tipios: Thanks! I spent extra time on the chipping, especially on the legs, because I wanted him to look old and felt it would tone down the danger stripes a bit.

storag: Thank you! He's supposed to be rummaging through all kinds of junk, lookin' fer bitz - a bit like me

monkeytroll: thanks! The chipping was: drybrush codex grey, drybrush metal. For the bigger chips: a ptch of scorched brown, then boltgun metal. And to top it all off, coat of devlan mud

Gitsplitta: Thanks! Hazard stripes were a must, IIRC

Aralasi: Thanks!

So, after a small foray in Waagh Dakka, it's back to the stompa. I finished off a secnd grot suparokkit, which was surprisingly easy to do:

And a size comparison:

For thos einterested: the body is a grotzooka with the rear bit reversed and the magazine cut off. The tip is a part from the wartrakk wheel decoration. He's a bit thinner then the other one, but it fits nicely in the bomb elevator I made

Very nice... much better than the old grot bombs from GW.

Super cool! Great paint job on the cybergrot.

Seeing the two bombs next to each other I can't help but think of "Fat Man and Little Boy". Great job with the grotzooka

So, guys, it finally happened... This weekend, the great voice spoke to me. It said:

FINISH HIM!!!

"And will you then clean up the hobby room as you promised?" Our hobby room also serves as a guest room, and since we're having guests on Friday, The hobby room needed cleaning. Which I was gonna do after I finished the stompa, since , like any good mek-grot, I want my bitz in the open... resulting in quite a mess.

So, I got the big guy finished this weekend, and now it's cleaning time...

But before that, it's piccie time!

First off, a fly-around of the model:

And showing off the legs, of which I'm quite proud (and yes, I know this sounds wrong ):

Note that the paint pot lid supporting the foot is there because the box I put the stompa on to photograph was all bent on top. He can stand perfectly on a flat surface. No tipping issues, becasue the flat foot is filled with a mix of sand and PVA

A scale shot with a (very lonely) marine:

And a mini's eye-view which, IMO, is a supa-cool shot:

I also built a number of panels for the head and some crew, but I sadly forgot to take piccies because I was too busy jumping up and down excitedly at actually finishing the stompa at a decent rate

So, piccies of the krew and the inside of his head will be for another day.

Right now, I'm gonna let the big guy rest for a while, then give him one last thorough inspection before undercoating - in short, any suggestions are most welcome Enjoy!

It looks amazing Khaine. I think the cocking gun is hilarious... but is it a shoota or a skorcha?

The upper deck is remarkable. When you are taking pics of the crew, can you take a close up of the crane, the front of it, with that new lower section?
OH! I just saw the nipple gun! HAHAHAHAHA

Impressive. Most impressive.

Very nice CK, that looks superb. Full of little details to keep noticing

Everything works well on the top without overcrowding it, that elevator looks the bomb (sorry, couldn't resist)

Some lovely detailing on the exhausts, I don't think we've seen a rear view before. The only thing I can point out is the right back looks a little empty compared to the rest. I know it's good to have some clear space, but I can't help thinking there should be a bit of loose wiring/cabling coming from that little hatch-thing, but you know, that's probably just my wire fetish coming into play

Is there a hole on what was the top? Is there an opportunity to get some grots hanging out the bottom there? Not that I think it needs it, but who can resist squabbling grots hanging under a giant mechanical war-machine.

One thing puzzles me however, what is this cleaning up you speak of?

on the last minis eye view picture the point at the bottom of the stompa where the head usually slots in kinda looks a bit "weird" to me. That said it looks totally awesome and i much prefer this to the gw kit as it was intended by gw.
oh and i just noticed the hinges on the armour plates that go around the top of your stompa. where on the standard kit they are ment to show how the plates can move, but on yours the plates are vertical and yet there are hindges... so in reality the plates would have fallen back and be hanging instead of being compleatly vertical.

just two little things that caught my eye. seriously though if gw made the stompa kit like this i would pay at least £80 for it instead of the £60 at the mo.

Wow, lots of replies, let's go through them

The Good Green: Thank you! and it's a shoota. I'll put in some pics tomorrow of the upper deck!

Lord Poison: ? You're absolutely right, we should ignore one of the movies that actually created the whole post-apocalyptic setting and which is, as confessed by GW, a source of inspiration for orks? lol... Not to mention I actually like the Mad Max movies...

Gitsplitta: Thanks!

monkeytroll: Thank you . Glad you like all the little details, it's what makes a mini come to life IMO. And yes, this is the first rear view. I didn't mod all that much there, so I didn't bother taking pics till now. I agree the back is a bit more plain but 1) I need the room for the graffiti and 2) there's lot of detail on the stompa kit. I'll see what I can do for the loose wires though

Is there a hole on what was the top? Is there an opportunity to get some grots hanging out the bottom there? Not that I think it needs it, but who can resist squabbling grots hanging under a giant mechanical war-machine.

It's not a full-blown hole, it's bowl-shaped, so no adding grots without adding a bunch of bitz first. I've been thinking about adding the top bit of the regular stompa head over there tbh. I agree it's a bit plain, but anything you add there is going to be the butt of a lot of jokes. See? It's already started . Maybe adding the top bit of the stompa head, with a grot peeking out manning a burna?

One thing puzzles me however, what is this cleaning up you speak of?

Not quite sure... Something the wife's always rambling on about... Maybe I should google it?

small disclaimer here: I have a very understanding wife - she actually bought me the stompa in the first place

Vitruvian XVII: Thanks, I agree he'll fit right in! This thread has somehow turned into a 'let's-update-all-the-ork-vehicles' thread. I always think it's a bit of a shame GW doesn't go all the way with some models. The new trukk is the exception for me, it's absolutely lovely, but with all the other ork vehicles, I always feel the need to add that little bit extra. Mekboy fever I guess

bigfish; I agree. like I said above, I'm considering adding the top of the stompa head there. This is one of the reasons I need to let the stompa rest for a few days: it takes away the tunnel vision . I hadn't really noticed the hingey bits till you pointed them out, but I'm sure I can work something out for those. Paint them to look like they're added to the plate below it or something. Thanks for pointing it out!

just two little things that caught my eye. seriously though if gw made the stompa kit like this i would pay at least £80 for it instead of the £60 at the mo

Thanks! . Almost all of it is stompa kit and plasticard btw, if you feel like giving it a try I'd be more then happy to give you a few pointers. And: don't let GW read that or they'll up the price to 80 quid anyways
