They have a home now, might never get painted, so they will be neglected. Probably doesn't count as a good home. But they will not be lonely, they will be joined by friends soon enough. God willing the dwarf bases will see use soon as well, still trying to get a dwarf team cheap. Just saw some previews of dwarf footballers made by Titan forge, so far they are the best looking I've seen, looking for other alternates as well.
@comrade, I think in the old rogue trader there were Khorne robots. They look like precursors to the Necrons.
@Shaso, There were so many good Saturday morning cartoons that need miniatures made of them.....then there were ones like "King Arthur and the knights of Justice" which should have the artists brought out and publically shot.
off to look up pics of something I just remembered now, might have just thunk up an idea for a flyer.
WooooHoooo..just won an ebay deal for two sets of Dwarf Bloodbowl teams. they have paint on them which Ill strip, but got it for less than two new sets. now I can finally get " The Frosty Mugs" off the sidelines
Guess I'll need a few more bases for these extra guys, but they can wait since only 16 make the cut and I usually run with 11 to start.
Also should be seeing some packages this week. No not from my family, none of them have ever bought me models for my B-day, only socks, underwear, and shirts. But I got a tracking update on my two mechs coming from paulsongames.com, and a few packages from other dakkadakka members that I've shamelessly hit up for some stuff. hopefully we'll be seeing some progress soon
wow... i spend some days in the mojave desert and you come up with a cool looking truck!...
i like how you have so little respect for the bitz you use you just take what you deem fit and use it in totally new ways... that launcher frames as these fenders /sidepockets (?) is probably the best detail so far on that truck! i for one am totaly sold on that!
also, the iron warrior you modeled with his hand on that beam... very cool looking... i like that, as it looks realist... as if he is trying to get him and his big launcher through this rough ground and needs some extra support...
@vik, thanks, the original plan was to have him as an injured trooper staggering out and grabbing the post as a means to steady himself. This could still happen with a lascannons shot to the chest. The bits are parts of GW kits that sit idle since I refuse to continue my chapter build.
@Dave, yep, guns for now, however I might also build a searchlight turret for it as well.
well... GW made an effort to give us motivated modelers some pretty stiff and (hello dave) constipated looking plastic soldiers... and it is always a pleasure to see some one actually rise above the materials at hand and make some suitable human or even remotly possible alive looking person out from all this bitz... so:
Well, since marines can eat anything, it xplains a bunch, but the emperor forgot to give them proportional to allow there food to be expelled without the aid of the apothecaries. That may be why the emperors children turned out the way they are.
It got worse for me when I learned we can be taught how to use power armor, walk around with a Mini-gin(Assault cannon) Gatling laser, flamer, or just any rifle or shotgun. As I do this o the Ork like Super Mutants(Their whole situation reads like Orks) I mentally shout "Fer da Emperaah!"
Yep, just looking at the graphics I'd be hooked. I'd also be shouting "get some!!!" In the middle of the night waking the kids up too . All this has happened before, and it will happen again.

Vegas is even more graphically cool. I have an M-1 rifle it even makes the "Ping" when the clip pops out after I empty the rifle and reload ammo!
Quick update before bed. We have a friends child spending the night tonight, were going to feed/ride horses tomorrow, volleyball practice, and orthodontist s probably no updates tomorrow except from IPhone.
Had an idea of what to do with my other zinge tires. Bad boys bad boys what you gonna do when the servo skulls come for you.
Got ideas for the engines and weapons, which will happen later, they will be mounted on bike bases.
Theophony wrote:Yep, just looking at the graphics I'd be hooked. I'd also be shouting "get some!!!" In the middle of the night waking the kids up too . All this has happened before, and it will happen again.
LOL... it is frightening addictive mate... and i bet it is way to hard to just stay away from that game... i tried for almost a year... and then dave shaso and strike made me get it... and since then...
and that new concept for the biker skull... interesting... needs more shots... i think there needs to be a smallish gear to make the spinning movement of the wheel possible? as you don´t have any belts and suchlike to be seen atm...

We're on the same page vik , here's version 2.0, still not complete, but I think a little better. I imagine these guys as never standing still, always adjusting position, even slowly circling the person they have pulled over. They are not arrest bots, no arms to slap cuffs on the perps. They are only to catch up to, overtake, and if necessary shoot out the tires (legs) of escapees.
As you can see the round tube in back is the actual motor/drive mechanism. It will rest on the tire and spin counter to the tires causing the direction of travel. Turning is handled by shifting weights inside the tub hitch causes lean. I will attach a motor and police light on the back of this later, and it will be painted separately to allow for ease of painting.
Kids are still asleep, wish I was able to sleep more than four hours at a time. Might get some more done, but right now must find some ebay bits to make more of these guys.
ah! symetry and balance have been achieved!
the dual bolters look very good... and the treadroll looks very good... just try to add a bit of profile to the tube and you are golden...also now you need some exhaust...
and that concept reminds me of fallout of course^^:
and yes... these would need to roll constantly to keep balance...
and why is it that you cant sleep more than four hours a day? kids related or your own time manegement?
What would be awesome would be if none has any more of these bits laying around.
Specifically the top row bits, but I think I have a use for the bottoms also. I just won't buy a bastion or aegis defense line for these separate and GW killing the kits stores hurts. Th only one selling them on ebay has me blocked from years ago.
Unless someone unscrupulous here might order them for me and I will send them some Paypal cash!
Exhaust is already on the device I will use for a motor vik,
Hopefully that looks suitably like an engine to everyone else.
I'm thinking of putting a kickstand on one of them, but that would be just go comic value
Oh I'm looking for about ten more of those ideally if you have extras. I'm liking he bike theme, and can imagine a space marine bike army composed of these guys. Now I need to make an attack bike version
Rsjake has also hooked me up with some of his clear bottles for the necromunda/bloodbowl terrain.
This sprue comes with 4
And this one comes with 2
Although the ones from the quad autocannon have an antenna and the light on the other side. I've got 10 if you need them...
that seller is known to me and i only had good business with him... took ages to get me the stuff but it got to me eventually...
what quarrels did you have with him?
and i ever only had one of these bits... used it up on my first entry to the leagues comp...i would rip it off if you ask me
at dave... that bottom left part in the first sprue... does this look like an ancient laser device to you, or is it just me^^
and theo... yeah that transponder would make a good looking engine...although the lantern bit on the top i would replace with some bit of the old DA conversion kit... you know, those lantern bitz?...:
(middle left side, the one with the holes in it...)
If you don't want them Dave I will give them a good home where they will be tasked for all of eternity as all servos skulls should.
Vik, I had used him also, but the problem came when I was trying to build my marine chapter. I emailed him asking how many of a certain bit he had, we arranged for me to buy them all. Payment made, parts sent, but missing some and other parts put in place of them. I contacted him, he fixed it at his expense, but it struck me funny that I had bought all his bits but he had extras to replace them....hmmm! I placed an order a week or so later to get another item, he shipped them in a plain white envelope, which was mangled by the post office and all that was delivered was a shredded envelope, I contacted him, no reply, but replacements came. Figured he was decent because he fixed the problem, but when I tried to order again I found I was blocked from ordering. I can't even send him a message because he has me blocked. I'd love to order bits from him, but since he doesn't even talk to me or have an open channel I can't get through. I thought about creating another eBay account, for my kids, but figured that might be unethical. What do you think?
I know he has a great reputation, but he blocks everyone who gives him less than five stars. I've heard other people with similar stories, so I figure his 1% negative is just washed by the constant good marks.
The light will stay as that's the strobing police light when in pursuit.
damn you nerdy... now i have to see that song on youtube!...
at dave...indeed

ok... check... the light has to stay^^
and well... i didn´t knew ebay and their sellers could block a customer...??? wtf? what kind of business is that? the world isn´t really that big as to only accept docile customers??? i have learned to work as a salesman and have studiied business administration... and never would i have guessed such a behavior... you learn something new each day in the webways it seems....
and as for ethics... stuff ethics on this one... make one for your missus, one for your granny and your kids... one for your neighbor... heck...get the stuff you want/need and do whats necessary...
Yeah vik, fight the system.
I made an account or my son, haven't tried it yet since Dave might have the bits. Started looking around their thread, but didnt see anything else I wanted that's usually how it goes but now there's another option available .
my boss has a big whooping stick with three nails in it that he has saved up for when the time is right
lol... now i would like to hear a sing song about that in a church...! i bet a church that would come up with the good old "He stomps the unrightful and so on..." would see more followers
as for ethics on the web... i try to tend to be respectful... to a certain point...if all is lost... then the kids gloves are off
Theo, loving your updates and the speed of them. Great humour going on with the builds. I've missed quite a bit over the last week - damn business trip.
