I would be happy if CB moved to resin casting but the metal is ok. Except for the tiny arms that don't attach to anything else but the shoulder. I've glued Saladin back together about a million times.
Didn't one of the principle sculptors say that something like 60% of the range wouldn't be possible in plastic? That would make resin far more plausible if they did ever change material.
CB have also gone on record as saying they want to keep production in Spain, partly a principled thing considering the difficulties the Spanish economy is going through.
Absolutionis wrote: Every biker in Infinity is impetuous. Even Penthesilea. The only variations seem to be whether they're irregular or not.
I guess it's in keeping with a bike that it's always moving. Rather than imagining the person on the bike inching along, moving it forward with their toes on the ground
Thought I would start playing Infinity and just stick to one army, wouldn't have as many armies as I have for other systems but now...CB just sucked me in deeper...
as for cost, I am okay with the cost. Contents are very good quality metal sculpts, comes with rules, dice, templates, markers, and 3-d scenery that actually looks decent as opposed to some other things I have seen in other boxed sets....I think its worth the cost. Even when I used to buy GW metal minis, years ago, it was 8-12 dollars for 1-2 models. This would be the price of GW metal 2004 and before. 10 models of that would be 80-120 dollars, and honestly looking at some of the old metal models these are better sculpts. Regardless of gw versus whatever, these are very nice models and the models + contents is very well priced, I would actually consider it a bargain.
A scenery set is ~12.50
Each starter pack is ~45-50
I would guess a devildog/antipode box would be ~25-30
Bike box- 40
Templates/markers-?
Rulebook-?
The minis alone would probably cost more than the box, so everything else is essentially free with the minis being 10% off for getting them bundled. Obviously a good deal, also all the models look ace.
This is not the place to be bickering/complaining/whining/concerned about the price of CBs products. Also this is MOST DEFINITELY not (or anywhere on Dakka for that matter) the place to start insulting/name calling.
One can take the pricing concerns down to the proper Infinity Forums, the name calling would be best stopped.
Yes please!
I guess I wasn't clear enough?
TAKE THIS KIND OF STUFF DOWN TO THE INFINITY SUB-FORUMS - AND DO NOT KEEP BRINGING IT UP IN THE NEWS AND RUMORS THREAD.

I was kinda glad to see our ragestorm over here hasn't reached all the way across the pond. It's in keeping with the Desperadoes' badass redneck 'Murica! persona... I'm certain that when we send our first hillbilly roughneck colonists to the stars they'll bring the stars 'n bars along with cheap beer, rusted pickups, and unkempt grizzly beards.
BobbaFett wrote: I must admit that GW plastic has super fine quality. But many other plastic/resin products that I've seen (Zombiecide, Warmachine, Mantic...) had been very dissapointing.
I do not want even to consider of CB switching to plastics, loosing their 10/10 quality. They have the best Metal product in the industry. Let the others ruin their stuff by tring to go plastic achieving 6/10 results. If someone is not going to get into Infinity because metal, that's fine.
I'm sure that if CB tries to go plastic they will have to go through a process that can damage the quality of their products. Rackham style.
Infinity is not made for becoming mainstream. This is "gourmet" stuff, really, not Pepsi.
Have you seen the Kingdom Death plastics? They could definitely capture the proportions and style of Infinity in plastic.
Heck, they even have cheesecake poses and cleavage. I'm not a fan of the 70's porn meets 80's horror movie designs of the minis but the quality and detail are unmistakeably there.
but the KD stuff does retail at $100 for 8 of those hard plastic minis so if you added the cost of paper terrain, mat and rules you'd be looking at something around $160+ is for a comparable starter box, and much, much longer lead times
Minis of the same quality as the metal ones are possible in plastic.
BUT:
There are so many undercuts that the forms would need to be made of at least 6-8 parts instead of the usual 2 and the models would need to be put together in many layers.
It is possible, but it would really cost a lot, at least 5 times the current price. So we better should forget about it.

You have more forums to patrol, I am just interested in Infinity these days so I practically live in the 3 forums and this 1 thread dedicated to it
Expand your horizons Brother NM, start visiting the Painting and Modelling forums. Of course, we rarely see Mods down there, even unofficial ones. We're such rule-igans, the Mods get bored because they have nothing to moderate and end up spending all their time elsewhere in the super-exciting threads about Gold Plated Fantasy Space Marines.
Are there any still shots of the Desperadoes etc? Looks Like CB intends to have a near complete line of minis for USAriadna released by Christmas. Is the US market that important to them? (I'd guess D'uh yes.)
Carlos mentioned having release all through the end of the year, and into 2016.
So I would think they have a strong line of releases until Christmas, then a regular pattern into 2016 to maybe fill gaps in the line.
First up after the Army box is the Grunts SWC box Yes please!
After watching the video, I'm quite certain that Infinity monthly releases will be getting a portion of my money for the duration of the USAriadna launch.
I'm not a huge fan of the Desperado concept colors - a bit too much Ol' Western - but simply painting the poncho differently should alleviate that.

Ditto. It's a bit heavy handed, but most of it can be avoided on the painting table.
Liking this release more and more. Everything being in the same scale is a big motivator!

Hopefully the size fluctuations will finally be gone for good with the 3D sculpted minis.
So many units still need to be brought up to today's standards

That's what I'm assuming. So I'm happily buying new Morats, PanO and Corrigador; but having a bit of a sulk about my Haqq, QK, and Bakunin.

