I say...dark green, with black turrets.
If you're unsure, make a rough one on paint and fill in the colours in different combinations until you see one that fits. Put up your favorites here and we'll vote.

That hull mounted cannon is monstrous! The level of detail and the cohesion in the design of the sides is excellent. Why haven't fw recruited you to make these for them?

As for color, Pre Heresy DA = Black.

Tichy Train Group. They have a whole bunch of different sized rivets but I like using the .035, .040, and .050 for Imperial vehicles.

I have plans for at least two: A Plaguereaper and a post-Heresy Iron Warriors Fellblade.

This Fellblade isn't mine but is an awesome Alpha Legion conversion from Joey over at Apocalypse40K.com (another great site) using the Tank Mega Pack.

I'd hate to be staring across the table at that thing during the shooting phase

Okay... that's "get Marcin out of retirement" thread numero due. Fabulous, absolutely fabulous in its entirety. The Dark Angel piece will be breathtaking, even more so than the Imperial Fist monstrosity you have produced the last time.

So I was thinking about my pre-heresy Thousand Sons army (inspired by this thread over on Warseer) I am going to do after I redo my Tau, and I have got to say, we need to make this thing with PSYKER POWERS!

Imagine a red and gold monstrosity that gates around the battlefield, has twin linked 'smite' guns on the side, force dome, null zone, and all that good stuff!

It's really terrible, because it would not have just guns like the others, but be a rules heavy thing with something like a d-strength whirlwind on the back.

Now, I have to go get my codex, and think very hard about this....


EDIT: Whooohooo! Psychic Crew is an amazing rule that I just made up!

So Quickening and Might of the Ancients are both pretty useless here, and the psychic shooting attacks have a range that I can beat by spitting.

That leaves a problem, because (as I understand, and I think I might be wrong) the pre-heresy K-Sons were a shooty legion.

So what if I played with these a bit? Could I modify psychic powers for the sake of an Apoc. game? Derp! Yes!

So, other elements of vehicle design aside for a moment, I want to focus on the rule I just made up, psychic crew. Since the crew of this great beast would not be just pithy psykers the KSons had left over, I figured there would be some high-level (even for KSons, the psyker legion) psykers to pilot and power this thing. First up, I think that a chorus of psykers (group of psykers, like school of fish or pack of wolves) trained to the pinnacle of what the KSons can give would pass psychic tests automatically. Imagine something like eight epistolaries networked together in the command pulpit of this thing. We are talking epic level here, right? Also, some sort of psyker nullification. What if all non-friendly psyker powers within 18" automatically fail, and then from 18" to 36" they must re-roll successful psychic tests? Is that a bit much? maybe just 12" and 24". Hmmm. I don't usually use psykers, so I need someone with experience to tell me how to work a massive psychic hood into this thing. Basically, on the model I wanted a large turret in the front-center that was basically a big KSons head wing thing, and this was the 'core' of the unit, that was a psychic hood and gave it three powers: Force Dome, Null Zone, and Gate of Infinity. This would be the 'chorus' in the middle, able to do extraordinary things with the massive hulk of a tank.

Well, I have a real life to get back to. I will come back and see what becomes of this thread. I hope we all enjoy Machinator's work on these, and keep the pics coming!
