Always had a soft spot for this little fellar (also about the third model I ever bought). Chaos Dwarf from about 1988.
A close second for me was the Life Elemental from the same period. Came with a Death Elemental which was less good.

Can't choose just one. But if I could narrow it down to maybe 3, I'd say the Warhammer Giant, Lord Kroak and most definitely this:

If THAT is not full of Orcy character, I don't know what is.

GW has made some really good models... the Escher Heavy is one of my favourite oldies. More modern minis... Queek the Headtaker and Lelith Hesperax are awesome. Captain Tycho has tons of character to me... it's hard to choose.
Edit: I must include Brian Nelson's orcs and goblins. Warlord Grotfang, the goblins wolf chariot, the gobbo riding a squig backwards showing his ass is ace.

My vote, and it's a bit of an odd choice, goes to the Halfling Hot Pot:
Back in the early 90's when I started Fantasy, I had one of these. I can't remember where I got it from and I don't know why since I never owned any other halflings or a halfling army but I do remember thinking the whole ensemble was full of character and humour.

The stormvermin.
THEY are cool.
the zombies would be my second choice.
nb: if forge world was in this it would have to be the Lucius pattern warhound titan.

The new Plastic Chaos Demon Prince.
For Chaos users who have played for a significant time, its like a god send. The previous edition Demon Prince was a cooler more interesting model, but very very difficulty to keep together. Mine has 4 pins in the torso, 1 in each leg. I replaced the head with the Doombull head, and the axes / hands with Doombull hands. I love it, but don't have wings.
After initially seeing the Plastic kit before its 2 year waiting period, I was happy to put one together. I put it together in 5 minutes. The metal one I remember taking 5 days. The size feels right, the weapons have that chaos feel, and given GW pricing... the price seems fair.
I'll post comparison pictures later.

Does this include Forge World units?
You may find a historical perspective useful in one of these threads.
The Green Knight is always a big winner in these.
For me, I have a hard time picking just one. This time, I'm going to go with - Chaplain in Terminator armor.

I would have to agree with bok_choy17. That dwarf took my breath away the second they released it. True classic.
If I had to pick another I would be looking at
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440022a&prodId=prod1160067a&rootCatGameStyle=
Now that is a sense of motion, bags of character, quite unique design as well.

Good to see there are already a couple of Terminator Chaplains up - I've long considered it my favourite Space Marine model and I'm hard pressed to think of a model I like more overall! I think the Giant kit is one of my favourite kit concepts because it's so fun, and perfectly demonstrates the awesomeness of a multi-part kit, although the humble plastic Goodwin-Pattern Space Marine is probably the greatest example in history.