As for ebay - yeah, just create more accounts. I have several on the go, although can get hard to remember all the login details!
Dr H wrote: I like where the unicycle is going. Won't it be a bit small for a bike base though?
They are not as long as bikes, but wider and taller. I could use them as assault marines, but how do I explain the twin bolters and no c.c.w.?
Oh, it's slightly bigger than I thought then.
Makes sense to keep them as bikes, and for that, those are the bases to use.
Just going to have a lot of base to do something with.
@Dr. H, forgot to mention the initial guy was temporarily on a 40mm base, so he is big, I'll try and post a picture next to a marine or ganger later.
@ruglud, yeah I saw them this morning, I want to make some dumpsters now @dave, as always, thanks , you should send a c&d to them showing your vending machine it would be very GW of you
Just back from the store, this supply drop was in the form of donuts. My kids had the same friend stay for the second night in a row. I didn't feel like cooking again, so they will have to suffer
Quick shot of size comparison with a marine, also now on a cavalry base.
Should I keep them on a 40mm base and use them as terminators? The storm bolters are on there already, and the power weapon could be them ramming into the opponent. Yes it has possibilities
Also you'll see I have two motors tacked onto this guy, not sure if I'll go with the two or cut down to one that is more centered on the back.
dsteingass wrote: Why not just give them buzz-saws on mechanical tendrils for CCW??
Very good idea, wish I had though of it.
Well the donuts were good, watching stng while the kids were still asleep, and got to finish #2 up to same level. This one has the alternate base on it, so I think it will be the commander of the squad. I put some missiles on him with poster tack just to see options for the heavy weapons. Do you like them mounted up or down?
Will consider my weapon options for close combat, need alternates for power fist, power sword, chain fist.
Power sticks!? how original! :-) mind you even if they weren't charged if something motorized rushed you with a whopping big rod coming out the front of it...... you'd think you were in my thread!
@shaso, engine on he back drives the roller which turns the wheel. The mechanicus doesn't make anything simple.
@dave, cattle prods to move the herds of civilians , shows hat the imperium thinks of the citizens.
@nerdfest, if only I could paint as good as you. One of my friends growing up had a police officer character in a heroes game that wore all pink an had a pink police car. I can still hear his lisp saying "pull ova' , pull ova'" right before the shooting started.
@Dr. H, it might get on wire on it, but you are the master of the powerlines and circuitry, so I'll leave that to you.

Why thank you.
But cables are easy, roll a really long, thin, sausage of your chosen two-part epoxy putty, attach one end to where it should be and drape along surfaces / attachment points until you reach the other end. Let gravity do the hard work for you in giving a natural hanging cable look (Shh Nerdfest ).

...........Pre emptive strike there from DrH! ....... i'll behave!
@nerd; I couldn't think of a way of writing that sentence that couldn't send you, with your new passion, off on a spasm, wouldn't want to tire you out so quickly. So I just stuck that in at the end.
i say leave them upside, those fancy launchers... the prodding sticks... nice idea... confused me a bit at first... but now i see that idea is quite cool!...
on your first termy rolla there is a kickstand, am i right??? hmmm... i am undecided... i think you mentioned it for comic relief... hmmm
and i am a bit worried that the two engine setup makes this termy rolly a bit more expensive than needed? i bet that part is not that cheap to come by?
and damn... since my last post has moved on so much i forgot the rest i wanted to have a chat about
Automatically Appended Next Post: oh... by the way... tho they do look quite decent i still feel mildly offended by the MDF lasercut nuka cola machines of them... dave but way more work in his version... and not because he is my friend will this always stay my first choice!!!
lasercutting for something like this feels a bit like cheating...
Sorry for he fast sporadic posts, was out with the family at Grant's Farm (18th president of the US), it's a few miles from the house, got o let the kids pet and feed goats, see animals, and watch a bird show.
Got home and there was a birthday gift on the front porch, from ME Here's what I posted over in news and rumors, I'm the first with these in hand I believe (really need the dancing ork emoticon here)
Just got my present on my doorstep, two days before my birthday, guess I'll have to wait to open it.......nah!!!
Okay so the bad (if it could be considered that) no instruction, or picture, but I have them saved under my gallery for reference.
Slight flash, but easily cleaned, did one whole model in less than five minutes.
The leg attachment point is my only concern. It looks like the tab on the foot is right where it should join the ankle, Paulson do I remove that tab, it's in a very bad spot if its to come off?
The great news, no mold slip.
The flash cam off with a quick flip of a knife blade turned backwards.
Same great casting I've always gotten from Paulsongames.com.
And it arrived before my birthday.
I'm going to poster tack it together quickly as we are going out for dinner, I'll try to get pics up quickly.
Edit:
Looked at the pics a second time and realized do not cut the tab off the leg, good thing I hadn't yet.
The quality is fantastic, easily on par with the dreamforge figures I have.
Far exceeds all the ogre world figures I have for comparison.
Glued he legs to the feet for stability, here's a size comparison next to a dreadnaught and marine.
No, not for the iron warriors, way to sleek. These will be totally different. I need o download the beta rules before the kickstarter comes up. He has another light mecha designed, waiting for print to come back for him to begin casting those. The largest mecha will have four legs (easy dave ) and sit on a 120mm base. He is hoping to keep the big one under $100.
Yep, got scared out by the fireworks , I have told my kids all their lives that they shoot fireworks off on the forth of July to remind them to get to wrapping my gifts, I'm afraid they actually believe that's the reason and no independence day . Finished putting together the mecha, then saw some poor servo skulls that looked overworked, told them to go on break.....now they are talking about who they are going to vote off the modeling table
Hopefully inspiration is just coming with age and not about to depart tomorrow. Had an idea this morning, partly out of a need for air power, and partly due to klaus , I can never get to his level of scratch building, but I am okay at stealing ideas and twisting them to my own minds will.
So I give you part predator drone, part warthog, and part avengers quinjet.....the Tempest Chicken , eat that GW.
Landing gear, needs talons. Yes I like the sentinel legs.
VTOL mode with legs up.
Flight mode with legs up. Landspeeders at base to show size.
And armed with wing missiles and heavy flamer.
I could use it as a landspeeders, stormtalon, or storm raven (might not be able to carry a dreadnaught, although it could pick it up with the talons just thought of that while typing, but I could attach little eggs under the tail section that drop and hatch my servo skulls , the pilot is a servo skull also, but will be behind a painted windshield).
Comments, suggestions, or straight jacket? What do you got for me
Dr H wrote: I like the idea of it laying eggs that hatch servo-skulls. lol.
Could do with making the leading edges of the wings a little more rounded. but overall shape is good.
Scrambled servo skulls
I'm not comfortable with carving plastic like you, and want to keep the boxy feel of the imperium. I will be doing more later, but back to 1:1 scale painting this morning.
You could add GS, rather than carving the plastic away... or, Sprue use #1566; add a length to the leading edge with the long, bottom edge of the trapezoid to the surface. That retains the squared off aesthetic of the Imperium and adds a little aerodynamics to the wings. (Although, sprue is probably too thin for this).
But it's up to you. First thing I'll do to some of the flyer models is make them more aerodynamic, but that's me...
Here's some more angles.
Bottom, egg carton will go on the white section that goes back to the tail.
Top, need to make the intakes on the jets, thinking of using the mesh like I did on the tunnel entrances.
Mesh I'm talking about.
Edit: I know the tail fins look ginormous, but that way it fits GW style
Thanks Dr. H, I have one of the toy hunter killers that I cut up for parts. It also with the wingtip missiles reminds me of the osprey from the beginning of the transformers movie.
Getting ready to go to fair saint Louis to watch the fireworks, and hang out with friends.
as for the tempest chicken... lovley!!!!! the VTOL engine looks awesome! and even tho i would love to see the wings switched i still like that look.... are these parts again from a droppod?... and indeed... who doesn´t like sentinel legs?...
oh... and to all you americans... happy fourth of july!
ok so can we keep her and see what happens when we remove the straight jacket i feel either something really awesome would happen or something really really bad. either way should be interesting
Good lord Theo, you must be one of the most prolific scratchbuilders when you get going... You get an idea itching your brain and you scratch away until the concept is in plastic... Then you scoot off with another idea... It must be exhausting being you and having so many cool ideas in your noggin'
@everyone, thanks for the approval, this has been a quick fun build, sometimes things just work themselves out right.