Yeah my old Yu Jing are just sad to look at compared to the new Sun Tze and Invincible with HMG.
I do like that motorbike concept, recognisable for what it is with just the right amount of 'sci-fi' (carried over from the other design) with the brake disks and thin spokes on the wheels, and what looks like design finally moving on from chains..
Going by the design, it looks like electric motors powered by an IC engine. A slightly different design from the others - they look like they could be 2-wheel drive - but still the same technology.
Looks like the electric drive could be a recent-ish import retrofitted to an older design, or that technology could have been with the original colonists, depending on how primitive you like your Ariadna.
I think I will be using my older scaled Haqqislam stuff to make stand-in's for these miniatures, and bite the bullet and buy newer style sculpts for Haqqislam so they all fit the same size. But I have to say I do like the concept art. I hope they do variations in poses for them though, I don't want them all looking too similar.
Yep, I like that much more. Is it just me, or does it look like this Desperado is wearing almost the exact same gear as the cowboy Hardcase? I wonder if he'll be a resculpt of the Hardcase?
You're absolutely right and it does look that way. Hrmmm...
Any guesses as to how the Blackjack Heavy Rangers will turn out, or what they're going to go for the Unknown Ranger? I am thinking Rambo, but that's just me spitballing.
It will also include Paradiso unit rules and so on, but not campaign stuff (which he said would be redone at another time as the missions and ideas are dated compared to N3). 2 Books same as N3 rules.
Everything from Tohaa, even newer stuff that is not in any book currently, will be in this. Will be a pdf of the rules as usual as well.
Also goes on to talk about the AF book, 16 new sectorials and even a new race.
Carlos will be doing a seminar at gencon discussing whats coming post human sphere.
Infinity has currently eight general armies, sixteen new sectorials frankly doesn't strike me that odd. Though I haven't seen the video, ergo my first question would be, if this means Mercenaries and 0-12 are finally getting their profiles. Unpleasant implications what would that mean for new releases.
I'm more interested in the profile updates. If that means my Acontecimento will stop collecting dust and Bolts have a role that doesn't require your lieutenant getting himself killed, I'd be a very happy man.

Interesting. I love how some of the designs are actually referenced to some of the things coming out of R&D these days. Like you say the two-wheel drive being a fairly recent production development (I know a Yamaha raced in the Paris-Darak with it recently, apparently really great traction), as well as the Penithesilea/Yojimbo machine that has the swing-arm as a stressed member of the chassis, and connected directly to the engine block. Again something Ducati had been experimenting with on proto-type machines. Even the fact that Penithesilea herself just has the one finger hovering over the front brake, obviously some mega braking assist on that bike!
Miniaturemarket now doing extra 15% off of all infinity with the coupon code infinity15
Doesn't pay off if you're back on this side of the pond with the current USD-EUR rate but for you US blokes that's gotta be tasty.
(it is 15% off of the discounted price, so for most products which are already 20% discounted it's a total 32% discount, not 35%. Still awesome though!).

The Aragoto bike is much the same. I assume that ALEPH buy their bikes from a Japanese manufacturer (who probably builds Probots, too). I don't know if Yojimbo also bought his from them, or if he's nicked one when Pentesilea wasn't looking.
As for the similarities between the Desperado and the Hardcase, look again at the concetpt art - all the USARiadna troops shown there are based off the same basic "dolly".
So with this 15% off sale on Miniature Market, I thought it might be a good time to dip a toe into Infinity. Is the Icestorm box still the best starting place? I don't care a whole lot about the scenery, because I over-invested in Mantic's Battlezones (honestly, looking for another reason to use them), but if the Icestorm box is still a good deal for the miniatures, I'll probably pick it up.
I ask because I've been reading up on Infinity here and elsewhere and there is a lot of talk about the new miniatures being a big improvement on the older ones; I'm just unclear how I tell what the new stuff is. Any tips? I'd like to pick up a mech or two as well, if there are stand-outs that people recommend.
the LE Van Zant is a preorder/gencon special, is that model included in all pre-orders if I were to get it through The Warstore or Miniature Market, or only if I preoder directly through CB? And is it only if I preorder during Gencon?

The Iguana or Jotum were suggested when it first came out. Nomads don't have as many in the giant robots department. PanO however has the most of any faction.
For war games veterans it's not a bad idea to peruse as much of the profiles, rules, and fluff that you can get online. While a big TAG quickly fills out your list, you'll need specialists and support units to supplement what's in the starter. Each faction has a unique approach to delivering that aspect.

The LE Van Zant only comes on his own or in the bundled rulebook/Icestorm/USAriadna sets. All of them will only be available until August 2nd

Van Zant doesn't come in the USAriadna box at all. You have to order him on his own from the CB store between now and GenCon (or in one of the bundles with the rulebook, Operation Icestorm and USAriadna in various combinations).

Yeah again, they've laid all out in the videos and on their website.
1: The USAriadna box comes with the female Maverick. That will be exclusive to this box. (The Rev. Healers & Father Knight were like that in Icestorm.) Even if you buy it a year from now, that lady Maverick can only be had in the USAriadna Army box.
The army box otherwise contains the USAriadna starter & Devils Dogs. They will be released later as 2 separate items if you want them on their own. (Just like the Nomad and PanO starters from Icestorm came out later)
2: If you preorder the USAriadna box before August 2nd, you will get the dismounted Maverick. (For Icestorm you got the CSU lady for preordering.)
3: Van Zant is a GenCon exclusive. You can only get him there, or on the CB website. (They did the same with the exclusive Tabby Lyons Bolt last year.)
CB is selling bundles that include Van Zant on their site as well . So far they are exclusive to the CB website.
3 choices:
[ N3 books + Icestorm ] 150euro
[ N3 books + USAriadna box ] 150 euro
[ Icestorm + USAriadna Box ] 175euro
They're all there http://store.infinitythegame.com/index.php?lang=en
It's all been very clear what the deals are. It was just as clear when they promoted Icestorm last year.
3: Van Zant is a GenCon exclusive. You can only get him there, or on the CB website. (They did the same with the exclusive Tabby Lyons Bolt last year.)
And unlike Tabby Lyons Bolt you will not be able to get Van Zant on her webstore like you can her Bolt with Drop Bear.
Considering Van Zant isn't bound to an exclusivity deal, maybe he may be akin to bootleg Penthesilea and be released later down the line.
The current Van Zant model is looking dated anyways. Similar to Joan d'Arc, they probably have plans to release an alternate pose somewhere down the line.

No they said he's not available after. But there is a standard one coming, I posted a blurry photo of it earlier in the thread.

