Whoooah, howya!
Where are you located yourself? I'm in Galway right now having bounced around Dublin and Cork the last few years
Living in Cork at the moment...That's where I recognised your Shrike and Raven Guard Commander and Keeper of secrets from...I've just started out here on Dakka so hopefully my own Blog will take off as soon as my camera stops acting the maggot...
Hes got that lumpy bumpy surface again - This is what I have to put up with being a collector of rogue trader! Lumpy metal. Maybe if you carefully rub liquid GS into his surface you might get smoothness. Or just go at him with the smallest dremel attachment.
CalasTyphon216 wrote: I suspect the current Tycho model might have been homage to this one, anyone else noticed the similarities?
I thought it was at first glance!..... and second glance!
He's the original Blood Angels Captain model (not Dante!), which was used in the 2nd edition battle report when Tycho first appeared. Erasmus Tycho was taken out in the game by a Weirdboy, which is why his character is as he was in the setting - and, presumably, why his sculpt does have a strong resemblance to this older model.
Some amazing stuff just arrived in the mail from Dysartes, I will get shots at work!
Christmas busyness coupled with my boss (only other worker) having an extreme chest infection has left me literally working my rear off so I have not so much as looked at a paintbrush in a week, I'm getting withdrawal shakes D: NEED TO PAINT.
Have tomorrow off so want to get the lord and Bete finished up, for serious!
Ouchies, don't get the day off tomorrow after all :(
Oh well, 2 more days of work and then at least I have a couple days after that Might try and get some painting done in the store tomorrow but I doubt it will be quiet enough!
Oh no we are painting the same mini! (the space pirate chick). My subconcious ego is demanding I try extra hard to paint it well now. Looking forward to seeing what you do with her.
Weety that would be implying I can match your 80's skillz, which I have no way to do so. It wouldn't be a competition, it would be a shame fest and I would have to leave the internet 4everz.
weetyskemian44 wrote: Oh no we are painting the same mini! (the space pirate chick). My subconcious ego is demanding I try extra hard to paint it well now. Looking forward to seeing what you do with her.
Aha! Psy-ops is it? Reading my thoughts are you? Well...
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the geisha ifalna. I bet it will look pretty cute and its a good opportunity to practice freehand flowers and bird patterns
I'm looking forward to the Hasslefree mini's myself Can't have fun with them till what I am working on right now is finished, though I am finally making nice progress Starting on some boats tonight
BOATS. Glad to hear mr Gobbo finally went home Dysartes, tiny arms intact? THAT FREAKING PINT OF BEER, URGH.
I had an awesome Holiday with just me and my boyfriend, we havn't had a simple Christmas together in 3 years, so just sitting at home and being massive nerds playing Borderlands in pajamas and MTG was perfection. Also, so much food for 2 people. 150 sausage rolls was a slight bit overboard I think.
His lewts were -
So much MTG. We've played nonstop since he opened them.
My lewts were -
Not included is the HD remake of ZOE and ZOE2 which was mashed into my ps3 at the time, but watta haul! Sonic cleaner for my airbrush, coffee grinder, some nerdy things that clearly aren't mine as we all know I'm super cool, and a FREAKING PROPER LIGHTBOX SETUP. WITH ACTUAL LAMPS. AND NOT MADE OF CARDBOARD?? WHOAH.
It is incredible and I spent yesterday playing with it. For an idea of how weird it was to work with, here is a shot of completed Bete that I thought was actually pretty nice -
Now I thought that was a nice shot till I got it off my camera and realised how wonky the colour and definition had become, as the lightbox uses extremely bright daylight lamps and I am used to shooting with mega white tungstens. I had to play around with the camera for a while to negate the yellowish tinge the light gave and reposition her so she was getting properly hit by the light bounce, which meant putting her on a stand so she was in the middle of the box, and not the bottom.
It made a crazy difference and here is a shot of her after I spent a few hours trying new things -
It's not even fully in focus but wowza, so lovely. Really smooth, no horrible light glares ( and she is mostly black so that's amazing) and the colors really pop! I will get some finished shots of her in better focus soon, but I am really happy with her and I hope her owner will be too I managed a really powerful looking scheme considering there are only really 2 colours and a hint of red, and her hair looks quite different to her dress despite it using the same shads, so it's a victory for me! I've never tried such a limited pallet before and I am super happy
Mr Khorne lord is also on his way now, just his skulls, tassles, accessories, bit of work on the weapon, and some more cloak skin highlighting to go.
The streak on his knee is annoying me and needs to be made a bit more subtle I think, but that is luckily an easy fix. I'm going to sneak a tiny bit of colour into his pouch, maybe green or purple to match his mounts little coloured areas. Can't wait to dullcoat him, made such a gorgeous difference to Bete.
I also have a few PM's to get through, but getting ready for work now so I'll try and respond later today
Looks festive. And you can never have enough sausage rolls  silly Iffy.
I'm not entirely sold on the metal at the top of the corset - paintjob looks great, don't get me wrong, just not 100% on it. The Khorne lord is looking stonking, and the final pic really shows off the colours well.
Ifalna wrote: Glad to hear mr Gobbo finally went home Dysartes, tiny arms intact? THAT FREAKING PINT OF BEER, URGH.
Surprisingly enough, Ifalna, he did make the trip under the Pennines without that arm falling off again. I got the impression that my friend was rather taken by him, which is always a good thing.
I am LOVING it so far, the fact that it is so portable and easy to put away is fantastic. I thought the lamps were going to be rather cheap battery operated ones.. my god, I was wrong.
Brilliant Present!....I just finished making my own Light Box out of a cardboard box, but buying a proper one is definitely on the cards. The new pics are looking brilliant.
Awesome haul, Ifalna! I am glad you survived the holiday madness.
Whats next on the painting list (other than boats of miniature awesome, a Khorne Lord, and a creepy Malifaux lady)?
So many cards! Got a box of R2R for christmas myself, definitely one of the best MTG sets in years. Rockin' the Golgari zombies at the moment, and I'm loving it.
Awesome painting as usual, it seems that lighting setup has only gone on to show us more of your genius. So jealous of your talent. I'd be proud if I were you.
I just meant I want to see them together! I was surprised I hadn't seen the rider when the mount was being done, and it seems like the mount's been finished for a while (and it's spectacular).
I think your light setup might still need some work though, Ifalna- the front shots make him look basically black, but then that one back shot shows a deep red. The front pics make it seem not to the level of the mount, but the back starts to show what's going on more, I think.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing that entire piece together when it is finished
I have indeed been updating Facebook and not updating here, mostly because I've been doing a lot of posting from work and it somehow feels that bit easier to do a quick update on FB than it does a forum. I hate the idea of doing quick little one sentence updates on a blog as it looks a bit spammy I think!
I've been working away and have some fun shots!
Here is an update on Mr Khorne lord with the rider and mount together -
OH BLACK BACKGROUND, I MISSED YOU SO MUCH. You can really see the red colours on the black, still irritates me how white can make my reds look so poor :S
Still learning how to set the lightbox well and there is some glare here (neither has been matt coated), but I think the shots are lovely.
Still some work to go on both but you can really see the lovely dynamic between the bright glowing mount and dark sinister rider. Need to get their bone colours matching just like the bronzes, and FIX THAT DAMN KNEE STREAK.
I've also just about nearly completed this really nice Space Wolf fig who was meant to be to character standard but I went a bit crazy with. I need to fix his hair, shine his scope, finish his spaulder, and then shoot him again once his matt coat is fully dry
Lovely isin't he? What a gorgeous model.
I have a semi naked space lady for Whalemusic who has her basic tones down, and a very hefty space wolf on his way too Fun times! Today I also did a google hangout chat with the awesome Jay Adan (a total role model) which was a huge amount of fun and we had a great time chatting about painting and an assortment of other geekery He could have waited for this till I got my hair cut and it was not a shocking mass of nonsense but noooooooo he wanted to do it now ¬_¬ Gawd.
I apparantly still have some PM's to get back to, including some important ones, so I will do my best to have them sent out by tonight! Being very busy again is making me feel great but also being a bit problematic for updates, I wish there was some way to update all my pages at the same time. That would be so awesome.

