Yeah I wouldn't have thought to do it myself SL, I was advised to by some friends on Facebook. It really does work and I will be using it on warm metals in the future. It just warms the shadowing enough to give it an overall better feel than it being just brown and black instead.

Totally worth trying out if you are painting golds/brass/bronze

Wait I missed this the last time I looked at the Jugg's update...

The bronze/brass/etc.. is just Mithril Silver with layers of Sepia wash? O.o

Sepia, black, purple, and chestnut ink, yep! I actually did the same thing on like the very first page of this thread, but it was in far fewer layers and had no highlights. I'm going to really carefully highlight this one.

I've been using Ogre Flesh wash to warm up the metals on my necrons, especially if the green wash pushes them too far in the cool direction. It's kind of a sepia with reddish/purple added and has worked pretty well. I'll have to experiment with pure purple and see how it works.

Interestingly enough, I've been doing that strategy for a while now, but using it to dull and dirty the armor on my Trollbloods...

The effect is awesome Iffy, can't wait to see the highlighted effect.

By ink you mean the " washes"? " Ink " in my mind is a different medium ( I do Illumination )

Id imagine by ink she means ink. You can buy inks from hobby stores such as hobby lobby and so on. I know GW used to make inks, but I dont think they do anymore. Though, I only ever buy boltgun metal from them, so I could be wrong.

Ifalna - That Juggernaut is looking just crazy. Ill have to at least somewhat, steal your bronze making, as I just found out the bottle of bronze I had, has gone bad probably 6 years ago And that squig, is magical as always

No, it's really ink! Chestnut ink was available in GW a long time ago but is long since out of production, it is GORGEOUS over golds and bronzes though, and I actually use it all the time for rust streaks

Daler Rowney ink is pretty identical, you just need to water it a bit to use for tinting metals.

Oh yeah and something else ink is incredible for, painting bases. If you pva glue on sand and put a laden brush of ink on top of it once it's dry, the capillary action pulls the ink all over the sand super quickly and you can get really nice quick rich sand bases.

These have chestnut ink on the sand and also on all their golds -

And it just gives a lovely rich nice simple sand base, really compliments a cartoony paint scheme! ( And we all know how much I like to default to cartoony paint schemes hurrhurr)

I wanted to keep them nice and dark too, don't worry I just did a nice gentle edge highlight and it really finished them off.

The term Ifalnorks will forever be burned into my mind, thank you for that. Amazing.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat, Gits I was so confused. I was like " I don't remember this from Mad Max.. this is from Mad Max right?" so I googled Rutger Hauer and found out I have apparently missed a really good late 80's movie. I will remedy this.

Actually planning an 80's movie night with the bf this weekend so I bet we can fit that in!

Thanks dude! That shot of the squig was actually horrifically bleached though, I took it quickly and used an uncovered white painting light, so it looked different to reality, here is his new shot which is actually what he looks like

Just need to finish off his inner mouth and teeth. Do you think he is suitably embarrassing for an enemies character to be morphed into, Gits?

Here is where the Juggy is at now -

Brass highlighted, kept it really subtle to not overly lighten him. Starting on bone and teeth. So freaking happy with how he is progressing.

This shot is slightly out of focus and I didn't realise untill way too late :( I will take better ones if I have time tomorrow, cause it's a shame to not see his lovely metals along the shoulders properly.

Coat d'arms I believe were the company manufacturing the paints and inks for GW and they now sell under their own brand so you can still pick it.

Actually that's from one of my favorite movies... The Blood of Heroes with Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen. The Blood of Heroes on IMDB. Awesome film, snubbed cruelly by The Academy (b*stards). It is fitting entertainment for *any* movie night... especially if libations are added. I have another great RH suggestion once you've seen this one.

Both the Juggernaught and Squig are coming along nicely - I can't help but think someone should be posting yu a Squig each month, which have to find new and interesting paint schemes for...

Aye I found out it was from Blood of Heroes because I was convinced it was from one of the Mad Max's and google educated me otherwise! I'm gonna try and get my hands on it for this weekend, I am a total sucker for 80's/mid 90's movies.

We don't talk bout Ifalnorks round these parts.

A Squig a month would be pretty hilarious, I must give off some kind of Squiggy pheromone which is a scary thought.
