I'd say that that spot's way too close to other player's buildings, given the size of your neighbour's stuff, and that you'e intending to build a large fort too. There's plenty of places that aren't close to others, so its advisable to build there to prevent issues developing. =P
I build a cobble bridge there so I could cross without having to jump around like an idiot trying to get out of the pit that was made. But what worthless piece of trash does something like that? That was obviously someone's construction (mine), and if you don't realize that from looking at it you're an idiot...
All signs from the investigation point to this being iLordNoob.
Wyrmalla and Shooms were also in the area on the same day (but were there before, not after and they have no netherbrick at the time).
iLordNoob, is it possible you took the netherbrick, but had run out of stonebrick to replace it, and forgot to go back and fill in the gap? Anyway, as you've apologised for the other netherbrick you removed and offered to help fix it, I'll let you off with a warning. I much prefer it when people can resolve their problems by talking to each other
I don't remember doing this and I defintelly wouldn't have not replaced the material on purpose so I probally did forget to go back and fill the gap. Sorry Mel, i'm coming on now to mine some netherbrick and replace all the damage.

I liked industrialcraft, even by itself (IE not using Tekkit or Technic packs) it's pretty fun, and meshes well with Minecraft anyway.

Well hop to it. Also, please don't mine netherbrick in nether tunnels that are marked with fething signs.
Using the inane amounts of cobble and coal from my previous poorly aimed quarry, I have constructed a new quarry. It will end up creating a pit almost 64x64x64 in size, as long as I keep it supplied with power from my MFE, which is supplied by two geothermal reactors. Also using the lapis gotten from the previous quarry (which is hidden underground), I made a lap-pack and went back in to the nether to get more ores and GS. Using THAT, I managed to make a basic EE setup that produces lava cells, which fuel the geothermal reactors (it can also take buckets, or lava piped directly in to it through waterproof pipes, but at the moment I couldn't be arsed to mess with a pneumatic pipe system in my small-ish home).
There was tiny, single layer outcrop of dirt that I turned in to an overseer's home looking directly out in to the pit

Don't use oil in tekkit! Please don't! It will always explode. Always.
Consider energy links for all of your buildcraft energy needs.
Also, on the Dakka Server, I've got a problem.
I walked into the spawn bank, to speak to a teller.
The teller came out, but proceeded to growl and attempt to attack me...
The undead should not have working rights.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm also having a problem.
My portal doesn't intersect any others in the overworld, but when I come into the nether (into my little nook), then go back through, a new portal is generated on top of a base about 100 blocks away.
For tekkit I kinda want to know where you guys are playing, multiplayer-wise, if that server is still a thing which is being done.
Come up with interesting ideas for the city then. TBH I'm kind of bored of it as well, but it'd not finished really...
I do have another project I became bored of if you're interested, here.
Signs are down. There are no doors, so you have to break yourselves in (for now). Make sure you block up behind you the way it was (its just dirt, I want to to stay looking mountainey from the outside). There's a room with a bit of food and a bed and stuff surrounded by torches from the outside which everyone is free to use. If you take all the food, do leave a sign so I can check it and replenish.
I have a triple cave spider spawner, a zombie spawner, a cave spider spawner, and a skelly spawner all around the Chasmholm/Beanstalk area. The beasties must all be killed manually, but at least you have a door to them.
Anyone the cause of this issue? Fatal Error occurred (4): Null. I've turned off anti virus, so it isn't that at least.
Its not on my own computer, its a college one. I can run classic in browser, but not full (it either gives that error, or doesn't go past the update screen). =P
I can only run Classic in browser. I get the same error when running the full version either way. It freezes if you choose not to update, but if you do it gives that connection error.
I was more thinking that I've got feth all work to do in class, and I may as well justify my train fare here. =P