Just spent last 7 hours at Fourth of July activities over in Illinois. We had the backdrop of the arch and beautiful weather, great friends and explosions what could be better. Only sucky thing was they had cell phone jammers going, so I haven't been able to check anything out during the lulls.
Tomorrow is a day of rest, BBQ, and possibly bloodbowl sounds good for a birthday to me.
Have yourself a good Birthday Theo! sounds like you'll enjoy it :-) your latest scratch work is coming along beautifully! and the Paulson walker is really cool! looking forward to more progress with this latest frenzy you're in lol!
Thanks again guys, I'd like to say turning 39 hasn't taken away the hobby mojo, at least I feel I might still have some left.
Woke early his morning (I'm never getting a birthday breakfast in bed because I wake up before everyone else), and went to look at my jet. It stood the all important eye of seeing it the second day and being happy with ones creation.
So scrounged my bits boxes again, and realized I didn't have enough parts to make more of these , but I had enough to get started...
The second tempest chicken has hatched. It still needs som legs/landing gears, and the jets. I used the other parts from the drop pod to make temporary jets. They could become permanent, but I'd like to have them more matching than mismatched. Although hey will have slight differences as the wing missile pods I'm unwilling to purchase another storm talon for. The pods come with one backside and two fronts. So more cutting, cursing and comparing leaves me with this.
9different pieces on each pod, and I still don't have the back of it closed off. It seems decent on the dry fit in the first picture, and nothing paint won't fix later.
Also pulled out the mecha from its primer hole, looks like an even coat, so now just need a color idea. It's one of the North American faction light mecha, so in honor of the Fourth of July it might get a red white and blue color scheme. Though I may just go with a standard military scheme, but giant robots should never try to blend in to the background.
this time of year must be like a celevrations marathon^^...
the second chicken tempest looks almost like a sibling to the first one! very well done again! even if some parts are missing... this is why i love steampunk... when you can´t have matching gear for every mini you just pull the steampunk means made-individually-produced-card and sit justifed in the bleeding sunshine
and i vote for a nice blue/red/white paintjob... and totaly weathered... that would look awesome! soot and maybe some rust... could have a social meaning after all
@Dr. H, thanks, I thinking along your lines with mostly military color and probably a shoulder with the red whit and blue.
@vik, we have my bday today, my sisters on he 10th, and my niece on the 30th. Sept. is our party time of the year, my brother in law, sister in law, grandfather in law, and assorted others all within a week of each other.
Anybody share a birthday with someone famous, or that the have a kindred spirit with?
I worked with two people over h years that I really got along with, found out later that we shared the same birthday, also a former pastor friend o mine has the same birthday, and we had great times while on a mission trip together. Lastly I also share the same birthday as comic book legend John Byrne, who is one of my favorites of all time. Just wondered if yo guys have that sort of oddball connection with anyone.
@rsjake, thanks I got the package today, like a special birthday celebration that I wasn't expecting, now to crack one open Also my ebay supply drop hit
24 dwarves, 2 sets of the bloodbowl grudgebearer teams. I have since mounted 13 of hem on the beer cave bases from Galorn and got half a game in with them tonight between BBQ and s'mores. I'll try and get them primed in the morning.
Tomorrow will probably be taken up most of the day with cleaning. We have been hunting for a home church for a few months since the move, and were pretty sure we found one about a month ago. We had dinner two weeks ago a the pastors home with his family, and they are supposed to come over for BBQ lunch tomorrow. We went to watch fireworks with his family and four other families yesterday, it's great hat they are roughly our age and our kids are close enough in age to get along and occupy themselves.
Got some nice pics for terrain at he fireworks, I'll try n post them up tomorrow as well. Some of he St. Louis skyline from the Illinois side of the river, som bridges, an observation tower that was pretty neat, and some silos with a cargo elevator that extends to the Mississippi River. The airshow was okay, but no jet fighter , still the biplanes, and WWII planes were excellent.
Cleaned the basement this morning to be ready for guests.
Bookcases still need a lot of work.
That's the most of my desk that I've seen in months.
Urban renewal on the necromunda table. I will be rebuilding it with all the cardboard buildings that I have been getting.
Pastor did not make I to our house today, his boys are sick. His wife came over to have girl time with my wife though. So my boy and I went o eat Chinese food look at car dealerships, and went for a road trip to miniature market.com. Saw a nice standup that Dave might enjoy.
Didn't buy it, but they had some clearance starter sets of c.o.g.s. for $35.00
They also had a wall of Imex plastic toys, look silly, but I've seen people use them, and $7.00 each is cheap.
They seam to be able to fire there own missiles with springs.
ah.... these look like robo gear stuff... highly valuable stuff mate! specially the flyers and the walkers... good use on the legs and so on... and also their tracked parts of the tanks are of high value for conversions if you ask me...
ah... the famous nuka cola bottles from jake!... (i shouldn´t too often write high value... i sound like a stupid teleshopping dude^^)
with so many events in your family and so on it is a wonder you can stay sober for five minutes ...
also... john byrne is one cool artist, it is probably not possible to sum up what an impression on the comic book scene he made... from DC and marvel... he had them all and he made them all!!!
and:
it's great hat they are roughly our age and our kids are close enough in age to get along and occupy themselves.
that´s what i would call a win win situation... and because it is not often the case... all the more worthy of a and while it didn´t happen this time... next time better luck!
Yep vik, they were robot ear, they had all those little sets, the front of the store is garbage, all their discounted to sell junk. They keep everything else in back.
Had to ask for them to grab what I wanted.
Breaking open the box of operation Cerberus. You get two unique figs. The American is awesome. He is a chef complete with the pouffy hat, he has a tank strapped to his back that runs two flame pistols off of it .
The axis character looks like a catholic schoolgirl with a sniper rifle. Good detail on her as well.
The building components comes out to be.
They are slightly taller than the necromunda bulkheads, but still great pattern and usable as Dave showed.
There are two door sections, two wide double window fronts, three inside wall corners, 15 outside wall corners, 15 of the panels in the picture between the inside and outside corners that are filled in windows, eight of the narrow solid walls top right, 6 of the narrow double window top center, and three of the wide double window top left.
There's also a rulebook, and a clear counter. I'm going to start throwing some of these together to get an idea of the layout possibilities.
miind you... if you are one future day really interested in these robo gear sprues... the look to ebay... you will get them cheaper there... or try to get them from russia directly as they produce them there!
and i wanna see that cheesy sniperess^^...
and yeah... those building parts look rather promising!... and i bet you could add a bit of PC to your bulkheads (by the way... nice piles there^^) and you can combine them pretty well with the dusty stuff
After seeing these walkers in hand I'm not touching the robot gear stuff. This stuff is amazing. The details are crisp and clear, and parts move, at least some of them do.
The walker tilts up/down at the waist, and the shoulders are plug and play. The guns have some moving bits, like tilting, or swivel on the rocket pods. I picked up three of his box for $11.00 each on sale, because it comes with one walker and three different arm options.
Operation Cerberus comes with lots of building bits. One box for $31.47 built all this.
It was designed to build the left building to three stories and have a couple bits left over. The only thing I didn't understand was the cardboard floors they provide. They are too short to go side to side, so if heavy weight is on it, he section might bend or print loose. But a hick umm age brought my plasticard found some .080 plasticard which fits exactly in the floor joints.
For vik a shot of the figs.
And a shot of the book with the drawings o what they should look like.
The somewhat cheesecake art on he back of he box has the girl looking more like a nazi emo hooker than a sniper, but I guess that helps to sell it.
Building section next to bulkhead for I've comparison. I like the difference in height. You look at older American homes and they were taller than the newer ones are on average. It will also give more of. Retail/ home look than the necromunda industrial feel. These can make some fabulous hab complexes.
Also on a different note, got my bloodbowl figs completely mounted to their bases and primed them this morning. Here are the frosty mugs, plus two extra figs from my basic team. I'm going to try and make my own death roller, I refuse to pay more for an ugly single figure than what I paid for the entire team.