Solar_lion wrote:What an amazing interview.. it really was cool to see you talk about your work . I could listen to the irish accent all day if nothing else.
PS.. you hair is fine!
Haha, I'm watching it back myself and I get almost worryingly animated when talking about painting.. but I did not swear a single time in that video. Not even a tiny swear. This is shocking and I will need to make up for lost time.
Also note I gave Weety a huge shout out but also insulted her at the same time which I am very proud of.
Also, the fat kid in me demands to see pictures of donuts
Hehe, theres quite a selection we make -
And two of my most unhealthy creations -
A tangy orange essence icing with crumbled terrys chocolate orange, candied citrus peel and chocolate sauce :
And a horrendously rich brandy buttercream icing with brandy laced mince and a whole mini mince pie for the Christmas special. This one actually killed grown men:
They are indeed great, I can say with certainty they are the best donuts I have sampled in Ireland.
Then again we don't have a krispy kreme or any actual donut chain here so that might not be saying a lot :( The owner of the store is a pastry chef and hopes to have his own bakery up and running relatively soon so he can make super interesting filled donuts too, will be great
The stuff he does make mine look like they were made by a child.
Waaait, that's YOU GUYS WITH THE AWESOME DONUT SHOP IN THE WESHT?!
OMIGAWD. MIND BLOWN.
I will have to come visit next time I'm home, if nothing else to try the deadly donuts. I've heard tales of their wondrous properties, tales I hardly believed!
Also, that Jugger and rider are looking really well together.
Alfndrate wrote:If I could get them shipped here, I would love to
Haha I don't think they would be very fresh! Bit more brick like and less tasty pastry D:

Jay Adan! He is an incredible mini painter who owns and runs his own hobby store, his work is really excellent and you should do a google for some of his mini's I don't think he is active on Dakka but is a big presence on Tumblr

Dr H wrote:Jugger and rider are looking really good.
Other chap also looks good,
How did you do the cloak, same as you did the wolf fur before?
It was mostly just drybrushing this time, his cloak sculpt was very bad, it looks kind of just like someone stuck a toothpick over and over into the clay, not great to work with. The fur on the front was infinitely better :(

Nothing but image after image of Chris Hemsworth climbing out of swimming pools.

Actually no, I lied.
There is only one of Chris.
And Xzibit is in there for some reason I can't remember. I was honest about everything else though!
So Im guessing sometimes you just need to take a breather, and look at some incredibly sculpted fellow climbing out of a pool? Is this a trick I didnt know about? Because Ill try it

The random pic of Xzibit also made me laugh, especially the title
Aye there is some really great stuff in there from some really talented people, I love going through it and getting awesome ideas

No but in fairness, Ireland is a lovely place to visit as long as you do avoid the areas you are most likely to be stabbed and keep to the nicer cities.

oh my iff your santa picture scares me also after watching that (rather interesting) interview video thing I wanted to ask what that website you where talking about that you enter a color and it gives you complementary, and tertiary colors ect

If you find yourself highlighting and shading the donuts, you're going too far...
I actually agree that it was a bad choice of name I made on the spur of the moment by mashing two nicknames together in an unpleasing way - but its too late to change it now I guess.
I enjoyed hearing how you started painting - funnily enough thats exactly how I started - my parents bought me and my sis a box of plastic skeletons because we saw them in a shop window and gothic was the in thing at the time.

Dysartes wrote:Out of interest, Ifalna, was the video cutting out in the middle of you and Jay talking about technical problems deliberate or an accident?
Haha it's to do with how G-hangout uploads as you stream supposedly, you have to not stop it till a couple of seconds have passed or it stops the upload a bit before it has cought up, it's also why the beginning starts randomly without our hello and /wave we did.
weetyskemian44 wrote:And what was that high pitched squeaking sound? Guinea pigs?
Jay's son has a love bird, I thought it was a budgie myself. My squeeky pigs were shockingly quiet considering they were only just out of camera view.
I hadn't the occasion to watch the whole video yet since it's a bit long (I saw this this morning during breakfast and had to go ^^ ). But I have to say that your Irish accent is nice.
I'm not a native English speaker but you are really easy to understand for me, and that's really pleasant.
I like how the jugger and his rider look. The red armour looks great, the color is rich and vibrant. I love this !
I was messing around with that colour doodad and i almost gave myself a seizure spinning the wheel round with the brightest colours. My eyes are really sore.