I'm at the 0,0 portal or roundabouts, trying to get to a good XP spawner where I don't have to endanger myself.
stand looking at the tunnel leading to Metal's main castle (the long rail tunnel) and look to your left, if you follow that tunnel then it should take you to Abs, it's the one beside the little netherwart farm.
VikingScott wrote: Out of interest what happens to banned players structures and stuff. Is it still protected or is it available?
Usually people give stuff to people they played with on the server, eg SkySlasher and I got Janje's stuff when he was banned
But unless they specifically give it to you I'm not sure
As a general rule, when someone is banned, their stuff is forfeit (even if they are later re-whitelisted). I have no problem with them giving their stuff to people still on the server, but they have no say in who can't have their stuff.
The cathedral darkinnit linked is co-owned by Absolutionis and myself. Anyone is welcome to look around and use the zombie grinder, but please ask one or both of use before changing anything.
also, for what its worth, if anyone wants cobblestone I've got 4736 and counting which you can feel free to help yourself to it if you are out my way (X446; Z565)
Its in the bit which says 'don't take from here' still, there are 4 chests facing eachother and its in them. I'll get to altering the signs after I do some more uni work. You can take the cobblestone/earth
I guess I could grab some extra when I go to pick it up and leave it in the city then. No point making two trips out of it when one can be done instead. Though I'll let you know when I do so not too much is taken.
I'm coring this mountain (for lack of a better term), so take all you want, in a few days it'll be back to full. I'm not so much building as destroying from the inside out. Its wood that I'm using, not stone
Also, if you show up on low low health for whatever reason watch your step, there are a few drops till I get it cleaned up. Nothing huge, just 1 or 2 hearts.
I took 20 cobble (including some for Mel) and 4 of dirt, could have fit more in but didn't want to take too much. I also left you 9 melon seeds and an ender chest in the double over by the bed near the wood. I'd save placing the chest until you have a nice spot for it because it'll just drop the 8 obby when broken.
I had to google what those two things are. Thank you very much, they are fancy fancy items. Seems minecraft has really expanded beyond just adding hunger since I stopped playing a while ago. I'll need to hop onto the wiki to have a good look. Good doing business with you

It could be someone who's left something for someone who wasn't online at the time. I'd say you could take it, but with the understanding that you might have to give it back if someone asks where it went. Communication is always key
I'm the closest one to it, but I've already got one, so you can have it. There's a nether portal in the cobble hut to the south (yup. that's the destination of all those "Blazes" signs).

Or grab lava out of the Nether. It's more plentiful there, and you're doing a service! I'd actually kinda like to see one of those lakes, or a portion of one, emptied of lava.
orkdestroyer1, I don't know if you are still playing or not, but you have a house just away from my mountain, if you need cobblestone just come help yourself. No need to bring anything to trade, I have 2 chests full and another filling up. I enjoy hawking cobblestone, it gives me a certain feeling of benevolence. ha
edit: OK what the hell was that. What is an Enderman and how did it show up in my mountain and kill me. A quick google later answered one of those, but how the hell did it get in? Its lit up well inside, definitely nowhere to spawn, and I haven't been near a window in ages...do they just teleport randomly?
Wait, so they won't teleport through water? If that is the case, I know exactly what I'll do, but it'll take a lot of earth, sand, coal and trips to the top of the mountain....
They can teleport past it, but when they touch water they will take damage, so if you make a button or so that will make qater flow into the room, you can take them down easily or they will just teleport away.
Endermen especially like to come inside when it's raining.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Easiest way to keep them out is to make a section of your home to have an interior 2.5 meters high (two blocks and a slab) instead of 3. The endermen won't be able to get in.