The two blitzers in the back row will be added to the team later in a competition or tournament. They are all on galorn's bases from rivetzone.com
It's cool stuff isn't it? The cheesecake is growing on me. The Allies have A Bazooka Joe Marbo, and a "Rosie" fig that I must have. The Chef is cool, he's a spy working as a Chef deep inside Berlin.. he's Basically Vik
Ha ha ha, I hadn't even opened the book yet to read the description or history on the guys yet. My project for the day was to clean up the basement, take down my necromunda buildings and build the old cardboard buildings so I could see just how big my collection is.
Mission complete
That's a 6'x4' table
That's without walkways or the roughly 6"x6" square buildings being set up. I also have some gorkamorka terrain that I got in the ebay wins. You can see I even have terrain on top of terrain on top of terrain and for some reason I'm looking at some ebay auctions on more necromunda
On a hotter note our AC has broken down, it's been hotter than hades hive after an exterminatus order. Hopefully we can get it fixed quickly, or replace it cheaply.
For some reason, when I read the thread title, I think of the intro to "The Forbidden Zone"
Going down, down, down
How far can you go?
You might fall into the forbidden zone
Going down, down, down
It's driving me insane!
Everything is different, but nothing has changed!
Automatically Appended Next Post: This thread is absolutely fantastic.
@smitty, thanks a lot, never seen that clip before it was fantastic. Now I need to make a servo skull with a boxing glove and a hat @dave, that's what she said. There's something to be said about having the basic cardstock buildings. Especially given my slow painting nature. Also I still have about half of my bulkheads unused.
I keep watching these ebay auctions, there's two out there right now that would be great for people wanting he bulkheads and terrain to have a full table, I think the hoarder in me really wants to buy them. Please someone else snatch them up.
thanks mate... much apreciated! but say, the plastic looks rather softer than GW´s stuff? the bended firearms of the sniperess for instance...??? or am i wrong? and they appear to be more realistic in scale as the heroic GW scale...
and now that your frosty mugs are primed... lets see some lick of paint here and there and of course are you more than capable to make your own deth roller!...no doubt about it!
as for the filled table...
that must´ve took the better part of an hour just to put everything together to just take that pic... and it would have taken at least another hour after some playing with everything until i could have made an effort to tuck it all away :(
On a hotter note our AC has broken down, it's been hotter than hades hive after an exterminatus order. Hopefully we can get it fixed quickly, or replace it cheaply.
ouch.... what temps do you get these days? we are facing around 30° celsius the coming week... so i am too rather vexed of this already....
Getting ready to leave for church when I was thinking about the dust buildings. If I don't make a back of the building, and just have it set up on a table edge, I can make a much taller Hab block. Create the floors and all. Would make for excellent sniper perches.
Vik, it took about two hours with sorting all the bits and fixing some of them as we'll.
We're looking low 90s Fahrenheit all this week. So really want to get the ad resolved quick. When we bought the house we got a home warranty, I'm just afraid that they'll pro rate the cost because of the age of the unit and home.
Sadly, furnaces and central air units usually don't last more than 10-15 years anymore. Edge-of-table or facade buildings are always a win, I'm not sure why more people don't do edge-of-table buildings.
I chime in on the edge of table issue... sounds like a winning formula!
and I hope your AC will soon work again...these temperatures... I am barley able to breath... lifting a limb is not included for this... and civilized clothing won´t happen then...so no going out then^^
and I do hope and cross my fingers for no extra costs due to this...and yeah... can´t see a live time of a working AC ... too many parts in movement and weathering (the bad one...the one we don´t like...) is bound to be cruel on these things...
@briancj, logic? In 40k? No I get where your coming from. Also considering boarding up some windows to necromunda fly them. Gang house style, for when the spryer's come to target the settlements @ Vik, great news, we called three or four people to set up times for them to stop by and look at it, one came right over, he lives fiveminutes from us. He fixed it with parts in his truck for $130. A steal for that fast of service on a Sunday afternoon. The house is cooling right now, unfortunately while I was waiting for him I discovered my front passenger tire was flat, all the way down to the rim of the hub, changed that, but there's a new bill out of the blue.
@dave, oddly enough this unit is 18 years old and had been running fine, just blew a Capacitor. Johnny5 is alive now, hopefully for a while.
Well I almost forgot about posting some pics from where we were on the Fourth of July, and the awesome scenery I want to build from it.
First off is an old silo station on the Mississippi riverfront. I'm not sure if its sand, corn, or dead people in them silos. But I thought it was just a neat facility that could easily become necromundified.
Second is a geyser that is man made. This park is directly across the Mississippi from the gateway arch. It was a fantastic place for Fourth of July get together. Not crowded at all, got to see the same airshow, and the u.s. Air Force jazz band played for a few hours while jugglers, musicians, stilt walkers, and other performers played for the kids. The geyser goes off at odd times, I didn't look at the schedule of times but it seemed like 15 minutes after the hour. It reaches a height of 640' when winds are below 5 mph, which is the same height as the arch across the river. I think my necromunda town needs a sump geyser. Just for reference we were sitting about 1/4 mile from this geyser and getting a nice mist from it even when it was only half way to max height.
The next two are of an observation deck at the same park. It's high enough to see over the berm and get a full view up and down the Mississippi River. It's just a rectangular structured ramp that is three levels heigh, but I believe the sign said 64' tall. It looked out of place where it was, but you could easily stand at the top and just watch the barges go by.
Might see some of this coming to life in the future, kind of getting a scenery itch thanks to the dust buildings.
Edit: here's the dust building rebuilt as one building for the side of a table
And here it is with a big friend, dust figures next to dreamforge figures for comparison.
I think if I get into dust I will have to play Germans, because the dreamforge figs I have look excellent next to the dust people
Yep, play the Axis forces, it means that wearing the germanic armor and uniforms could be people from the nations that are under Axis control. That actually happened and was shown in a series about collaborators from all of Europe, They joined the crusade against communism that was touted by Germany whilst in Russia.
Dutch, Belgian, Norwegian, French, Hunagrian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Croats, you get the idea, just each unit from those nations wore special marks to differentiate each other from German units.
with the right base materials you will make that silo station in no time... that is for sure...
and the observation platform is a good way to get more walkways done in small space...if build the right way this could enhance playability quite to some extent!
and the gysir is a cool idea... currently such ideas are way out of my league so no help here from me... as i never got my hands on some water effects ... but with some tinkering one could make something out of PVA maybe...(i always like to think up a way to do it at a third of the rate)
and:
but there's a new bill out of the blue
yeah... haven´t we all had it that way, way too often ?
and even worse... you get one of these seldom warm rains (money) from out of the blue... and suddenly the world is full of peeps that grab for it... IRS and such maggots...
Got a letter from them the other day. They still are holding back $2500.00 from our taxes, were still waiting on that. They send us a letter every 45 days saying they are still looking into it, and it may take up to 45 days for them to get an answer. Well we have another 40 days or so till we get the next one I guess.
is the IRS getting all religious on you or what? that time amount is way too close to one fella i´ve heard from that spent these day in the desert...... really... we have currently some stuff moneywise in the waiting too... and currently the clerk is on holidays... but mind you... this is the best governmental clerk i have ever met... she even phoned us before she went on holidays to make sure we don´t loose our temper... soon she will finsih everything for us and i think we are due for such a arm rain
speaking of... what has become of your last work issue? anything worthwhile happeing for you to get your court affirmed money?
Gaming terrain, models, Dust stuff lots of posts, it's taken me all morning to catch up with what you've been doing Theo! the Dust models are cool, I have heard of Dust but don't know anything about it really :-) is it similar to what Paulson Games is bringing out?
I am also really enjoying the Necromunda terrain you have! man it just looks so cool when you have a bunch doesn't it! I completely sympathise with you in regards to hoarding! :-) I have so much stuff lying around and more to buy that I think I will be a fixture of Dakka for at least the next 40 years!
Reading the fluff, it all changed at Stalingrad 1942. The Germans won with their new walkers, but Hitler was assassinated, most of the SS were eliminated or re-integrated.
dsteingass wrote: Reading the fluff, it all changed at Stalingrad 1942. The Germans won with their new walkers, but Hitler was assassinated, most of the SS were eliminated or re-integrated.
So the insane and radical elements were dealt with and the sane and smart Germans took over and kept things afloat
I haven't read it all yet, but yes, basically the German Generals took over the Reich. Rommel is the Axis Supreme Commander. Stalin severed all ties with the Allies to go it on his own...
