting..

Little bit disappointed that we only get two issues free but beggars can't be choosers. Still awaiting my letter but at least it's going out to people.
I think it'll be a good intro to the game for me and even if I don't play, I have cheap models to experiment on.

Got mine this morning. Meant to say in that post.
Yeah I thought that with the models, but like I need more to practice on etc ha ha.
I’m just a sucker for these things.
With Conquest I did up to the last free gift. But I was doing a DG army so it was worth it to get all my characters and units cheap (I then just started getting individual issues).
If we get a full list then we shall see what’s in it.
(Queue the people wondering if things like Ossiarch will be in it, much like the new Chaos Marine release, lots of people saying they bet they will do those in there. But kits like that are new and exciting, they sell on their own backs).

letter landed here today
ahh well.
as for the contents, expect one of every "easy to build" model, the starter set, various generic bits of terrain, paint, one or two specific models but nothing else "new", the point isn't to undercut normal sales but to provide a visually interesting range of models that is the hook to buying more.
curious to see the full lot when they show a poster though

We should be able to make a decent guess at the contents right? My one worry is are there really enough Nightgaunt units to match the number of SE? Genuine question, never played AoS.

My take on Conquest, and it could also be valid for Mortal Realms, is that by collecting the whole series you gain a gateway into the Games Workshop world of wargaming without needing to visit one of their stores ever. It's a self-cpntained games system in its own right and not aimed at established players, although the benefit of £7.99 Rhinos (£15.98 including accessory sprue) and character models was great though.
The armies are not necessarily geared towards mainstream 40K games. The scenarios provided by the magazines mix and match the models required. Apart from the first couple of issues, I don't think there has been a scenario that places all of the models provided onto the table.
To that end, there may not be a requirement for the number of Nightgaunt units to squarely match up to the Stormcast.

There isn’t enough Death Guard to Match Marines.
But they only needed about 20 issues for each faction

That's my point. The established players get the perks of cheap models and cherry picking individual issues, as long as you don't rely on the Hachette website that is.
Two siblings or mates who live in the middle of nowhere get a home delivered mini games system that is more scenario based than big matched armies.
It's like they were inspired by the classic "Last Stand at Glazer's Creek" battle report.
In reality, past the obvious desire of Hachette and GW to make a metric ton of cash, who knows what the design aim of these partworks actually is?