You could always set up an infinite pool on top of the mountain. Dig a 2x2 square, put a water in two corners like so:
WE EW where W is water and E is empty.
It's only better if you can't aim quickly. I've noticed no increase in productivity with a square over a trench because I can take water from the trench just as quickly as I can from the square.
motyak wrote: Wait, so they won't teleport through water? If that is the case, I know exactly what I'll do, but it'll take a lot of earth, sand, coal and trips to the top of the mountain....
At least once. You can use it as many times as you like on the sign, as long as there is at least one tilde on the sign, it will show up on the map when "Tilde Signs" is enabled.
Switches, that's all you need to make rails great, redstone powered rail switches, they could be 3x2 and have one rail go straight on while another goes off to the side. Also they need a way to make Powered carts and Coal not useless.
We already have them sort of. Sending power to a rail at some intersections changes the direction if I remember correctly. Could put it with detector rails and a delay.
n0t_u wrote: We already have them sort of. Sending power to a rail at some intersections changes the direction if I remember correctly. Could put it with detector rails and a delay.
Also this guy does some cool stuff.
I did not know that, That should work great
Also I love that 4 way intersection vid, the one that uses the soul sand in particular.
Edit: ARGH! goes both ways that Aren't the one I want
Yeah, if I were to do any I'd probably do that. He's also shown a video which pretty much converts those giant doors I was making a fair few pages back into an elevator by just switching out half of the door for stairs, something I'll probably do at some point for the under water base. Also Sky would probably like this one.
I'm sort of tempted to add an overworld ZPM farm in the industrial area of the city, however it'll have to be kind of small. I'm also leaving it up to Dark first before I start any work on it as it does work with portals.
Nothing as crazy as this.
But, the general idea of it. Being much much smaller it'll be slower, but fills up space as a building. They'll also not be ground level and blocked off to the villagers of course. The resources needed as well sort of make it annoying.
You know we have the resources to make a shotgun that shot people and at people. There's a yo dawg joke in there somewhere, but I'm not going to degrade myself by fishing it out.
a compass in the style of a rose made by wool that has been dyed rose red by red roses so that the overall effect is just some giant compass that looks some what like a rose O_o argh my brain is now melting, and i prefer castles myself
It seems like potatoes are much more efficient than wheat.
Thirty blocks of tilled ground yielded fourty to fifty excess potatoes (that is, after replanting), which after being cooked, results in about four times as much food as the equivalent amount of wheat.
So that puts them at about the same level as melons, all things considered.
The main problem will be actually getting a potato....
Saying you aren't going to say it is saying it anyway mate. I am slowly accepting that potatoes are going to be a part of everyday minecraft from now on, my beloved bread will be neutralised...
Tower garden level done (well I've still got to add some birch trees and little bits). Next...adding the walls and the other couple of floors before I hit the skybox. Adding a one high cobble wall to the perimeter used up half a dozen stacks. =/
Pointlessly elaborate front door (until I get around to making a proper gate). The big thing in the back's my tower (who'd've thunk it?), and what I'm falling off when the "Wyrmalla plummeted to his death like a dolt" appear.
A compass rose is the symbol on a map that shows north south east and west. Normally North will be pointing "up" from the view of the reader, and the Northern arm will be red, with the East, West, and South arms being white or black.
It's basically just a quick reference so you can tell when you're holding the map correctly, and allows you to use an actual compass with the map. By lining up the actual compass with the compass rose, you can quickly get your map lined up with the local terrain, and figure out where you're at.
XD Tah. Heh, I've realised my issue was making the diagonal blocks spaced one apart take up too much space, but meh. At least its mostly symmetrical.... kind of.
Hmn, does it look big enough, or perhaps I should expand it out another layer, say ten on each side. I was considering making an upside down garden on the roof of the room that it'll be in ( a snowy forest, as grass doesn't grow upside down ^^).
I'm thinking of making it a little like the Seattle needle, but with the central portion being taller. My house would be the little bit at the top, with a glass floor in bits so I could look down onto the pond. Looking at the needle though, I may add a balcony section mid way up (it'd give a use for those paths heading out from the water, just add some stairs at the end I guess.
Hmn, run out of cobble again though. ...And I did screw over a large hill for the dirt, not to mention sand.

Actually, that inspires me to make a bunch of houses.
Underneath the ocean. Glass roofs and maybe a few poking out of the sea itself.
Although, by no means am I complaining about them...
Its actually funny watching mobs try to beat them...

Somewhere, I remember making one. Let me get on for a bit so I can find it. Haven't checked it in ages. All I remember is that it's down by the river at the base of the hill my house is on
Hey guys I found a skeleton archer spawner. Go down into this sinkhole area and follow the torches into the abandoned mineshaft. Whenever the map updates, turn on player locations. My guy is standing maybe 15feet from it. I don't know how to do anything with it, but i know guys make things to grind for the stuff the mobs drop. I'm going to take all the mossy cobblestone in the room but that's it. You guys can do whatever you want with the mob spawner. No idea if I'm on anybody's land or not, if I am, they haven't explored the cavern one bit, as there was iron ore literally on the surface exposed to the surface.
So one of my Iron Golems (named Mandela if anyone's wondering) finally fell off my roof. ...Apparently Golems don't suffer from fall damage, as when I went down to collect its roses it was trotting off on its merry way. =)
=( It was between me and him. I was standing on the edge of a long one block thick strut, he on the other end of it walking towards me. It was like a gang plank. ...So I was like, "nope!", and eh... accidently booted him out of the way.
...Wyrmalla, overly dramatising the Dakka Minecraft Server since July/12
Minecraft hates me.
It loves my brother, though. He goes down a mineshaft for 5 minutes and comes back up with at least 3 stacks of iron and about 10 diamonds.

Definitely not contemplating suicide as he's there of his own will.
See? he ran back inside shortly afterwards.
As soon as it hit sunset he ran back to the kitchen though... I suppose he can live there in the pantry if he really wants to, strange guy. But, the problem is there's no room for him to fit in there.

