Hmm, loving that stompa, but i have only one problem with it, not enough dakka. Seriously though, grots tend to dislike combat and try to destroy their enemies at range, so just one massive cannon isnt enough. Perhaps and back mounted manticore missile launcher?

Use the Kustom Stompa rules, and just cover it with Dakka. You don't even need a TCCW then- just lots a Deff Kannons, Super Gattlers, and all sortrs of fun stuff.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Ahha- I see a familiar forearm.

That little guy is mind blowing. Looks like the next generation or some "offspring" of Monkeytroll's Tek-Masta:

Anung Un Rama: Glad you like it . It's just a cybergrot for waagh dakka though - but I might consider him for a counts-as loota. I don't have any plans for a second big mek yet. If I did one, it would include a servo-crane I think

Thortek: thank you!

bigfish: you can post them in the runtherd's thread!

monkeytroll: Thanks! And yeah, the grabba claws were a nice source of legs. I had plenty anyway, so... presto, a grotarii platform

Gitsplitta: Thanks - now to cook up some background about him being an infiltraitor from the squeaky waagh . Totally unrelated yet quite important: did you manage to take pics of that classic pulsa rokkit launch installation yet?

EagleArk: You're right, he needs more dakka, and it will be added: I'll be making a suparokkit launch installation on top, and it needs a few more big shootas. Your idea is interesting but I already tried that for a mock up, and I think I can beat it with something more grotty .

Anvildude: Yep, a deff arsenal sounds interesting, but the cc arm can only be replaced bya lifta-droppa - I prefer the cc arm then. Besides, now he shares the same weapon-lopsidedness with the megagrots, so design-wise he fits in nicely.

The Good Green: Told you I'd loot it . Glad you like the little guy! I hadn't seen monkeytroll's Tek-masta yet, but: great minds think alike!

Any chance of a preview of your idea?

EagleArk: of everything but the launch installation, yes - I still need to figure out the launch area itself, but it will basically be a launch platform like on an aircraft carrier, with a kamikaze grot in his suparokkit. If I have room, I'll add a grot kommissar 'encouraging' the pilot.

So, general profile with stuff on the top (the rightmost area will have the launch installation):

And a close-up of the top, showing of the gun turret + lookout post; the (mocked-up) bomb lift with crane in the rear, and the space where the launching device will come. And no, a big slingshot won't do!

On a side note: I finished of the cc arm, you can make out some of the armour plating and a big (working!) piston in the pics as well.

Enjoy!

Just discovered this thread and I must say... WOW! Always absolutely loved the idea of an all Grot army and you've definitely hit it right on the head.
I may "thief" the Mega Grot idea (hell most of your ideas hehe), been looking to do an Ork army, just with less Orks if you know what I mean
Keep up the fantastic work. I am definitely subscribing!

I like the way the upper deck is shaping up. I'd say (tho, you may have said it yourself) the crow's nest needs a couple big teef on either side of the lookout... to match the upper face plate behind 'em. More the flat plate teef than those tusks, though.

I love that the lifta is on tracks. As far as the launcha itself why not just build a cradle of sorts for the bombs, that the molded-in chain would do the job of thrustin it forward while the engines on board ignite, and fix that cradle/platfor thing to the spot where the foot goes...

Everything is looking great on the big guy. Working pistons, sir? You're mad!

bigfish: thanks! The launch platform is still in its conceptual phase though; I've been spending too much time rummaging through my bitz boxes

monkeytroll: yep - I even needed to add a 'sliding' part to make it all work, but hey, it's a signature thing

Mr.Malevolent: Thank you, I'm glad you like it! The proper term is 'loot' btw , and: feel free, always nice to see what other peopel do with a similar idea!

The Good Green: Thanks! The crow's nest is enclosed by two wheel guard thingies from the bike set, like this:

So yeah, it has teeth to match the upper plate. The lift itself isn't on tracks, but both the watch tower and the launch mechanism will be. And you're right about the cradle, but I want it to look aimable, so I still have some work cut out for me there.

Everything is looking great on the big guy. Working pistons, sir? You're mad!

Just the one, and it'll probably stay at thay, but: yes, I'm mad - I thought we'd already established that

storag: Thanks man!

Now, some more piccies, starting with an overview to show off the profile:

And two shots of the upper deck, showing the crane and the lift (which both need detailing), and a stand in for the launch platform. I also made a start on the first manned grot bomb.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/276163-Conversion%2C%20Grots%2C%20Stompa%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000%2C%20Work%20In%20Progress.html

It's hard to see because of the flash, but the lift is sunken into the stompa itself by about 2.5 cm (1"), adding some depth to the model and enhancing the 'realism' - always strange when talking about greenskins, I know

Enjoy guys, and opnions are welcome as always!

i actually like this stompa concept better than the gw one it looks a lot less like an at-at as in when its hobbling around all you have to do is tangle a leg and it collapses and boom this is more like one of those small stout mma fighters if you see what im saying

There is nothing wrong about realism with Orks, unless it is *not* overshadowed by over the top, larger than life, more dakka!

I think I've finally worked out the one thing I don't like about this endeavour - inverting the Stompa body and then adding arms looks like it is almost 2 Stompas wide? That's one fat grot!

Yep, that was all. Carry on! Looking forward to the end result (and still holding out for a chance to see it all in person!)

Rogue Wolves: Thanks, it was my goal from the start to get away from the upturned flower pot- thingy. Yhis one looks like he could actually walk

whalemusic360: I agree, this one is more in line design-wise with it's smaller cousins. He also mimics greenskin physiology a bit better, which makes more sense to me.

Mr.Malevolent: Paint? Lol, that usually takes a while with me. I can only cringe when I think of the amount of orange I'm gonna need...

Arakasi: I agree more dakka is where it's at, hence the suparokkit launchas As for how wide it is: I think it's a tad wider then a regular stiompa, but visually it looks a lot bigger because its shape is inverted. In the end, I don't think the differenc eis that big, though mine is 'filled up' more: no weedy cc arm, but a decent one, big shoulders instead of tiny ones, etc...

Yep, that was all.
That's all? You do realize I'll be painting it ornage now, do you?

and still holding out for a chance to see it all in person!
Who knows... Maybe we should mail/PM each other for that? I'm sure we can work something out

Now, piccie time!

I finally finished the launcha platform, so the basic shape is all there.

Close-up of the top:

And a pic of the kamikaze grot and the launcha:

So, what do youn guys think? Does it look like it could work? The basic idea is that the crane lifts the suparokkit on the launch pad, that tyhe grots turn it in the general direction of the enemy, and that the kamikaze steers

And to finish off, a to do list:
- finish the crane and the lift bit
- detail the legs
- detai the inside of the head

I'm getting there, slowly but surely... I'm going to ingore the fact it'll need paint as well for a while -can't cope with that yet