@vik, it's a conspiracy man , I won my case against my former employer when I had that really long phone case. They didn't contest it again as the judge had even mentioned to the human resource manager on the phone a few things and hinted that there's a possible legal action I could take against them for my dismissal. If I hadn't won it you would have seen a lot less progress on here in the form of new things, but may have seen more completed work with paint, so you win some, and you lose some.
@nerdfest, as long as the wife doesn't kill me I will be here with you for the next 40 years. Not sure of the dust rules. Just picked up the terrain and those two figs come in the box. I also haven't looked at the Paulson game at all. Just have gotten some of his bits over the years and they are great quality. I was hoping he would have brought back some bits since GW got slapped down by chapterhouse, so far nothing.
@shaso and Dave, if all the radicals were taken over, then how are there zombie suicide bombers??? I think just the really nutty nut jobs disappeared, or at least went underground, but at least the German lasses have taken up arms while wearing schoolgirl uniforms for the fatherland!
I really need to get back to my lav, competition ends in a week, but not sure when I might be able to bust out the airbrush. There are spots I just cannot reach behind the wheels that will require its touch.
Just stick to one color and you'll be fine. no need to tear it all down to clean that way.
I'd like to revise my earlier fluff statement. The first change is that early on, one of the German Archaeological teams (like in Indiana Jones) led by Manfred Kreuzer found an alien element (mineral VK) in Antarctica in 1938 that provides limitless power. The Blutkreuz Corps is formed to study Mineral VK. That's what makes the walkers possible. The leader of this team becomes a NEW extreme player in the Reich. It is suspected that the Blutkreuz Corps were behind Hitler's assassination, but no proof. The Zombies and are the results of experiments on mortally wounded German troops using the Wiederbelebungsserum. The Gorillas are the result of late-thirties experiments on enhanced Gorillas intended to pilot rockets.
Automatically Appended Next Post: so..Theo..can I clarify..The Operation Cerebus expansion comes with THREE floors of the building panels?
It makes three floors. Let me grab the sheet for parts.....
15 outside corners, 3insid corners, 6support walls, 15 walls, 6 narrow windows, 6 wide windows, 2support windows, 2doorways, 3 3x1 floors, and 3 2x1 floors in the box with the two figs.
How does that match up with just the building box? Need to know which is the more economical route to go in the future.
The instructions list multiple ways to set up the buildings including a game with a three building setup. Looks like this is the better deal, but let me know what's in the smaller set if you would.
Yeah, the Tenement box only comes with two floors. The Expansion box is a much better deal @ $32!
I wish I knew that before I bought a second tenement box
Quick update on mecha front. Paulson started a new website just for that game. It's still barebones, but he will be adding more content later. Basic rules for he game as well as an image file of future models are available or PDF download for $1.00. That will let you play the game before investing in it.
Edit: got. Small pack of bits in the mail. Some servo skull searchlights, figured I'd make something out of them, even if just searchlights when I actually had the bits in my hands I found the mounting pole to be kind of useful. I've been looking for a way to make bike mounted servo skulls so here's the first mock up.
The heels are from space marine bikes with white tubing inside that happens to fit the rod for the search light. This allows the wheels to roll freely. Designed it similar to the batman motorcycle. I figure I can mount bolters over the front forks, and will try and find some bits to cover the center axel and make a motor mount/seat/input device for the servo skulls.
@ dark apostle 666, I'll have to watch the batman movie again, but I believe I could say the rear tire remain flat while the front one leans the direction of travel desired. Welcome by the way.
@dave, yes, now I just need the maxi bike for the attack bike.
@Dr. H, thanks, I always liked the lower profile, now this guy just needs to drive around screaming "akira"
Waiting on a few more bits to arrive, but also looking at ordering more plastic from Iplasticsupply.com, probably a stack of the .080 to fit the dust buildings. The only thing stopping me right now is shipping costs. Almost as much to have it shipped as the materials I think I have about half my original order from them of the .030, but next time I might bump it up to the .040 thickness.
Theophony wrote: now this guy just needs to drive around screaming "akira"
Oh, if you make one like Kaneda's bike I'll love you forever. I saw someone made an Ork version of that bike (very cool) and it is on my list of things to build.
dsteingass wrote: I use the 0.40 myself, better to layer two pieces for detail than one 0.80 IMHO.
Once again I bow to your genius , didn't even think of that, might make the order easier.
@Dr. H. Just make sure o have it going after a tyranid or daemon.....now I've got to rewatched the movie, it's been too long. The other idea I had was to get some transparent colored plastic and make light cycles. I didn't see the new torn movie, so it might not be a good idea.

Well yeah, would HAVE to make a Tetsuo counts-as daemon to do that properly...
Indeed, haven't watched the film for quite a while myself, but I did re-read the manga recently so all good. (The manga is very worth a look if you are into the artwork in particular).
Light-cycles would also be cool. I've also failed to see the new film so far. But that's what the internet is for (Looking up pictures for inspiration, not for seeing films that you should be paying for obviously...).
Quick update before bed time, early mornings this week.
Squad expanded to include a second bike, and attack bike. Still need to figure out weapon spots, armor and other bits, but so far I'm happy with them.
Night
@vik, yeah the bike is going to get more detail, hopefully today, just too much happening yesterday.
@shaso, it is the defiler body swivel bit in the center. I'll have to rig a platform to sit on top of it and hold the weapon. They will most likely be needing to lean to steer, hence in the photo why the one is tilted to the side.
My wife's mini vacation is over, she has cheap leading practices each week now, and this week they are having a little kids cheer camp. The current chearleaders run the camp and teach children grades 1-3 and 4-6 in two separate batches. My wife is there to coordinate the groups, and my daughters are each attending. Unfortunately they are each in a different group at different times of the day so it's multiple trips up to the school to take them, and pick them up.
Kids re waking up now so it's time to make breakfast and get the day rolling.
Just forum, not happening.....
Fast attack dreadnought.
Well while working on the attack bike and its escort I had an idea of the tempest chicken feet, no not buffalo wing sauce , but the actual talons. Remember I wanted this to be able to be used as a land speeder, storm talon, or a storm raven, or storm eagle (thought don't know their rules). So while using the sentinel legs I decided to use more drop pod bits, namely the straps that are to hold marines in place.
Here is a landed tempest chicken supporting its own weight.
And a front shot of it walking
And since it must carry a dreadnought to be a storm raven.
And profile of it picking up the unit in a combat zone
Lastly a picture of it flying with gear up.
Front
Side
The jets pivot, but need a little poster tack to hold them in place. They also still need some work.
The lights on either side of the cockpit swivel together to spotlight enemy targets.
The flamer under the cockpit is magnetized on, other options to come later.
Wingtip missiles are just poster tacked on for now, but will probably get glued.
Can anyone think of additions I need, besides the egg shaped compartment for the servo skulls that will be attached to the back?
@Dr. H, thanks, below is the last addition I think it will have.
@Dave, glad it came out that way, I was hoping, but my plans don't always turn out okay.
Well, now it can be a storm raven because attached is the troop carrying department. It can fit more than ten servo skulls, but they wind up a bit scrambled .
This addition already came preprinted as well .
Hopefully my pun didn't lay an egg .........'cricket noise' thanks everybody, I'm here all week
You, your slaanesh craziness, and TEMPTRESS chickens.......not a good combination. I will leave your thread in the same shape I found it. I need to take a shower after typing that last line anyway.
So the bare jets that are on the second tempest chicken needed some detailing. I had asked before and people though putting the wire mesh on it was a good option, but how to finish off the bottom of it? Well I had bought these servo skull spotlights from the fortress of redemption thinking I could use them in my army, but the skulls are ogryn sized, so no fitting in. Well, nothing a knife can't fix.
Jet exhaust was made using a 3/4 in circle cutter then cutting the center of that out with a 9/16 to fit the spotlight.
These will be the bottom or business end of the VTOL system.
The top will look something like this
Thinking of making a propeller system for inside, I've kept track of Viks progress, and have an idea from everyone's suggestions, especially our own Dr. H.
So I really should measure better , one side of the smooth jet has a larger opening, 3/4" inside diameter, but it turned out for the best in my opinion.
The exhausts fit inside the ring which gave it another layer. And if there's anything we ogres have in abundance it's layers.
Here's the intake vents, I need to make some ultra small rivets.
I also worked on the troop bay in case people didn't like the egg idea.
I was inspired by bill Murray in "what about bob", I can only imagine the servo skulls turning to each other and blurting in binary "I'm flyyyyyying"
Combat drop.
