The core of my army is Typhus + PM + zombies.
I run a terminator squad for Typhus to play along.
I am also sure that a fast hard hitting squad is imperative, so I decided I might tag along my second HQ with said squad (raptors with 2 specials).

So what would you do :
- Drop jetpack HQ and go with Huron to infiltrate !
- Jetpack are for children. A bloodcrusher Khorne HQ is the way to go.
- Get a sorcerer with a nasty 3++ on a disk!
- Get a lord with a nasty 3++ on a disk
- Pffff. Another terminator lord. Go. Do it.

For obvious overkill reasons, I'd like to deck a generic HQ with PF + LC. In the sorcerer case, force weapon + PF.

Does that sound good ?

Well, you already have a lumbering HQ. Therefore, I'd opt for fast HQ as your 2nd choice. Here a Lord or Sorcerer on bike leading a Nurgle Biker squad or a squad of Spawn would be the best choices.

you need to take the burning brand, as it is the best choice in the book. best platform for the brand is on a bike, although you could tool your raptors for the task if yo udont have the models.

Default generic HQs seem to be khorne steed and spawn, nurgle biker or outflanking slaanesh steed. Brand works with any. Demon axe or mace also works.

agreed so long as they are fast.
but on the bike you have an extra weapon to swap for the flamer.

No love for the disk of Tzeentch? Coming with a 3++? :(

Problem with Huron is that I cannot field him without a LR, I really dislike having my lord losing time over embarking / disembarking. And having a fast HQ seems like a good idea....?

I do have the model. But what to put on the bike? A sorc? A lord? I kinda like the idea of a 3++, though I see the point in a T6 Nurgle lord. God I'm torn.

No love for a LC / PF lord...?

Too expansive, and works much better in pairs, as I've tested before. One of them attract fire like gasoline under the bad guys car.

The backbone of the army will be :
2 squads of PM /w rhinos
1+ squad of raptors
1 squad of havocs
1 helfire bird

Still hesitating on terminators, which leaves me open on the elite slots.

Let's say I could drop Typhus, and go for any combination of HQ, baring in mind :
1. I need a Nurgle mark
2. I want at least one fast HQ - I like raptors
3. Options are all possible - I love to convert models
4. I'd like a psyker if possible

You don't need a power fist on a sorcerer a force axe does the same thing, but with one more attack.

I would suggest a nurgle sorcerer since the nurgle powers help keep your army alive.

The thing about Chaos so many people aren't noticing is unlike most books, HQs aren't all that important. They may dictate how your army is built by opening more Troop options, but they generally don't do any heavy lifting really. As such, I'd only go with the one HQ you need.

So just the one generic Nurgle lord on a bike / jetpack ?
I may lack the punch a second one can offer though. I'd have to start browsing the cheap ones. :/

What punch is that?

The most offensively-minded HQs would be Daemon Princes with Daemon Weapons and/or Brands, Slaanesh Steed lords with Brands, or Khorne bike lords with an Axe.

These can be taken care of easily by the Heldrake (and any melee squad can match the power of the Khorne Lord).

What our HQs offer us is:

Increased utility thanks to Master of Deception, troop unlocks, and Biomancy powers.
OR
Super survivable Warlords (3++ on Disc/Bike, T6 Bike, etc).

That's not to say that no other build is viable. But don't look at the HQ as the linchpin of your army - especially the 2nd HQ.

I'd always take a lord or named HQ if I ran cult troops. But assuming that was covered and you still wanted a Nurgle HQ you could really make most anything work. I think unwieldy weapons with Nurgle to get AP2 and you don't have to fear S8-9 instant kills. Raptors, bikers, steed, terminator its all doable.

Nurgle Biker is just great with T6, it's fast and fits the Nurgle theme of your army. Give him either Black Mace or Burning Brand and some Nurgle Bikers to ride along with.If you really want the Raptors then I would suggest Lord w/ MoK, Jump Pack, and Axe of Fury. I use him as my HQ most the time (mainly because I love my converted Raptors). Add some raptors with Meltaguns for some anti-tank and you got a fast moving unit that can handle most things well. It's not a deathstar by any means, but it can hold it's own.

I am actually looking into something like that.
You'd prefer a jetpack over a bike or a juggernaught?

I think those can tag along a jetpack unit...?

I just kitbashed :
1 plague biker with the brand of Skwhatsitnameax
1 CSM lord on juggernaught with the axe of fury in your own eyes.

I also have the part for a disk mounted lord/sorc.

I am currently thinking about :
1 PM lord with brand in a raptor squad, that would detach and burn things up as soon as the raptors assault. May change this unit to bike unit though.
1 khorne lord on jugger that assault with his unit.

Here's a silly idea!

Abaddon
Terminator Axe Lord
Unmarked Mutilators
In a landraider!

It's a lot of wounds.... and a lot of attacks! It's just a shame you can't get a reasonable mark on those mutilators and keep Abaddon around.

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...

Till it gets FAQed. And maybe a lvl3 sorc in termie armor would be more debastating with iron arm/warpspeed/FnP to abby and the mutilators