They already said there's going to be a 2nd sculpt that looks like the art where he's carrying his pimp-stick.
Also I think this is a picture of the non limited Van Zant

Indeed. Battleaxe FTW. Oddly it, a medieval weapon n a sci fi game, doesn't bother the way the archer does.
That is a large number of sectorials, but It will be the overall number of new units that maybe the problem. If every sectorial has to be ints own special snowflake and have (multiple) unique LI, MI and HI units, that may well be a nasty barrier to new players-- too much to digest.
The "man with no name" desperado I like-- but then, I would. Not sure about the "easy rider" desperado. So, the female maverick will be exclusive to the army pack, (and the dismounted one exclusive to the pre-ordered army pack)* and there will be the male maverick (box of 2?) for regular release? Hmmm.
The pre-order LE mini for HSN3? Guesses? I suspect Sybilla.

Good God yes! Shang Ji, Hsien, Zhanshi, Kuang Shi, Ninjas, Guija, Guilang, Daofei, Domaru, Kempeitai, and Celestial Guard (I wish) all need to be brought into the modern aesthetic and size. That and there's profiles we could still use new models for, like the Hac Tao.
HS better give Yu Jing some lovin' they are behind the times. In many ways.
I'd really like to see CB make an effort to redo ALL the basic remotes in one foul swoop. They're all very dated and boring by today's standards.
Do we have any status update on the Infinity Wiki?
http://infinitythegame.wikispot.org/visitnewwiki?action=show&redirect=Home It's been in the works since N3 came out. It would be really nice if they had been using this entire year of retooling to get it ready for the release of HS. The wiki was a huge tool for me to learn the game on the fly in 2nd edition. Even though the new book is better organized, I would appreciate having the wiki as another tool for quick reference.
I wish BoW had addressed this in their last video. It wasn't a very comprehensive Q&A session :-/

They were in the same spot as PanOceania. Locally they performed about the same, neither have I've ever seen an argument that would convince me they'd be in some dire need of updates. I haven't seen results on international level to see any major deviance from what I'd expect. Most of the complaints, with which I could sympathise, came down to mechanics and feel of the faction. With changes to dynamics such as MA, CC with some updated profiles they've addressed it. They probably are never going to satisfy Ninja complaints, which I approve and frankly find no reason to indulge them, Oniwaban is quite the profile if you need a "superior" Ninja. I have suspicion that Invincible sectorial will be somewhat lacking of MA skills, which will be humorous when facing Military Orders and wonder what the public reaction is going to be in that case.
In terms of models, I can't sympathise. Although I do find most of new Yu Jing line to be great and I've been told by few others that they're not going to buy until their profiles are getting updates. I can see their point, however I find most of the older range to be rather up to my taste. The scale difference is what put off others not the any possible changes in the aesthetics.
I'm not great at math...but I'm not sure that $80....
Still a great deal...but jussayin
Depends, some local retailers in the UK worked out the retail price CB had set on their site, converted € to £ and came up with £63 - the financial crisis in Greece has had an effect of lowering the euro against the pound = win. Those retailers knocked 20% off and got it to £53 (inc shipping) or $81. The retail price in the UK is £69.99, so they've kept a price promise!

Since there are currently 8 playable factions, 16 new sectorials doesn't actually sound as daunting when you break it down. Most every existing faction would be entitled to 2 sectorials, and Tohaa should get one. We have a pretty good idea about who most of the sectorials will compose based on fluff and other info that has previously been revealed/hinted at. While I'm sure we won't know for sure until closer AF's release date, I think we can safely speculate at:
PanO - Varuna, Svarheim
Yu Jing - Invincible, Svarheim
Ariadna - USAriadna, Kazaks
Haqqislam - 2 Sectorials
Nomads - Tunguska, Black Labs
Combined Army - Sygmaa, EI
Aleph - Vedic? + 1 Sectorial
Tohaa - Tohaa Trident
Mercs - (New Faction, No Sectorial)
Maybe some of you guys can help fill in a few blanks.
Well USAriadna is in HSN3 so I dunno if they'll get another new one as their second in AF. The two Haqqislam ones are the Caliphate and Khanate. I know Black Hand was thrown around as the 4th Nomad one.
I was all set to preorder the USAriadna box today but I don't know if I will actually. If I don't the only thing I won't be able to get later is the Maverick and the terrain and that right?

Nomads - it's Black Hand, not Black Labs. Last we heard, CB were having problems filling out the sectorial and were considering rolling them into Tunguska like they rolled the Observance into Bakunin.
Aleph - we don't know. Last we heard the OSS (Vedic) was on the backburner as they were having trouble with it and they would continue to add to the ASS.
Mercs - Other way. No generic faction, only sectorials. White Stars is one (Druze, Valerya, Scarface so far confirmed), possibly Behyan Resources (who own the Kaplan teams) as another

The USARF box will stay in production for a little while, so you can pick it up after the pre-order when it is released for retail Mid-august. It will still have everything listed in it, including the "box exclusive" female Maverick. Just no dismount version of her.

There's not even a guarantee you will be unable to get the "dismounted Maverick" because of the kinda messy way that CB does preorders(it's how The Warstore had dozens of the various preorder miniatures to sell on eBay/Black Friday/whenever over the years).
Yeah I think I'll pass for now at least. I was looking at the models on Studio Giraldez's Facebook and seeing all the previous few months releases made me realise there's other models I want a lot more.

Nice catch. I also forgot that one of the AF factions for Combined Army will most likely be Shasvasti. We could see either EI or Sigma filling in with the Human Sphere release.
huh? I distinctly remember Shas being a sectorial already. Granted, you might be forgiven for never noticing in ITS/specialist-centered competitive environments

There were rumours that they weren't going to be in HSN3 and instead in Acheron Falls.