Gosh settle down KC, I told you already I'll send you those pics of myself on MY DAYS OFF and not before!! *sheesh* some people...... pushy!
Ireland is beautiful...but I saw the west coast. I almost didn't leave, if I hadn't of already paid for my schooling which was about to start I would probably still be there today. Next time I will venture on to Dublin town.
Everyone wears PJ's like a Walmart fashion statement around here too, it's a fad I don't get.
I still need to watch the rest of the video, but seeing Jay Adan's name in your thread title caught my attention. I know Jay, I used to work with him at Cyberlore and have occasion to visit Greenfield Games once in a while. So if you want me to collect an autograph or toenail clippings or something for you just let me know. He is a great guy and a fantastic painter, his stuff looks amazing in person.
Haha, so do I small world, especially out here in Western Mass. We did a D&D night with Stokes for a while. I had no idea what was going on, but it was a great story arc. I really miss Cyberlore, I'd be working there today if I could.
If anyone is out here in WesternMass, be sure to stop by Jay's store Greenfield Games. The shops are great, and there are glass cabinets where you can see his work. If I lived a bit closer I'd be there all the time.
Jay I was just thinking about how working at Cyberlore got me to finally jump into 40k. I remember the first time I went to your shop at an auction, and you talked me out of buying a Necron Battleforce as my first army because I was going on n00b intuition (coolest looking models) I had these grand plans for an Iron Maiden themed army, too. It's very similar to the way Ifalna got started, but with robot skeletons.

Yeah, you would think I would have done more here since I signed up in 2005.
(Actually, I'm pretty sure I signed up a lot earlier than that... perhaps it was a different account or something. IDK.)
I think the reason I was looking at 40k even was that Erik (my boss at Cyberlore) talked about Dawn of War all the time. So when I wasn't playing games, I was looking it up. Accidentally came across Grandfather Nurgle and became intrigued. It wasn't long after you suggest I research armies and I came across Lost and the Damned. I asked about the army when I finally plucked up the courage to go into GW, and they advised that I switch gears to CSM...because it was easier. Anyone else remember the 3.5 codex? It wasn't easier than Lost and the Damned! I got CSM, looked up conversions...and found Orks. Orks and more Orks for years! I've finally come full circle, and have a Death Guard themed Lost and The Damned style army I'm working on now
Ifalna - we didn't have any proper paint so we did their weapons and armour with those gold and silver marker pens you can get, and some red poster paint for blood.

You should probably figure out how to send a donut back with each commission finished. Not so much that you need help with repeat business, but mostly cuz I want a donut
So maybe I missed it, but is your workplace a donut/game store combo? That is the greatest of things.
I wish the states didn't have such a stick up its bum about alcohol consumption. I could stand some combi-pubs around here. Not that I would partake that often.
Valhalla130 wrote: I wish the states didn't have such a stick up its bum about alcohol consumption. I could stand some combi-pubs around here. Not that I would partake that often.
Yes, because alcohol and power tools is such a great idea lol
I think our "stick" is the drinking age, a lot of problems occur because we don't teach kids proper respect for booze. So when they go off to college, they can't drink legally until the third or fourth year of college/uni. So for those first two years if you, as an adult, want to drink have to do it illegally. This leads to binge drinking so that you can get drunk as fast as possible and ride the buzz for as long as possible, but that's neither here nor there.
Iffy should design a donut to go with her recent paintjobs. We need a fondant Khorn Lord riding a jelly filled Khorne colored donut
Powerdrills and booze? That does sound like a worrying mix
I've not seen a diy store pub combo here yet, but I've seen a lot of themed restaurant pub combos which are great!
I finished the gorgeous lady model today but ran into something terrible, when I went to attach her arm, the entire top area crumbled into dust. Turns out there was a huge air bubble in the arm that went all the way to the elbow and the whole top section was lost.
I was really upset, I had to try and liquid GS the whole thing together to keep it solid and then place it as best I could with so much of it being made of GS, which meant GSing over final painted areas :(
It was awful but I think she has survived, there will be pics tonight as long as my cam obeys!
I work there 4 days a week and manage to fit in some painting during the quiet hours and more on the days I am not in, so it is the perfect situation for me

I saw this, and I cringed just reading! I wanted to scream, "Nooooooooooooo!", as though it would change fate, and persuade the model to de-disintegrate on your behalf. You have my deepest sympathies, Ifalna. I look forward to awesome pics of the reconstructed lady.

