OOh, large vehicles. I don't think I've seen you do many of those before Iffy. As emotive as your painting is I'm really curious as to how you're going to handle large, impersonal items like those tanks and the pod.

Teehee, yes I am quite further advanced with these now

Heres a bit of a WIP collection!

All these are iphone shots so the colours fluctuate a bit, the final shot is the correct colour balance with a camera.

First, I airbrushed everything a deep purply blue fading up into enchanted blue (the old gw one)

I added black wash to recesses, then picked out the first details like eyes and lenses.

I don't have any wip of the lenses, but when finished everyone had black to red lenses, like Delilah

After that, I started fine line highlighting with ice blue.

I did the exact same thing with all vehicles, I shaded the recesses with nuln oil, then started fine lining them with ice blue

I started laying down green lenses for the vehicles and some really rich golds, which are warplock base, gehenness first layer, mithril silver tiny highlight, and some varied washes.
When all the fine lining was done, they looked something like this -

After that came the silvers and final details, which in this case was glowing green pipes and pistons. This final shot is the correct colour balance without a flash They are quite dark.

Loaaads more to come!

I'm not a fan of Ultramarines (surprise!), but that's a great paintjob on those guys! The highlighting is fantastic and really makes them pop.

I am a fan of Ultramarines and that paint job is still very, very good (better without the flash)!

Just to drive you crazy, I may want some Ultramarines painted some day...but I have some cooler figs that would be more fun.

It can wait though till the current torrent slows down or James gets good and starts taking his own commissions.

That is a really nice blue you've got there If. The fade from the dark to the lighter blue and the crisp highlights is really really cool.

I'm not a fan of Ultramarines myself, so when I was tasked with these I had to make them interesting for me to paint or they would have driven me even more insane than they currently have.
Going for a deep fade and crazy edge highlight made them way more fun to paint

They don't have much more to go now, just started on the reds (which will be super deep and contrasty) and then it's just the gun silver highlights and the scouts to go. Maybe some touchups here and there Bases will be sand with dead grass tufts.

These are for work and aren't really my choice haha, which is why they have to be done asap Nice to know it won't be much longer.

Heres some quicky Iphone shots -

And another of some of the little gits for my first spider batch -

Checkout all that blue light, nice one, Iphone!

Delilah is now all finished ( she won't have a howdah thingy). Shots with a real camera, whoah!

And a close up of one of the Gobbo's.

These dudes are the lower level of the painting for the army and I went with super contrasting layers, all the way up to bad moon yellow as a highlight. They look great fun and I can't wait to paint character versions with more layering Holy crap they are tiny. TINY

Must agree. I think the glossy eyes really puts the life into the giant creature. Personally I could never paint such a thing, I'm unreasonably afraid of any insect so even holding the thing would make me wanna chuck it across the room instinctively. :(
On a side note, while searching for painting tutorials on YouTube I stumbled across an interview with you. Who knew you were so famous?! Anyways, it was an entertaining watch. Keep up the inspired painting!

@Galorn--i'd say i'm sorry for necro-ing a thread, but i'm not. deal with it. ironic, that you would further necro a thread being a smarrta$$ with a huge image...

1) to GdSb and Galorn, thread necro doesn't really happen in the P&M section because of the nature of painting and project logs.
1.a) Gd, you could probably be a little nicer about it, usually when a thread had gone without posting in it, you are usually warned that you're necroing a thread, so there's really no excuse for not knowing it, and there's no need to call another user a smartarse.
2) And there's a good chance that if Ifalna hasn't been posting here for a few months, then she most likely won't respond to your message, and she has painted black armor. One of the first few minis in her blog was Captain Korvydae, a ravenguard (who wear black armor)

All, ( I post this as a concerned Dakkite...)

On a serious note has anyone had any contact with her since her post almost 8 months ago. Firstly there is a concern for her well being overall. Secondly, in my case a matter of commissions.

If you have information you can share please do so or PM me priv. Other wise DO NOT respond to this thread so it spawns more Thread Necromancy.

Again if you have no info and nothing to add please show restraint.

Thanks everyone