Looks good. Sounds good. Look forward to the results.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, I'm not entirely sold on the egg. I was envisioning many smaller eggs, like one per skull... but work with what you got.

If I could find a scale egg carton this would be perfect

Simplicity is what the imperium should be about. The emperor could care less about the menials, so give them the barest of support, and tanks should be minimalist if as well. Who needs seat belts when we figure your not going to be around long anyways
dsteingass wrote:The drop-rail is fantastic!
Just worked out that way, originally was just a landspeeder, now I'm thinking about making a thunder chicken transporter, or just the thunder chicken itself with space for 30 servo skulls, and. Big gun on top .
@bama, thanks. The thunder chicken deluxe will have to wait until I have enough of a force together.....basically forever.
While the kids played hide and seek I started thinking about the assault skulls. They needed to be bulked up a bit from basic servo skulls, but do I really need to have full assault troops?
Here's the initial idea. I'm not sold on it yet, but it still needs mechandrite arms and a few mechandrites coming out of the waist to go to the base as legs/supports.
I'm going to use this chest plate for all of them, and use the dark angels emblem for wings similar to the blood angels wings on the sanguinary guard.
The jump packs are the retro thrusters from a drop pod with the searchlight back as the top, and dark angel emblem wings.
I wanted the thrusters to look overpowered just like the marine packs, just slightly smaller. Also thinking of trying a double jet pack.
One of the arm spots will probably house. Bolt pistol or plasma pistol an the other arm have a c.c. Mechandrite.
lol thats great man would have to see the whole thing mocked up before i give final judgement but looking good so far
for your super thunder chicken i recommend getting a bucket of kfc to help you along you know for "inspiration"
That thing looks kinda cool, but for assualt servo skulls I think it's too much. I would imagine something more like the Culexus assassin heads. The skull is there but there's sort of a disk build around the back of it. That's where the engine and laser and other stuff would go... come to mention it, the laser should be in the eye.
Those skull carriers look super cool, too. I'd go with the matching set of engines, to put my to cents in there.
Also, what's going on with that four wheeled thing in the background? If it's already been posted, just let me know and I'll go looking for it.

The four wheeled thing is the start of the attack bike. There are some two wheeled versions also on the previous page or two. I just got inspired to finish off the tempest chickens.
Hopefully tomorrow night will be productive as the daytime will be spent over at the grandparents again. I need to make a supply run for plastic rod and square tube soon, as I'm almost out. Also ordered more bits to make more bikes and stuff, just waiting now.
the tempest chicken with those big claws looks wicked... that is a winning ticket for sure!... the fans and all other details are coming currently with ease from your sleave that is making me dizzy^^
as for the assault marine...hmm... you stated you wanted an overpowered jumppack... ok...but i have to tell you my friend that the DA wings look punny and give and air of fat fairy....:
which i think shows what i think of that idea... com´on... go plastic card on this... you know you can do that!
oh and i forgot... those harnessed servoskulls remind me of the ghost arc of the necrons... that has a ton of style mate!
It does worry me sometimes the pictures and videos you saved, not that you have them, but that I think about saving hem for later use, and my wife finding them
Vik your gonna hav to work harder to tempt me than whispering sweet nothing's and posting your pic in my thread .
Got back from grandparents, five trash cans full and they also have greed to get rid of he old magazines. I took maybe a Quarter of what they had stacked. They were in the plastic magazine holders, which fit 8-10 magazines each. I took them to my wife's school to recycle them, I had 46 of those bins that were full and a couple handfuls of loose magazines , at least there's some future in getting I'd of 40 year old cooking magazines. Their basemen is over 3000 sq. ft., four months in and I've got a dent started. I don't even want to start on the Christmas wall they have 20+ wreaths, each with its own container, unfortunately none are in them.
First assault servitor. What can I make for the waist section? Maybe just a collar and exposed mechandrites?
totally that...! this is what i picutre these already... they wont look nice at all but will command respect with each fibre (i just recognized the old handflamer on the shoulder...hmmm.....not sure about that....)
and wow... your grands seem to be quite some hoarders... well i suppose you collct stuff all the more readily when you have a house of your own and never indended to leave that... (moveing...)
and... that´s still not me... ´m not that belly gifted... not that hairy...unfortunatly... and i have early on decided that purple, pink and lilac will never be part of ANY attire i will be adorn myself with...not even over my dead body
and if you pick on me again with such stuff... i will tell you of my adventures in new vegas
what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, even if its a digital Vegas.
I had a bolt pistol for the shoulder, but I dropped it and can't find it. I might get rid of the hand flamer, and put a bolt pistol there if I can find a spare, otherwise he might get a grenade launcher since he can't toss anything. One of the squad will have to get a melta gun or flamer.
how many tendrils do you inted to add anyway? there is a style rule i think with flowers in a vase... always take an uneven number... i would follow that rule with tendrils dangling from servowarriors chests too
Vik talking about flower arrangement and the ties to mechanicus mechandrites , two things I never would have put together.
I don't want too many, why would he need them anyways, he's got no legs to attach them to .
You might not be able to see from the pic, but he has a central column (spine), and an access tube, to protect the cabling.
Here is assault skull2. Wanted him to be more of a bad , possibly a rogue khorne servo skull Side view
Rear view
And other side
Three more to go for this squad.
Nope, everything is stock GW, plastic rods, guitar wire, ca glue and skin stuck to it from glue.... tiny pieces and fat fingers Rest of squad progress from this morning.
Checking with local plastic dealer today, might have found alternative stock supplier, it would be nice not to have to pay $30.00 in shipping on each order for flat stock plastic.
and skin stuck to it from glue.... tiny pieces and fat fingers
LOL... didn´t knew that qould qualify for good modeling materials...
no shipping=fat man happy dance.
yup... absolutly the right decision then!
and the rougue khorne servo skull looks ace... tho the rod as such could be a bit thicker in my view...or will there be some special treatment? some further skin adding?
by the way... the not-chainsaw end of the pole looks wicked... where is it from?
The not chainsaw end is the sensor tip from the ravenwing land speeder bit. I have dozens of them, and it looked like it could be a good zap bit. Kind of like a cattle prod. It also could fit around a gangers wrist and then the electric circuit could be used as a restraint. We are the police after all.
I am trying to exhaust my bits supply, which may never happen, but at least use up lots of really common bits. When I was building the theophony I came up with lots of extra bits in the process. I needed certain bits of he ravenwing sprue, so I just bought the whole sprue and sold off stuff I didn't need. It actually funded the expansion of my army as the bits I wanted were ones others didn't care for. I even made a deal to get 30 ravenwing sprue at $3.00 each, cut off the bits I wanted, then resold them for $7.00 each. Which allowed me to get more of the sprue and continue the cycle. I eventually made about $300.00 in a month and got all my shoulder pads for the theophony.
Now I still have tons of the other parts to work with.
It was. Good time for those bits, everyone was building bike armies, the overpacked each box with that sprue, basically they could have cut the sprue differently and saved tons, and like I said I was looking for bits others didn't want. I was also building up my marines hardcore at the time. I was able to get mass numbers and get cash back by selling off the studded shoulder pads, beakie helmets, and other items. I also traded stuff into thewarstore.com when they were doing bits. It really surprised me how much further I was able to get with my dollar by doing so.
Edit: so the company down the street sells and stocks the plastic, but minimum order is $1500.00, I'm not even a third of the way through my last order six months ago and it was less than $100.00. They gave me another local company, but they only deal with businesses, could use my wife's, but don't want to get into that mess. I guess I can hold off for a while before ordering anything, just wanted to check options.
Good luck with your plastic sourcing Theo. $1500 is quite some minimum order Assault skulls looking good as a group...
Ooo, another brainwave, if these are still with the whole janitor thing... maybe give one of them a lawnmower (a la Braindead) or something similar?
No picture of first one, it was only the servitor bits from the storm raven. I wanted to make another servitor like the ones I made a while back.
Here's the other drop
Plastic rod, tube and flat stock for more servo skull army bits. Also a couple sheets of 0.080 thick plasticard. They were $2.56 each instead of $6.89 each. They were really old, but nothing wrong with them. They will be great for the dust tactics building floors. He plastic cup thing is actually rescued from our recycling bin. It's one of the wife's razor blade containers, but looks like a condenser or vent to me.

The shop has a small plastruct rack with the specialty stuff, and a small evergreen rack. I need to find some other local shop which carries more variety.