Gah. Thats ... Unfortunate... Who was the MFG of the lady?
She got a model with an air bubble within the arm, so there was juuuuust enough resin to make it look solid. An easy fix with green stuff, but not something you want to to AFTER you've painted the mini.
I hate having to repaint anything, but at least it happened while you can remember your color recipes!
I'm going to start planning with my dad to go for a trip back to Ireland. He was born in Belmullet, Co. Mayo and goes back every year or so. I want one of those donuts!
Huh, I've been to Belmullet.
I spent a (very cold) couple of weeks in winter on the hills out in Mayo during my stint as a researcher.
I think I may have to find Ifalna on facebook if that's where all the nice model pictures are getting posted. Normally I avoid FB like the plague but I love watching the progression on these models.
I tend to update quick status's there more often than I do here, so deffo drop by
So I have some decent shots of my poor crumbly arm lady -
She was meant to be character standard but I went a bit crazy on parts. The arm facing the camera here is all greenstuff above the elbow, liquid greenstuff at that, so there is a sligt off angle on it because I basically had to bulk up and fill the hollow with it so it would be strong enough to stay attached, but hopefully it's not that noticeable :(
I have no idea why her giant boob needed to be hanging out, there was a nipply molded on but I honestly felt it cheapened the whole thing and redid it as part of the cloth :S It's so damn out of place on such a good model.. so strange.
She is a tiiiiiny little fig, a Gaunt seriously overwhelms her in size, it was fun because she was in the cabinet next to my stripy nids and it looked like she was fending them off
Going to repaint her blonde for Whalemusic, so these are the only shots that will exist of her being a tiny Lt Ripley
Nicely painted as always and effective boob concealment
I do and I don't get (some) miniature designers' obsession with boobs. Obviously there's some appeal to the target demographic, but it rarely adds anything to a miniature and just looks daft most of the time (possible exception of Slaaneshi daemons where it's kind of in context).
The nuclear slime is most effective. Smart paintjob all round; the super-boob is a distraction and I think you avoid it bring too irritating. The mouth is great, but whilst I like the Ripley homage I think blonde will work better as she's a bit monochromatic just now IMHO. Re: repair job - nice effort, shame you couldn't reposition her gun arm under it as if supporting a dislocated shoulder. But hey, I can dream really cool fig I'm just being super picky, sorry.

While that sucks man, and I feel for ya, Ifalna says on her website:

I will wait up to 2 months after painting has finished to receive payment and will make sure to contact repeatedly and send a final invoice when approaching the end of the time period. If I am not paid by this point, the models will not be returned. Please understand that a lot of time and effort goes into painting and I do deserve to be treated with respect and paid for the work done.
(Bolded emphasis is mine)
So she does state what happens in cases of non-payment. I'm taking your story to heart man, as I'm sending Iffy some things, and I've never gotten anything commissioned ever.
Yeah I should deffo explain that nasty situation, it was stupid and should have really been avoided.
Polestar didn't have the cash available when the commission was finished and asked me to hold onto them till he did. That's no problem, that can happen to anybody for any reason, so I said sure thing and I would hold onto them.
I automatically assumed that it would be a couple of weeks tops, maybe a month or so, so had no problem holding onto them, I shouldn't have done that, I should never assume things, which is what I learned from this. I'll be emphasising the 2 month limit from now on when payments due, I should have done that in this case but I'd never had the situation pop up and it didin't occour to me it could take that long.
I had them on my shelf for 6 months and eventually came to the sad conclusion that the commission was no longer wanted, so I sent a final invoice, waited another month, and then sold them to make up for the work done. Of course, as Irish luck would have it, Polestar contacted 2 weeks later with the funds ready to go, and I was sickened with the whole bloody thing.
He did nothing wrong, but by 7 months I honestly had given up and needed to get paid :( I'm sorry again it happened Polestar, I'll be mentioning it (nicely) straight away with finished commissions from now on.
Moral of the story is : If you can't pay someone for work done but are serious about getting it back, stay in touch so they don't think you don't care anymore when you may really do, and if you have a policy, don't try and be nice about it, just come out and say it so you can prevent silly situations where everyone loses :(
Call me a heartless, cynical capitalist if you like, but if you can't afford to pay for a service, why are you commissioning for one in the first place?
I get it, money problems happen to people, but I can't think of an actual company whose credit control department would be as patient to wait over 6 months for payment, so Ifalna has been more than generous in my opinion.
I would ask not to turn this into a hes wrong shes wrong thing, I don't see Polestar as having done anything wrong, just the situation as being something stupid we both could have avoided.