Yes, remember they have said some established sectorials may be going offline to retool them. USAriadna will be official in the N3:HS rules so I would imagine one of the existing Ariadna sectorials may not be in it?
Killian totally forgot that his Grenzer sniper could see the APHMG Minuteman link team!
Carlos is using traktor muls but their shots got hacked by 2 Nomad Interventors.
I thought you could not hack shots from traktor muls?
The rules as they exist now are spread over 3 PDFs. I know I'm confused. This is exactly why they need to clear this all up with a fancy new HS book!
Maybe.... just maybe we'll see the triumphant return of the Exrah to the Combined Army? The Exrah company that was working with them did get replaced, so they do still exist in the fluff. I'd love to see them get a fancy N3 redesign and full Sectorial.
I have to say I'm always supremely disappointed with Iguana TAGs in battle reports. They NEVER live past turn 1. So often I've seen them lit up like a Christmas tree and usually the pilot dies before he hits the ground. I wish they were just a LITTLE tougher because it's such an awesome model.
Hopefully they redo the Szalamandra soon because that could be an amazing resculpt. The current one is still one of my favorites, but it's too damned small for such a powerful TAG.
ski2060 wrote: Traktor Muls just use the rules for Guided now. Guided shots can be hacked with U-Turn now :(
I believe those Minutemen were out of LOS due to the smoke that Carlos launched with his Maverick up to the top of that building.
Where does it mention this for the Traktor Muls? Is it buried in some FAQ PDF? Or maybe on some official rules forum?
This is exactly why AF has to be delayed at least until we have the HS rules updated for N3!
Ah yes the smoke, you are correct. They kept moving the template so I forgot when I went to rewind to that point.

It's in the HS + CP Weapons Chart update PDF. It's not so much that it says they can be hacked, it's that the new profiles say they use Guided and don't say they can't be hacked any more.
Barzam wrote: All I care is that we might get that Varuna Sectorial and an official Mercenary faction (or two). It's the mercs I want most of all.
In case you haven't seen it. This is text that was missing from the English language N3 book, "Players can only add Mercenary Troops to their Army List by mutual accord, or if such troops are available for their faction, or their Sectorial Army (see Infinity. Human Sphere)." IIRC, The White Stars will be one of the mercenary factions, and Varuna will definitely be a Pan-O sectorial, along with Svalarheim.
The proposed new sectorials that I've heard of, FYI:
Varuna (Pan-O)
Svalarheim (Pan-O)
Svalarheim (Yu Jing)
[Cannot recall name] (Yu Jing)
Caliphate/Al Medinat (Haqq)
Khanate (Haqq)
Tunguska (Nomads)
Vedic (ALEPH)
Black Hand (Nomads)
USAriadna (Ariadna)
Kazaks[name?] (Ariadna)
EI sectorial (CA)
White Stars (Mercenary)
[name unknown to me] (Mercenary)
That leaves 3 unknown to me. Is there to be a Sygmaa (CA) sectorial? A third ALEPH sectorial? the O-12 faction? This would add to 16. Feel free to add corrections.
Anyway, you could always hack guided missiles, you just could not hack the traktorMul itself.
Bolognesus wrote: huh? I distinctly remember Shas being a sectorial already. Granted, you might be forgiven for never noticing in ITS/specialist-centered competitive environments
There were rumours that they weren't going to be in HSN3 and instead in Acheron Falls.
..Ah, thanks, and sorry for the wisecrack then That would be disappointing.
It's an image from the BoWN3HS video. It's just a mockup they used to visualize the concept of the new HS book replacing old HS and C.
It's also been confirmed that the new book will be two books in a slipcase (fluff+rules) just like N3. Also, there is a strong possibility that the books will be white, but not certain yet.
Everything else is just a mockup for the sake of visualization.
Oh hey thanks. I thought these guys were not going to update their app for N3. Their army builder was one of my favorites for 2nd edition.
I know the feeling. This was said to be a temporary thing until they come up with a more polished version but I haven't heard much of that anymore and you know how it can go with these fanmade things. This version works AOK though.
Well, until CB says otherwise, I think the Exrah Commisariat has a possibility of being a new CA sectorial. Hopefully with some bug men that look more like something out of Dunbine rather than the vaguely retro bug-eyed monster look the Concordat had.
No, they said the existing range was dead. They also said that those guys belonged to the Exrah Concordat, who were wiped out for selling gear to the humans. The Exrah Commisariat was then contracted by the EI to fill the same role.
Some people are speculating that full on rules for boarding actions will be introduced in AF. The Commisariat are supposed to be supplying not just ships, but shipboard security as well. I could see them introducing them as a small sectorial.
USA had stronger list in that report. I do think coordinated order requires regular and command order to be used, Interventions can use impersonation through their hacking device. They are considered the best human hackers for a reason.
Rather disappointing report, mostly because composition match up. Sin eater, Moira HMG, REM, Chimera instead of a TAG would make interesting game. Carlo's smack talk was extremely annoying.

They're clearly pushing the Icestorm contents along with the recommended Nomad Iguana and Interventors. Not the best possible list, just stuff the BoW viewers are most likely familiar with.
First section of the BoW weekender this week is carlos talking about Gencon and things. RPG will be up for preorder in August, includes core book and first campaign based in Paradiso.
Bigger venue for the seminars and Angel's masterclasses so more space.
Angel is putting out a second book, sold 50,000 of the first one, best selling mini painting book there is by a huge margin.
2nd book will have more pages, more text to explain and better graphics Will feature weathering sections and airbrush and brush specific tutorials.
Won't be out till November 2016. No limited edition this time, reprinted as much as is needed.
Pre orders are likely to have a mini to go with them, but it's not decided yet.
Fluffwise the Exrah still exist as supporting faction, but gamewise they are gone and dead. They did not work out and there will be no resources spend on them.
The Combined Army has two plausible reasonable sectorials lined up for it: The El sectorial, and the occupied Tohaa territories sectorial.
The Exrah coming back would require overcoming the problems that got them removed:
* Inconsistent designs between unpopular models.
* Problematic profiles.
* Problematic rules interactions (A TAG with Airborne Deployment that puts down an AOE when it lands, in an edition where AOE's generate AROs. How's that supposed to work? )
Hoping for the Exrah to come back is like hoping for Firefly to come back. You can't fault someone for hoping, but it ain't likely.

They aren't really issues now though are they because they could just start again. New models means there's no inconsistent designs and there'd be all new profiles. I agree we probably won't see them but those are very much non issues if they brought them back because they'd have a clean slate.