When I hit the lottery I think I'll place an order with that local plastic company. They make the sheets in rolls up to 60" wide, they usually stock the sheets 4'x8'. They Also form plastic parts, so I'll have all my own designed bulkheads mass produced .
Dr. Hinternet Dr. Hinternet to your p&m blog stat!
dsteingass wrote:Evergreen is always cheaper, and you get a lot for your money too. They just don't have all the specialty shapes like Plastruct does.
really? I recently found a guy at ebay here for my own PC needs that sells small and thin rods he makes on his own...maybe there is an option for American buyers at your ebay too?
and nothing say a warm welcome like a nice flamer, eh?^^
@shaso, I might have worked, but VIk said "please" and "no" @Vik, I'll have to look into it, Lord knows I have enough sprue left over to grind/melt down for these.
Also not complete yet, but here is the beginning of assault terminator1
The second pic shows a pretty bare side. I still have to come up with a light for that side. Thethunderhammer is replaced on the first pic with a "sonic stunner" has same effect as a thunder hammer, rendering opponents incapable of retaliation, and can be adjusted to affect vehicles and buildings with devastating results
You're a madman Theo!.I still need to send you and shas your packages. I'm horrible I know...
@Vik- I'm sure there are other options,GF9 resells shapes in their bags, MicroMark sells another brand of embossed sheet, but Evergreeen and Plastruct have the distribution network to most train/hobby shops in the US Via Midwest Products. Plastruct has their own network since they are so specialized. The model railroaders keep the demand up.
Oh mah gawd theo!! everything is really looking so good man! I am loving the servo skull ideas, they are inspired! the Termi idea is giving me a strong Guitarasmas vibe :-)
so, how large is the force going to be and are you building these magical models to a list or just winging it? seeing them with a nice outfit of paint will be like Christmas!
@dave, no rush on my package, I picked some of the bits up while ordering others off ebay. I'll still take those if your willing to part with them, but if you'll need them for your projects then don't worry. Either way I appreciate the offer.
@nerdfest, just winging it dude. Thanks for the compliment, I love guitarasmus work. I haven't played a game of 40k in over a decade. I used to enjoy it, but my gaming group all moved, got married, and disappeared into witness relocation years ago. I've gone to the local shops to try and break into a new group but I hate hearing every few seconds, and can't even take my kids in there. When I worked at two different game stores and a hobby shop that sold games years and years ago swearing was not allowed. You had to come up with better words. That's why I'm only doing bloodbowl now with my brother in law. He has a few friends that play axis and allies that I just haven't been able to schedule time to get together with. But right now I'm just enjoying the build process.
Finished assault termi number 2.....warning he has lightning claws, I think he will be designated "Logan" With his squad mate
All termis hanging out, decided to remove the motor part on the other termis, they will get lights similar to these two later.they were looking too top heavy even for GW standards.
I see Logan driving up next to the culprit and just spinning around in circles leaving a bloody mess. I guess with the right motive devices he could just pinch together the claws and remove a car door like a rolling undead jaws of life .
In other news, Jazzed that they remade a cleaned up art wise Space Battleship Yamato, 2199, characters are more up to dater, CGI assists make for more fluid space battles, and they seem to have gone more in depth about the Galaxy in the new revised Universe.
@comrade, I'll try to post pic next to a marine, but they have the bulk.
Mowed lawn and realized what was bothering me about the bikes. The center being round was making any build too difficult so I boxed it, and shortened the center and came up with this prototype
hmmmm.... the logan idea i see and understand but don´t feel it...i think the claws are too spaced out...
but what i really like is the storm shoild with pistons... that really says get outa my way!!!
and while the bike now looks like a bike... it still lacks a certain thing, without a seat it is a bit weird looking... of course a servo skull doesn´t need any seats as he is one with the bike frame... but, well, you know what i´m talkin´about
Well, I don't know the first thing about wines, but I can usually pick the best type of beer for any meal, at least to my palette anyways Honestly though, as I get older, all alcohol does is make me sleepy.
Theophony wrote: What sort of extras doc, give it to me straight.
I'm not entirely sure, just feel like it needs some more bike-y-ness...
I've not built many bikes (one 1:12 racing bike), so I'm not up on what it needs to be a bike.
I was thinking some sort of bodywork. Like a mudguard on the front wheel, because like that it's going to clog up the front of the skull pretty quick.
Yeah, 59F is 11C- very, very nice. The earlier jungle-like humidity and all the rain has been really good for my small garden and for breeding mosquitoes, but that's about it
If it wasn't for my kids fighting yesterday ALL day, it would have been the perfect day. Mowed the lawn, did other yard work, spent a few hours at a park, to home then grilled and chilled. Think I need to drink more water though as I was getting real irritable (possibly dehydrated). Today were going over o a friends house we haven't seen in almost a year since we've moved. Thy invited us for BBQ and to go swimming in their pool. Food, fun and fellowship
I got up early this morning hoping to get inspiration for the attack bike or other units to no avail. Figured out how to remove he wheels off the lav, so of it base coated black without the airbrush. Also took apart the second lav while I was at it. Won't get it done in time for the competition, but it will eventually get done.
Here's the best of what I had worked up on the attack bike, still not liking it. The cockpit like on the tempest chicken jus looks too large here. It would be able o swivel, thereby allowing the driver to change direction in tight quarters of the underhive, and the weapons would be mounted on the side of the cockpit.
But in the end I hunk it will look more like the bike, with a skull on either side, possibly both facing the same direction, possibly not. The center will probably just be a turret mount and I'll rig up the weapon system there.
dsteingass wrote: I think using the airbrush would've been less work than taking the wheels off don't you?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I like the fairing/cockpit thing
Easier.....yes, waking the kids up as well as waking up momma . During summer break she gets to sleep in late, and during he day my modeling time is heavily reduced. Once she's up then it's non stop, unless if she has plans with friends.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Back from a day at the pool, found some supplies when I got home.
8 sets of wheels for bikes, and 16 searchlight sets for the wheel axels. I guess I better nail down my plan soon.
Picked this up while I was out. Ran out of the bottle on the left, used half of it on my fingers, guess I should stop that.
Watching battleship in the background while planning stuff out. Hopefully I won't get sidetracked.
dsteingass wrote: Fantastic! you keep pumping them out! Very inspired!
Shaso mentioned Mr. Gutsy on my Thread, Theo, you should build one!
Well I had a similar idea for a droid, but had no use for him in the army list, don't know what he could count as....
Put this together, not sold on the arms though.
That is why I must not play fallout 3, none of you would have any fun as I would destroy he game .
Couldn't get the modeling mojo going, so slapped some paint around.
Basic ski tone on the frosty mugs
And
Hard to tell, but it's a matte black basecoat on my Paulsongames.com raptor for the mechafront.com game. I just can't decide on color, probably just basic grey, with some details. I just can't get it into my head that they would ever camouflage a giant walking robot. Really when it takes a step your going to know where it is. Maybe f I was a good painter I'd try to make it look like a faint walking McDonald's sign or something like that. Because they're everywhere.
you can almost hear the "sproingggg" of the springs of the arm reaching out with that cool looking fist!
If it wasn't for my kids fighting yesterday ALL day, it would have been the perfect day.
that could be my epitaph too.... low on food or drink... or when they are tired they bicker and fight amongst themselves no end... and then... just like the changing of the weather all of a sudden they are again a two headed organism working in perfection and play hapily together... it is totally vexing... and mind you... when they fight the kids gloves are totally off.... i have to go inbetween then more than once a day... arghhh^^
Thanks selvaggiosaky. It might not be as cool as da buldoza, but he is one of my favorites.
@vik, now I just have an image of you fighting a two headed midget and getting stomped , no wonder your hooked on Las Vegas, there you have a chance of being in charge. With three I just try to salvage part of my sanity every day. The models keep me company and give me little pep talks to keep me going.
Current state of the frosty mugs, original color scheme has changed, but liking the change what do you guys think? I've never done dwarves before, but beginning to like them. Also anyone who has painted leather before, what color wash do you use on it?
@nerdfest, I'll give the gryphone sepia a try, thanks @Dr. H, thanks, one of the reasons I never wanted to paint guard was because of skin tones and hair, but liking doing the dwarves, because the hair came out well and who knows what real dwarf flesh looks like @dave, thanks, and hopefully the reddish wash will be helpful in keeping the hair and leather looking different.