In any financial contract you are bound by the terms/contract/agreement… This should be viewed as " lesson learned and heads up “
Thou I have sympathy for you I think it's a little disingenuous to make the assumption that somehow Iffy has failed you! The responsibility and obligation was yours. Yours to pay and yours to communicate. She fulfilled her obligation and was generous enough to give you more time. I’m not seeing her actions regardless of the outcome as a failure on her part.
In this matter; the truth is you’re not her friend but her customer. I too have commissions with Iffy and expect her to fulfill her obligations as well as she should expect mine ( payment ) regardless of any perceived friendship or civility. Any other personal involvement ( banter – conversations ect ) is a pleasure ( and should not be assumed ) but does not IMO change our financial agreement.
Ifalna... I apologize if this is out of line and not my place.. I will comment no more on this out of respect for both parties.
In regards to the model above I feel that a fiery red-head would do wonders. Not a blonde haha. But I do agree with inmygravenimage that the black hair is lost on the model somehow. Regardless, I like the model and I think you did a wonderful job rebuilding the model after a disintegration. If it had happened with me she would have been bound for the garbage as I have no ability whatsoever in reconstructive surgery.
I'm not a fan of that mini (weird pose) but I love the paint job. The blood makes me uncomfortable because combined with the torn clothing she looks like a victim of domestic violence.
I honestly get where you are coming from, it can hit a bit close to home.
I mentioned I was thinking of adding some green ooze to her knife just to add a bit more to the story the mini is attempting to tell, what do you think WM?

Sadly no. Youre not a Dwarf female being Santa, and Im really not an Ork. Scary I know. Blasted Matrix always screwing things up and not carrying the 1 and all that
So she'll be a strawberry blonde with green ichor on her blade? That should actually make for two very eye catching points on her. I can't wait to see it now haha.

Oh no.. things are so much sadder now. I need time to digest this info.

Yeah I think it really will make an interesting little focal point

Hello Sarah, I have been trying to get a hold of you in regards to some commission work. Please let me know what upcoming spots you have--I have some Rackham Confrontation pieces I would like painted. The best way to contact me is via email: mdonova6@gmail.com.
Hi Iffy, I wanted to know what the quality brush you mentioned using was, I've tried looking back but it's a big thread! The reason I ask is a friend of mine wants to improve his painting and one of my top tips was a better quality brush but I use the citadel masters set which isn't available any more. Hope you can help.
She uses the W&N series 7. Which is an excellent brush although expensive. A cheaper and similar quality is the rosemary & co brushes notably their series 33 and 22
That is an interesting point on the mega boob. From a composition standpoint I was thinking it makes sense for her to be hanging out on one side, contrasting her tough, armored soldier look on one side with the exposed, vulnerable look on the other. I think theoretically that could really work.
Then you see that boob and part of your brain thinks "Well, she isn't in too much danger there; that's what, 80% silicon anyway? She'll be fine."
Definitely a misstep there. We already know she is female without a doubt, no reason to over do it. A more scale bit of anatomy would probably have done the job much better.
Yes I have had an insane last week and a bit, between Akumakon, painting lessons on my weekend, and the absolutely crazy Magic Pre-Release weekend for magic the gathering, I've had no spare time. I'm coming home from work and just falling asleep after dinner, it's quite pathetic.
Also managed to pull something in my back this week at work and can't sit properly till it gets better ( hence no updates :( ) but it's far better than it was earlier and I am going to spend my day off today properly having a day off, laying on the sofa and letting it stretch out. First real day off in far too long.
I have completed models to shoot and some fun random things too, I just need to shoot them and getting into position with my camera is killing my back. I think I've entered old age. Ughhh.
The next few weeks have 0 crazy things happening at work so they will be far more relaxed and I will have more time to internet and say hello \o/
It's getting better, I'm just standing at work and not tempting fate by sitting. Plan to be painting again on Sunday at this point. Finally mailed out some finished figs as making people wait longer so I could get shots was getting ridiculous, so that feels better
I didin't go Simic, I went Gruul, and it was awful. Not impressed with card synergy in the prerelease box anyway, Boros was the clear winner and absolutely DESTROYED competition on both days, with the best Boros players making the top 5 each time. It was actually ridiculous. Dimir came in last, poor Dimir.