USA's composition meshes better, if you're reaching for newer or simply casual audience it should be a rather secondary worry that they would feel unfamiliar. Most likely they're going to have a lot more on their platter, besides the finer questions of compositions and game development. Honestly, my suspicion is more tied to the available collection of Nomad and PanO that were available in the BoW studio. If I embrace the idea that CB wanted to focus on presenting the USA and its game dynamic and design, it also becomes more understandable as to why forces were as they were. I would love to have every sectorial to have its BoW week, if that should be the case.
I was watching this earlier, and around the 20 minute mark they start talking about Angel's book (and Volume 2 which is coming out later this year). If I'm not mistaken, Carlos said Angel sold 50,000 copies of Volume 1?!

It was a pretty decent book if you're into majority Airbrushing. Honestly I was disappointed being a primitive brush jockey, but the fantastic Joan of Arc helped ease the pain and eventually a guy more into airbrushing than me bought the book.
All in all it was a pretty interesting read and I can definitely see why it sold well.

Are you certain that he did not say 15,000? Angel printed 5,500 for the first run. It seems improbable that he printed another 44,500 for a second run.
I do not see room for the Exrah except possibly as individual merc units included in HSN3 as legacy support. The sectorials still "in the air" are the Vedic, and the Black Hand then? We'll learn more at GenCon, assuming it is not 100% USAriadna.

When I watched it, I thought he said 50,000. Then I thought "hang on a minute... "
I remember the first print run being 5,000 or so and then a comment (possibly on Mayacast) mentioned 15,000 being the figure, as it was higher than anything else sold so far.

Have to say I was overall underwhelmed by the BoW Infinity week. Nothing really new to show us except the USAriadna box.
Hopefully they'll have a slew of new goodies waiting for us at GenCon.
Maybe CB will throw us a curve ball and bring out Equinox as a new faction or sectorial. There was a lot of mention of them in the rule book, so you never know. I'll keep the dream alive though and keep hoping that we'll see Exrah revived as samurai styled bug men with guns. I'd love to see them redone as something along these lines.
Who knows? That kind of bio-soldier/alien idea and aesthetic has a strong presence in Manga & Anime (which as we know in turn strongly influences some of the Infinity designers).
Arguably there are already elements of stuff like the Guyver with the Tohaa (with the symbiote, bio suits) but maybe it might take on even more with stuff like Genocyber and return of the Exrah one day? For now, we will have to miss out on the under-priced super-jumping bugs hopping around the board firing an HMG.
If the Exrah were redesigned to be similar to Aura Battler Dubine from the pictures above, I would have another faction! It's bad enough I have 5 forces already...with a 6 being USAriadna soon.
Black Hand was possibly going to be rolled into Tunguska for the same reason.
Why stil cound happen like that, I wouldn't bet on it. The writer love Nomads and really wants to make the Black Hand it's own sectional as the concept it one of the first even for RPG game Infinity staerted as.

Since we're expecting 2 new sectorials for each of the original factions, and then one for Aleph and Tohaa each, they'll figure out how to shoehorn in 2 Nomad Sectorials. They're too popular not to.
Not saying they absolutely will be, just tha tthe last we heard of the Black Hand sectorial was they were having issues filling them out as a full sectorial and were considering rolling them into Tunguska.
But that was over a year ago, so by now maybe they've come up with enough units to fill it out.
We've seen, with USAriadna, how many units they feel are required for a new sectorial army, so they must really be struggling if they're considering a rollback.

Yeah, I wish it could have been just a tad more detailed, but I still think it's useful seeing step-by-steps. It gives you some idea of how he ends up with the finished mini, before you could have just told me "magic" and I'd believe you.
In any case I'm interested in Volume 2, it's entirely possible he might have seen some of those criticisms of the book and made improvements.
And 15,000 copies is still impressive if you ask me.
I look forward to more updates to your P&M blog Mr. Church13. It looks as if you've been a bit of a slacker of late

If you note in the BoW video Bostria mentioned something about that. There is an internal debate at CB about how many new sectorials etc to add. Bostria is rumored to favor a smaller number than some of the others. The thing seems as yet unsettled.
I agree. A smaller number of broader sectorals would keep the range from getting too large and unwieldy. We don't need a list and accompanying model range for every major military formation from every nation in the setting.
Micky wrote: We've seen, with USAriadna, how many units they feel are required for a new sectorial army, so they must really be struggling if they're considering a rollback.
An issue with "The Black Hand" is that, fluffwise, they're an organization which draws its forces from the more "elite" forces for each of the three Nomad ships and Corvus Belli has been adamant about not "repeating" units too much within different Sectorials.
Black Hand would, as an example, necessitate Bakunin's Reverend Moiras as the "primary fighting members" with Intruders, Zeros, and Spektrs playing a part as well. Those are just what we know about.
Barzam wrote: Black Hand sounds like it'd just be vanilla Nomads, then. Maybe with some higher AVAs.
Not really.
Take the elite units and only the elite units. It's the complete opposite of vanilla--barring the fact you wouldn't have Link Teams because damn near everything would have some form of camo...

WTF are those from?
While those are bloody awesome, they don't fit with where Infinity has gone. CB has clearly clamped down on the more fantastical elements. While Tohaa have their engineered critters, they're more like quirky little Pokemon on the same level as Tinbots and FastPandas instead of giant insectoid TAGs.
Exrah will probably become the Squats of Infinity, only getting brief mention in the fluff.
I wouldn't be shocked if they made an appearance in the RPG; a nod to veteran players.
Exrah seem more like Zoats. They overstepped their bounds and got squashed and assimilated further into the hive mind.
However, with insectoid-looking things continuing in the Combined Army with Slug-Doctor, Hungry Hormagaunts, and Squid-Drones, maybe we'll see Exrah models enhanced to strip them of independence.
They may be only mostly non-combatants, but that hasn't stopped the Tohaa from getting Beyonce as a model.
Bootleg Exrah pilot or starship captain with in-game rules like the O-12 VIP then? If it meant they gave Exrah more than just a quick mention in the fluff, I'd be happy with that.
I wouldn't call the Exrah fantastical. They're not that bizarre or outlandish of a concept.

That would be a fun reversal with the Sygmaa to go along with the reverse armour mirror they have to symbiont armour. Tohaa 'enhance' others to be more intelligent, have Sygmaa 'enhance' units to be less intelligent. Have Exrah combat units be slave units to the Sygmaa.