Here's a close up of the one mostly finished blitzer. I don't even use h blitzers on my team normally. Rather have another lineman with tackle to start off and crunch some dodgey elves and goblins.
Lol, totally missed that. But I guess hobbits eat anything.
I used that wash on their hair vik, so I tried Ogryn flesh for the leathers. Will try pics in the morning. Full day of wife and kids today, so not much happened hobby wise.
I keep forgetting to pop this photo up
Supply drop from a few days go. More of the searchlights from the dark angel fortress, which I use as wheel axels for my bikes, and some wheels to use them with Also got these on Monday
Mad Donna Ulanti, which I got from inmygravenimage , and the defiler bits I to from an uk bits site, they will be used for the attack bike when I get back to it.
Did a Little more painting on the frosty mugs this morning, but nothing enough to warrant a photo. Added two more of the dwarves to bases as on that I had started I just realized most of the detail on it was obscured by he previous owners paint job an the primer. So that dwarf is going to take a bath in some super clean. The other is another berserker who is going to get a different paint job, and possibly get converted into a star player.
It was a bit of hobby karma , I had sent him some khorne stuff for his shrine, and he gave me first dibs on this .
Looking back I did post one of those pics earlier , but forgot about it as well, guess being older I forgot it too
Most o the morning has been with the kids, and were going to a water park at lunch time, so not much to show. But I did squeeze in some time on the attack bike.
Nothing's glued in yet, and still not feeling it. But trying to make something similar to
It must operate as a marine attack bike so the twin bolter is going between the front wheels. A pilot will sit on the swivel with the heavy weapon, and an engine with the rocket will be in between the rear wheels.
honestly? try to get the toy... there are so many out there of that bat car/tank... i think it would be the quickest and easiest and all for one way to keep you most of your top hair... that look really is one hell of a complicated one...
Automatically Appended Next Post: besides... your version as of now look more like the moonlander... which is also very fine!... and perhaps even a bit more true to the theme...?
Viktor von Domm wrote: ah... yes i see, you used the biker fronts... hmm... currently i have no ideas....
Well at least we're in the same airship!
Had to pack EVERYTHING away for a party we are having tomorrow. My wife has invited the entire English department over for a team building event, with all their kids . They get the basement while all the team and their spouses will be upstairs. My kids know better than to touch my stuff, but ten plus other kids the same age and younger. I think if I knew this I would have rigged up electric fencing.
Not just kids I'm worried about, adults can be just as bad, especially really bored husbands of English teachers . We love to look at things, touch them, and accidentally break them because we're clumsy. While cleaning off the workstation I made sure to shelve the servo skull janitors and army figures up higher Han most kids can reach. It was satisfying to see how much I accomplished in such short of a time. I'll try and get pics of it later.
What's really upsetting is that all the bits I had dug for and had organized in piles on my desk got unceremoniously boxed up. But diggin for gold is fun to me so I'm sure I'll find them again.
In the mean time I just saw the new league competition, recycled underhive will be my first project when I'm back in business. I have a couple ideas. Either a power station, or a ganger house. Still trying to decide which, any suggestions? I had cruelly found bits last night during he cleanup and said "hey this would be cool for........", hen saw the competition his morning. Can tell if it was God giving me a head start on everyone else because he knows the party will sidetrack me, or if it was he devil having fun by sidetracking me from the servo skull army.
A third idea just hit me while typing this. I better go write it down before I forget .
I still haven't found exactly how I want my game area setup, so this is just a step towards getting h basement how I want it .
Holy styrene batman I'm at 50 pages , that's 49 pages further than I thought I would ever get thanks everyone for your time and imput on my thread I'm all chocked up
Okay enough sappy get back to work all of you not suffering through a heat wave. It's 33 degrees centigrade here right now, and three more hours roughly till the hottest part of the day. We have 30+ people coming over and I'm supposed to BBQ for all of them at that time , I guess I've been trying to loose weight, but sweeting like this is less fun than working out.
love to look at things, touch them, and accidentally break them because we're clumsy.
that sounds a tiny bit autobiographical, innit?^^
and well...50 pages and you served us cool stuff all the way... not our fault to follow the damned piper if he makes those sweet tunes all the way
But diggin for gold is fun to me so I'm sure I'll find them again.
i think that is the main reason i try to join so many comps recently... they make me dig through my bitzboxes ...

lol... i really wonder if martians now come in there... if you blame god or the devil.... then what ever could be the third option... sublimal messages during the nigt from your wife during sleep?...suspense is killing me...
also... be sure just to place it on a CD... brain seems to be doing this for educational reasons... and you can´t go more classic than CD based terrain!
Isn't that just to catch your old thread, or get to where vik is now??? There is plenty more to come, no worries here.
All the teachers have left now , I spent two hours on the grill today cooking brats, dogs, and burgers I'm more well done than the food. Then listened like a wallflower as they talked about students, faculty, and state laws on education . I try to be a good host, but the only pauses that showed up are or were teachers also . I'm tired now, hopefully have mod energy in the am.
Cooking brats? Were the kids that bad behaved that you chucked them on the grill? And as for dogs, hope you peeled the fur off first, nothing worse than getting that stuck in your teeth...
Dakka ate my hilarious post. I'm to funny for it,and it was too long to re type. Needless to say everyone survived the party. The kids were great any funny as heck. The adults had fun in treachery sorts of ways . And no one even went into the basement, so my stuff was safe .
On to competition news couldn't sleep last night, even after two showers I still smell like a turkey burger. But while I was tossing and turning I was trying to think of an idea for the terrain competition. Drawing from what got me into warhammer fantasy (my first miniature wargamesfactory), I remembered the one piece of terrain that was THE objective to take every game....the outhouse . So I figure I can make one of those for fantasy and one for 40k, and I think I have the perfect starting pieces for it.
They had to be something a new warhammer would have. Who doesn't have loads of dice? The cubes are the dice boxes that one gets from buying bricks of d6s, and I have had them sitting around for years doing nothing. So that should fit the requirements of recycled/repurposed/reused. Both together would fit on a cd, so I think I'm safe there. The 40k version will just be turned into a Johnny on the spot and the fantasy one will become a true outhouse. Bothe will get treatment using plastic card that any new gamer can easily get for free by grabbing a few gift cards at Walmart, or using the spent I tunes cards they have gotten on birthdays and holidays.lets not throw those in the rubbish bins. Time to start chopping
even after two showers I still smell like a turkey burger
LOL...
the dakka ate my post... that always happens with my wifes comp... this is so frustrating!!
i really like your outhouse idea... MR Merlin did an outhouse for the cookie competition in the second comp...maybe you check his gallery... but you are aiming for a modern "dixi" toilet (that´s how they are called here...) and he made a wooden one...also... what about the throne? will you make an insde for this?
Never want to run across that gaunt anywhere, much less in a toilet. The inner workings will not be functional on these to allow larger models to fit inside. We had great fun with the outhouses in our games, ah the memories.
ah so i understand you will leave the outhouse inside emptty and the case as such to be still being able to open...aha!...clever idea...is the mini inside then in full cover?
Opponent gets full cover save, but flame weapons do double damage stupid computer issue last night. Hit submit, walked away for date night Witt the wife, and nothing went through.....maybe dakkadakka has had enough of me and my humor.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Well, everyone seems quiet today. I hope I don't wake too many up with my latest. It is going to be part of my competition entry. For the competition this will be a separate piece, not sure what it will count as besides a BFG, but later I intend on making a second home for it as part of a building.
Orbital killer gun
Business end
In the far future this will be part of a defense building, but the building here is only a part of the whole. I have additional base pieces, so one will be made to be an outpost weapon, for the competition, but the gun itself will later be transported to the roof.
The ball of the weapon is a Lego kit part. Basically planets, this is supposed to be an asteroid field. The cup it sits in is the top from a kool aid mix bottle. The focusing bit is left over part from my ultrasonic cleaner. Tubing and rivets are.....tubing and rivets from pc.
The gun has a tilt of 180 degrees and can spin freely in the cup. It can be used as an objective in 40k, apocalypse, hopefully with the dreamforge game as an anti leviathan weapon, and maybe even with mecha front.
As always comments, suggestions, and Snide remarks are always taken .
deathstar set would have been great...if only the store had one at the time. I picked this one up a while back and was going to use it for a power plant, but then this came up. the only problem I see with the death star would be the divet in it where the maingun fires from, it would have looked awkward in my design, but would have loved the panels molded on it.