Good to see your return, Ifalna. (Did I get it right this time? lol)
Hope your back is in tip-top shape before too long. I've thrown my out coughing and don't stand a chance of it getting better until this coughing ends.

Great to have you back
When you get the chance can you answer the below? I am really just very curious about it!

I'm glad to see my intuition is still there. Boros looked to be extrememly powerful!
Very soon I will be neck deep in MTG once again! What have I done >.<
The best thing for your back is to stretch every day. If it's loose and it can move it will figure itself out
One thing that helped my back a lot was stretching my hamstrings. Sitting for 8-10 hours at work, then 3-6 more at home got them super tight, and they were yanking my back out of alignment and cutting off circulation to my feet. The latter thing is actually what got the Dr.s thinking it was my leg and not my back after a year of scans and tests.
So yea, might not be your problem, but lots of life's issues can be solved by putting your feet behind your head, so it is worth trying.

*snigger*
Ifanaan has been spotted posting Dreadfleet ships on Facebook again, but doesn't seem to have made it back here just yet - maybe soon...
Wehrkind wrote: So yea, might not be your problem, but lots of life's issues can be solved by putting your feet behind your head, so it is worth trying.
I'm sure that would cause more issues than it solved if I tried that
I hope those ships sail via dakka, its seems like ages ago since the last Iffy fix
I'm sure when they are done they will make it here, as it is the client's primary stomping ground. The mini updates come via Facebook, due mostly to ease of pic upload I suspect.

Facebook is indeed a bit easier as I can upload and post so quickly from work, but I will be back on Dakka quite a lot more now that the crazy busy period is over and I have a bit more " Standing still" time!
Here are lots of images for the stuff I have been painting recently than I actually have shots of! (curse that sore back)
This is a group shot of all the water bases and small treasure piles I have finished up. Notice how incredible huge those treasure piles are! How can the boats carry them? Are those goblets the size of buildings? How does this work! I am full of so many questions. It is incredible.
They are a bit less colourful than they show here, the new lightbox really emphasises colours that arent as noticeable in the hand, but they turned out lovely and quite dynamic.
Here is an elf for size comparison, these are tiiiiiny. They look so big when there is nothing next to them to show the actual scale.
Here are the little treasure piles a bit closer, they are quite colourful but I might give a final extreme edge highlight in places. They are so small I don't want to go too crazy with them or they could be ruined, it's hard to decide!
This is my favourite, a floating pile of rotten guts! It was based in bleach bone and coloured entirely with varied washes and varnish, I think it turned out really vile and am happy with it fer sure Need to go over the dangly guts out the back though.. yuck!
A closer shot of some of the other bases, very happy with the rising swell on them though the green is not as noticeable in the hand.
Now here are some much lower quality but still fun little trophies I painted up for our stores Bloodbowl league!
This is da golden mummy, he sticks on top of the main trophy for the final winner. Just to give the trophy some extra golden class. Yeah man.
These are tiny cute BB trophies that stick on small plaques. One has already been collected buy I got shots of these others They were pointy and I hated them. They hurt my hands. I hate their evil little faces, I hope they appreciate all I did for them.
And a bonus shot of some friends I sneakily took a photo of while editing the others. They all look extremely angry despite not being at all, so I'm happy with it.
I'm going to take more shots of fun stuff tomorrow, and get the smaller boats finished
Nice to see an update, Ifanaan - I understand from watching Jay's videos that you won't be able to see most of those guts once the upper part of the creature is attached, so I'm a little surprised to see so much work put into them.
Nice to see the Spike! Magazine trophy getting some attention, though.
Also, if you're getting fun pics - we can haz donuts?
I've got as many comments on the water bases as the boats for the three I have. They are mind numbingly amazing. Can't wait (but I have to) for them to be finished up. Those lil boats go with the Heldenhammer, I do believe (ill verify in the book), just as a reminder. Makes me quite happy to know I have one of the nicest copies of dreadfleet, bar none.
I think the treasure is good, I wouldn't go to nuts on those. If you think they are out of scale, wait till you see the compass.