As one of the people with a decent Exrah model collection, squatting the Concordat Exrah, waiting two years, and then bringing out a different Exrah range would have probably anger a lot of veteran Combined Army players. So if the people at CB are working on aliens, they're probably looking at their options as:
* Work on the Tohaa concepts, those are safe and seem to be popular.
* Work on one of the Combined Army races (except the Exrah) because they're pretty popular and doing well.
* Dump gasoline on themselves, light a match, and work on the Exrah in a room filled with candles and sawdust.
And we haven't been hearing reports of CB ordering a whole bunch of asbestos suits.
Well as long as it had rules for the Exrah models they made before, that's still not an issue. You could still use those models. The rules might be a bit different, but you could still use them. And then it's just like if you have an old model that gets resculpted, you can still use the old one, or buy the new one.
They can get the spiffy new boosts for remotes and they're priced as basic infantry (on the pricey side, because hey, it's still CA but still), and they bring some pretty funky weaponry to the table. They're no one-man rambo unit but they can be disproportionately dangerous, for what is essentially basic infantry.
OTOH, their basic gun is damn nice on its own and you get three of those in the starter already. Choices, choices
I grabbed the Batroids and 15 minutes later the 1 day sale e-mail came in. $55 for OI; would have jumped on that and Angry Neighbors to get the free shipping.
Just a quick heads-up for the UK buyers, pound is the strongest it has been against the euro for some time today - (€1.43 = £1), meaning that Ariadna box set now comes out at £62.50. Only a little bit more than retailers have the pre-order price for, and of course you have the benefit of buying it direct.

But then shipping is quite a lot on top of that.
Also keep in mind a LOT of folks who ordered from retailers got O:I a *lot* faster than those of us dumb enough to order directly from CB. Does that sound like me never doing them that solid again? Why yes it does (seriously though, ordering direct is only worth it if you were getting the limited van Zant model and even that is marginal, even for UK buyers.)

Didn't realise that distributors got the game out faster than CB though, that seems rather nonsensical!

No it's not, that's just the baseline rate before you put an address in. It's 11.90€ for me. Which isn't a massive amount but I can get it cheaper from a retailer over here.
Could be worse, I'm still waiting for a game I preorderd from another company last summer that was supposed to be out in December of last year. Supposedly it's finally being shipped next month though.

No, but some actual background on that sort of thing is sorely missed. How many soldiers are in an Invincibles squad? How many special weapons, specialists, etc? Are Hackers integrated at squad level, or are they found in platoon command units (or higher formations)?
Ariadna is a less popular faction, plus it will take time to see whether lots of people dive into that faction and drive production of new models for it. People get bored of talking about new models for 40k/WFB/AoS after a few days as well.
Though arguably Corvus Belli did a criical mistep by not including a werewolf riding in a motorbike's sidecar and firing an HMG. Just sayin'.
If Corvus Belli are moving offices, I sincerely hope that their new place is constructed entirely from laser-cut MDF.

Not really sure what you mean. Like, it's a big box release, for one new (sub)faction. Awesome! Now let's move on for people who didn't immediately preorder
Bear in mind that these will be an Augumber release--shown in August; released sometime in September.
Bostria stated that the Grunt SWC box would be shown at GenCon and would be one of three(or so--IIRC) releases. Julust(July showcase, released in August) is just USAriadna starter box so they don't get bottlenecked like they did with Icestorm.
Their goal, currently, is to get USAriadna packed hardcore for the foreseeable future like they did with the Tohaa in Campaign: Paradiso because simply put it's a "new faction" for all intents and purposes.
warboss wrote: Is it just me or did the excitement over USAriadna petter out somewhat faster than expected?
I am still very excited about it after putting in my pre-order.
Just now... it's waiting-mode.
I've had a handful of Ariadna figs but no real motivation to paint/play. Seeing this box, I really, really like it and now that motivation has spiked. Even arranged for a demo game tomorrow. It's been WAY too long since I last played!

I thought CB was done with their big move? That was a big story for them early last winter.
Nope, that's when they started planning the move. The actual move is happening now, see Angel's FB feed where he trolled people about leaving CB instead of leaving the old premises.
Well, 3 of those models in that pic appear to be USAR. The other may be Haqq or Yu Jing.
They could be the Minutemen (doubtful, probably a 4 man box for those) (Grunts SWC- should be a 4 man box for that as well).
It could also be the Blackjack Heavy Rangers. Those are AVA 3. Maybe a box set for them, or individual blisters.
I am hoping for the Blackjacks, maybe even the Paratroopers.
ski2060 wrote: Yes, we will. Those will allegedly be shown at GenCon.
Better be some love for all the factions. I don't think CB will leave everyone but Ariadna out in the cold, but I am concerned with GenCon in the States they're gonna push the USAriadna HARD.
We're expecting what now? More Grunts, more minutemen, a new paratrooper unit, 2 types of bike units, foxtrots, etc. There's a great deal right on the horizon for USARF.
Meanwhile existing units are just dying for a new sculpt. Plenty of work to be done updating and expanding important profiles for Haqq and Yu Jing.
No sour grapes. I'm optimistic that we're in for a good show. Only time will tell...

It's not Blackjacks, sadly.
It's the Grunt SWC box. Bostria flat-out stated that we'd see them at GenCon.
The final model hasn't had its base fully done yet, but the patterning matches the other USAR models.
They were hyping USA rather hard, nothing out of their norm. However, I hope we're going to see something else too. Even few teasers for re-made HS profiles, new hacking programs or any potential plans for existing sectorials would be interesting to hear. I hope USA is a standard mould for other sectorials.
It'll be the grunts box. I doubt there are any releases for other factions this month. The USAriadna army pack probably ate up massive amounts of production. The Grunts are for next month, along with who knows...
Remember that CB will be saving some reveals for their own Inter-Planetary tournament 2 weeks after GenCon.
One week to go on those USAriadna box pre-orders. Miniature Market now has it listed for $80.
Newb questions incoming: are new models released every month (Asking due to all the 'April's new releases' type posts)? If so, when are they usually previewed?

Ta in advance.
New models are released every month.
Keep an eye on Gencon news this weekend, CB will revealing units coming out the next month.