Also, Dark, do items on the ground last through Server Restarts? Because, well, dropped some stuff due to death (thought that water was a lot deeper than it actually was) and the death point being really, really far from my spawn (probably should make a bed when I can...) Most of it wasn't important, but it did bring up the question to me.
I got killed by an enderman while inside my mountain, he teleported in. Someone told me they don't like water. So I insulated my mountain in water (well, it'll be insulated when I finish rebuilding it over the top). Also, its entertaining and distracting.
Just need to hook up the other end to the manor path and it'll be connected back to spawn. But, making that part is not something I'm looking forward to, quite a bit of mountains and water in the way.
To be honest, I'm actually looking forward to the water portion of mine. It's easier to make bridges than it is to make roads in minecraft-- less mobs to deal with.
Well, to celebrate the combined power of page 500 of the Minecraft thread, and my 1000th post, I present you with THIS:
In case the image there is broken, or you just want to copy/paste the URL, that's tekkit.darkinnit.com (in a Technic Launcher set to Tekkit)
Requirements You need the Technic Launcher to play. When you run it, set it to "Tekkit" (rather than "Technic") in the top left hand corner of the launcher, before logging in.
Whitelist I'm just going to have it share the Dakka whitelist. If you're whitelisted for the Dakka Minecraft server, you're whitelisted for the Tekkit server too. Nice and simple (but as this is my server, I'm not ruling out the chance that this will change).
The Dakka Minecraft Server If you don't want to install the Technic launcher, don't trust it or just have no interest, then don't worry - the regular Dakka Minecraft server is not going away, I will continue to maintain both (and I will still probably spend most of my time in the original server, once the Tekkit spawn is more complete). This Tekkit server is just an alternate for all those who want to try Tekkit.
What's the difference between Technic and Tekkit? Technic is a large collection of Single Player Mods. Tekkit is a smaller subset of those mods that are compatible with multiplayer.
Map Here's a live map of the Tekkit server:
http://www.darkinnit.com/tekkitmap/ It shows updates in real time, including player positions. I understand this is even more big brother than the current Dakka map, so if you want to hide from the map, you can type "/dynmap hide" in game (no quotes) and you will not appear on the map (type "/dynmap show" to return to the map).
Teething problems I've been testing it for a while and it seems ok, but I have little to no experience with Tekkit or Technic, so we may encounter some teething problems at first. Please let me know if anything at all is not right or not working as expected.
What about nukes/(other mass destruction device)? I'm not disabling nukes or any other component of Tekkit (to begin with). I'd like to see how things go and then only change things if they become a major problem. Nukes and other destructive things will be handled just the same as TNT on the current Dakka Minecraft server. If you set one off on your own area, or out in the middle of nowhere, fine. If you destroy someone else's property, it's a ban, from both servers. If you accidentally destroy your own stuff with a nuke or device etc, you won't get much sympathy from me
Why Tekkit and not mod/gamemode/map x? I've seen quite a few people say they've stopped playing Vanilla because of Technic, as well as several requests for a Tekkit server get passed around. I'll see how this goes. If interest dwindles, we can always try something different, but I hope to maintain this server to the same level as the Dakka Minecraft server if interest is sustained.
This is how far I've gotten so far, come show me how it's done!
Iustis and I have a small shelter set up with some furnaces, a project table, and some chests. I can expand it to fit whoever wants to build a bed there until they go find a place to build their own property.
Getting on right now, thank you Dark! you are awesome!

Final edit, cool map, Dark, I can see what everyone on the server is saying!
Iustis, I'll happily help with the road extension, as long as I'm OK to also extend it the other way through the woods, to the Beanstalk or maybe the Iron Keep (undecided as yet -- I might even just have it go underground quite soon after it gets into the eastern part of the forest).
So, nukes are turned on?
Well, at least their recipe is hidden by default... so only those who know (like myslef) can make them, not that I will.. waste of uranium
and, in the spirit of the forums, I'm using a warhammer
What's gonna be your rules on quarries? Since they can create huge (64x∞x64), unsightly pits relatively easily.
A lot of the stuff in Tekkit creates ugly things. So while I have no immediate issue with them, I'd advise people to use some common sense and don't build them on someone else's front porch. Always remember the world is massive, so if you want a pristine vista view, head out miles away (or play single player ).
Matt.Kingsley wrote:Oh, and what version of tekkit?

It's Tekkit 3.1.2 (which is Minecraft 1.2.5 underneath all the mods). I'll probably keep it up to date with whatever the latest stable version of Tekkit is.
I wasn't aware the map showed what people are saying (I hadn't tried talking to myself when testing). I'm not sure about it but I'll leave it on for now. If you want to hide from the map you can always type /dynmap hide
I'll probably be able log in to the server later this evening (BST). For now I'll just glance at the map every now and again, see who's not replanting my crops

ahh.
Mel mentioned that somebody claimed it anyway.
Also I claim -9.87, +2496 and the surrounding area.
That's a point, from now on I think people will need to specify either the Dakka server or Tekkit server when making land claims, to avoid any confusion.