Yeah the guts will be mostly covered, but I still wanted to get them looking nice and gross to not cut corners That and they were really really fun!
I may well be shooting donuttys today, I'll know when I get to work

Holy crap I am so happy you like the water, it seems to be something a lot of Dreadfleet sets don't seem to be getting done with the same amount of effort as the ships, and it is such a shame as it can let them down a bit I think. With the ships on these they will look freaking lovely, I'm going to do the wee Heldenhammer ones today as they are so small and cute and I can get them finished nicely in a relatively short amount of time
Is the compass the size of Ireland in comparison? Hahah.
Wehrkind wrote:That really is some fantastic looking water. Very impressive.
Thanks man, it is splish splashy!
I had a comment on Facebook earlier that someone had thought I had abandoned this blog, and I just wanted to say NO.
This is a painting blog based on photos. If I don't have photos, I don't feel right spamming it with text. Chatting with me and having fun is what Facebook is for, and Tumblr is image based also so I don't tend to update it without having shots or I just spam a couple of hundred people with crap they are likely not interested in :( Painting blogs that are mostly chat aren't really painting blogs, they are just chat rooms with the odd picture to me, and I am very (maybe overly?) serious about not mucking up a blog or page people are following me on.
Hopefully I'm making a bit of sense here, it's hard to explain well.
Yea, we all seem to like random gibberish, well enough to produce a lot ourselves at least. Hell, I still don't know how to parse the "Stop" image with Jack Black, but I still giggled a bit.
I think it is fair to say your personality drives a lot of your popularity here.

I'm going to guess that the suggestion that Ifanaan solve problems by putting her feet behind her head was a touch euphemistic, and didn't want anyone taking that idea any further - Jack was meant to run interference in case people did head that way regardless...

Awww, is now a good time to admit my personality is all a farce and I'm just a pretty simple script written by a very bored customer support employee? Eh?

Little boats are just about done, I've "had" to learn Blood bowl at work in spare time so I can take part in some upcoming events, it is hilarious and I am loving it

Just remember - in the right situation, even Dwarfs can score a one turn touchdown.
I should know, I've done it - against Skaven...
And Dwarfs are never just defensive - we're highly offensive, as well
Blood Bowl is the best rules set GW has ever produced. Plus you only need around twenty models maximum and can just about convert them into whatever whacky things you wanna.
The rules are pretty complicated but very fun, I love the hilarious random factor in how you can quickly go from thinking you have the advantage to having all your team facedown in the mud.
Freaking excellent
I had to leave my photobooth at work as I couldnt carry it and everything else I had with me home, but I am back in work tomorrow for a late magic night and will have the boats up as pics then!
They are freaking tiny. I painted on little planks and everything and now realise how impossible it is to even see!
Are we talking about Table top blood bowl or computer blood bowl here?
I've never played table top bb (although it does look fun) but the computer bb was freaking impossible. I just couldnt make them doing anything properly. In the end i gave up and went back to CounterStrike.
Ridiculously tiny dreadfleet ships now finished bar their teeny flags and masts, these things are on bases smaller than elf infantry bases for warhammer fantasy, this is nonsense. NONSENSE.
Also the 50% complete rotten fishy ship which is about as long as a thumb. He was drybrushed bleached bone from a deep khaki green, and then had all his colours applied with glazes and washes bar some electric green streaks. I wanted to keep him colourful and very slightly bio luminescent but still look rotten, so when I do his detail work tomorrow that’s what I will be aiming for
These are just teaser shots without the lightbox as they are technically WIP
I hope to have updates on the jugger rider anddddddddddd something very interesting and new soon, I'm just working a lot slower than I used to as I am limited in how much time I can use painting per day! Need to try and find ways to speed up how I paint.. hmmm.