Releases are kinda weird.
So, you see the "previews" for them spaced throughout the month courtesy of CB's many partners.
The end of the month sees Corvus Belli themselves showcasing the release.
It will not be until the following month that the previewed miniatures will become available however. This is why I make up silly names like "Julust" or "Augber"--to represent it being a July preview/release but actually released in August.
@ski2060:
Sweet, Doremicom is a cool guy. He gave me my demo game of Infinity a few years back!
First peek of Augber's releases it seems. Yu Jing--Tiger with Spitfire
ALEPH Steel Phalanx--Acmon(new character)
Nomads--Bandit with Light Shotgun and Assault Hacking Device.
Ooh nice. I've just ordered the Tiger with Boarding Shotgun, he's possibly my favourite model, but I'll probably use the Spitfire one more so I'll no doubt pick that up too. And I'll probably get a Bandit if I like it after seeing a proper pic.
Something Ariadnan and something Nomad.
The Ariadnan looks to be Kazak(clothing style is different to USAriadnan and Kazaks get a snowy base rather than the base that the USAriadnans have gotten with cracked riverbeds) while the Nomad looks to be Tunguskan(they made a joking statement when Acheron Falls released about "gun lawyers"...)
overtyrant wrote: Just what Steel Phalanx need's, ANOTHER character and not more troop options! Where's our HI!!
Achilles and Ajax say hello
And quite frankly, Acmon is meant to be the "character" for a new unit. And if I were you, I would be less concerned about a new HI and would be more concerned about getting a basic Thorakitai SWC box.

I know Achilles and Ajax, Ajax is a regular feature in my lists. I mean a new unit HI, but yeah a dedicated Thorakitai unit box would be great!
Also, I suspect that Kazak guy and Tunguska guy are both characters. Tunguska guy seems to be carrying a briefcase. Possibly another briefcase gun like the CSU.

Someone is suggesting they are models for the upcoming Infinity RPG, as "two models" being shown at GenCon were purported to be RPG models.
And it's now confirmed that the Hacker? Is an Alguacile Hacker.
I'm hereby advising players do not buy this model .
This is blatantly obnoxious that rather than manning up and admitting they messed up by overcompensating with the CAD sculpts for Icestorm and they need to fix that box, they release a "proper" scaled Alguacile Hacker because otherwise it looks bad for them.

Honestly, I can't see myself ever bringing an Alg hacker over the other options Nomads get so I don't see myself buying this one anyway.
I figured he looked like an Alguacile. Not surprised. I'd have considered getting him if he had the funky gear from the old figure. As it is, I'm fine with my Corregidor box version, even if she does wind up looking like a teenager compared to the rest of yhe Algs.

Well you might be surprised how effective is having one in some army lists especially as a back up.
Steel Phalanx is mean to be a characters list it is designed to have them in and it illustrates their quirky and individual nature in contrast to the more regular armies, if nothing else the "background" nameless troopers seem to be the odd ones.

There is one thing I deeply do not understand about your reasoning, the CAD design does what you always screamed about, makes the range unified and cuts out the scaling diferences between sculptors, why exactly you are screaming against in now?

If you thought for a second that the issue was "waah, waaah CAD design!", then clearly you need to work on your English.
It is the same issue as the fact that they kept harping and harping on about how "Human Sphere and Campaign Paradiso will work just fine with N3 and won't need revisions! You can buy those books now and be totally okay!". They sell the product as one thing when in fact they already know it's a fabrication. Corregidor starter set was to be the "start of the redesigned Corregidor line".
It was invalidated in almost the same amount of time as the Imperial Knight Codex was.
And you can't for a second pretend that they were unaware of this fact releasing the CJC starter. They said they started Icestorm roughly two years prior, and started shifting to CAD while still releasing a ton of models as hand sculpts. It's an underhanded tactic and people constantly questioned them on it only to be reassured.
Automatically Appended Next Post: In any regards...
Grunt SWC models sighted!
Yay! I'll be buying a set of these to go with my USAriadna box.
ImAGeek wrote: The Alguacil hacker is separate because it's in the FRRM list, nothing to do with needing to fix it from the CJC box.
That's a happy coincidence, not necessarily a fact.
They had no problems removing the two Alguacile Hacker blisters when the CJC starter came out. They had no problems with releasing the Alguacile SWC box without a Hacker either.
They've also stated before that it's "unfortunate" that some profiles mandate you buy a box which you would not necessarily need the remainder models on and commented that's why there are businesses like Cho's.

That is true it is also true that it was not the start of converting to CAD, if you think Icestorm was been worked for two years prior you must consider how longer traditional sculpts were been worked on.

I didn't say that the sculpts for Icestorm "had been worked on for two years prior". I said that Icestorm had been worked on for two years prior.
They knew what models/factions they were going to be doing.
They knew they were switching to CAD.
And if you think that the traditional sculpts took longer, I don't know what to tell you. They tended to crank handsculpts out far faster than CAD--because they knew what they were doing with the handsculpts.
I don't understand such rage over an Alguacil hacker. CB likely realized the only one to be had is in a box set not everyone may want to buy so they put out another one. Looks like a cool mini to me.
I only follow peripherally. What is the exact issue with this hacker? Is it too big? Too small? Supposed to be CAD designed but traditionally sculpted? I'm really not sure what the issue is... and I'm not trying to be sarcastic... I really don't understand.

Must buy box for us USARF to-be players.
And the rest of what we're seeing today
Hacker from another angle
Tiger Soldier w/ Spitfire.
Backside of the Aleph fellow
And some clearer shots of what we're told are RPG minis
The Grunts are also very nice looking. Poses all look good and pretty normal. No bare midriffs, rage fists, combat heels or tactical rocks to be seen, either.
I like the Alguacil and the Tiger is as amazing as the last. The Grunts look fantastic, I'll be getting that set to go with my USAriadna box. And both RPG minis look great and both are for factions I play so I'm sure I'll find other uses for them too.
Can we PLEASE not go over the same godawful discussion about scale yet again? There's a dedicated thread to it in the infinity subforum and i'd really rather talk about awesome new models. Because they're amazing and i need pretty much every one of them

Agreed. Less squabbling and more pictures, and news. The big news, that'll be Saturday. The seminar is to be broadcast on Twitch?
If those are RPG characters, I'm curious about what more will be coming, and naturally how well they could be used as proxies

Complaining about complaining often leads to as much, if not more, off topic derailing than the original 'offending' comment.
Thanks!
Is being clueless about what the actual complaint is against the rules? Because I am. I'm still not sure exactly what the issue is. I've got it narrowed down to either the scale or the sculpting style of the hacker mini.

The issue is that CB said that the CJC starter was going to be the start of a complete overhaul of Corregidor in a new style. But then later Corregidor models are much bigger than the models in that box, even though computer design means they could've scaled them really easily to be the same. While I don't really have a problem with it, some people do, and the difference is massive. The newer Alguaciles dwarf the Intruder and Wildcats from CJC starter and they're meant to be MI. so it's not the scale of the hacker, it's that the scale of that whole box is completely out of whack with newer stuff even though it would've been easy to keep them the same scale.
warboss wrote: Ah, thanks. Is this new fig to scale with the Icestorm stuff?
Yeah (well I assume so). Everything these days are pretty consistent with each other, it's all just quite a bit bigger and bulkier than the older stuff. I don't really have any issues with it but I understand why people do. I especially love the chunky HIs that now actually look like they can fit a person in them.
I only just got into Infinity, and I've heard a lot about this divide between the older stuff and the newer stuff. It's hard to tell what's what if you haven't been following along all this time - I would have thought for sure the Corregidor starter would have been one of the more recent sets, as the style looks consistent with the O:I Nomad starter (as opposed to the old Nomad starter, which Miniature Market still has for sale). But apparently not!

It is quite recent, and it is the new style. That's why (i think) Kan is so annoyed about it. But we are off topic really now.
The new Yu Jing soldier looks great. Not a fan of the faction but gotta appreciate the look.
Also, Nomads are my number one but that hacker, while sculpted really well, isn't doing it for me. Maybe a better picture of his face would change my mind.

And yeah the Tiger Soldier design is amazing. I think I prefer the BSG model (which I just ordered the other day) but the Spitfire profile is probably more useful.
great RPG character for Ariadna!!!
love the tactical cigar...
CB are really making me happy with the new USAriadna...
the box has the must-have (for me) striding Grunt, and now this sniper Grunt...
i enjoyed painting the SAS and Merovingian models i have done, but painting this new camo-scheme is going to be a treat...
i don't get that excited about modern warfare minis, but somehow, just throwing a little sci-fi in gets me all fired up to paint...
CB have been my favorite company to watch evolve over the last decade...
thanks for starting my day right with these pics, Bladerunner...
With that hair and the swooshy jacket, I could have sworn the RPG character was a variant of Lucien Sforza. Either way, good to see some male Civvie-looking models.
I'm actually really impressed by those USAriadna grunts. I really didn't like any of the models from the USariadna starter pack, even the Dog Warrior who IMO look like this, but these are nice.
Yeah, it's just been in the past week that these are back out. Miniature Market changed from Preorder to In Stock just in the last couple days and mine shipped out today.

While we've got this discussion here, what the heck is Father Knight from O:IS got his foot up on? Looks like a dismembered piece of something but I'm not familiar enough with the range yet to recognize it.

Ok, I actually like this game!
Spoiler:
My money is a Ramhorn Should pad and a shoulder actuator. Ramhorn is the style of TAG that Scarface has.

I rage because they've put Alguacil LGL version in the support box and released re-sculpt for already existing miniature that isn't that old - Alguacil hacker. Not to mention very cool Nomad RPG character that will likely be used for good replacement. I doubt I'll see Fusilier LGL resculpt any time soon.

I can't imagine they'll be long seeing as we're seeing painted finished models. Next month maybe, or the one after?
Welp, the Ariadna HMG suffers from "forward mag placement", again... This time it's so far forward the dude is just gripping the mag instead of using either what would be the gun's normal hand-grip, or a vertical one you can add onto the weapon. *sigh*
Meh, I am not getting the new scale stuff anyway, so it's a wash, but it really does bug me when I see it on what would otherwise be a really nicely done miniature.

It might be a "preorder bonus" for the RPG or a Kickstarter bonus...
Thirding the foregrip. You can see it plain as day. he's got a balled fit in front of the magazine. He's not holding the magazine in any way, he's gripping something tube-like in front of it. It's a foregrip.
Yeah the picture I was looking at wasn't as well illuminated and from a different angle. But yeah, that magazine, and the magazine on the sniper rifle are much further forward than I'd like. It's just something which irritates me when I see it on what would otherwise be really great miniatures.
I'm tempted, the models look kind of neat to paint.. but you can't take those in the Shasvastii sectorial right? Seems kind of silly to pick that up now when I haven't got anything but shasvastii. Also still really shaky on how the whole baggage thing works or even imetrons for that matter (but I guess they're just cheap, yet easy to kill, orders).
Imetrons aren't--but Imetrons are available to Vanilla and likely are going to be a key part of the Evolved Intelligence Sectorial, like how ALEPH's Vedic Sectorial was going to necessitate the Netrods being a key feature.
Ikadrons have (Baggage, Repeater), 2x Light Flamethrowers, Flash Pulse for Ranged weapons. They come with G: Autotool and are AVA 2 for Shasvastii.
Also, it's worth mentioning that there are rumblings that Shasvastii are going to see a full makeover, Morat style. Hence why we saw nothing really new for them lately.
Oh, thanks for that, Kan. I will have to reconsider, then. I must have skimmed over the profile too quickly and haven't checked out the new army builder d'oh.
I'm fearful of any shasvastii reboot. I really like what already exists and I'm not sure how they could make a lot of it much cooler... but if they manage to I'll be freaking screwed moneywise =/ Oh well though, at least any inconsistencies between unit types can be more readily explained away by them evolving to meet changing conditions etc. Hard to have old and new morats together, but a new breed of shasvastii doesn't seem as far-fetched to me.
Curses.. now do I want it or not.. he'd look pretty cool with the unidrons whenever I get those..
