Sweet littl'uns.

Nice gem effect and liking the pink nose Not sure if it would look better without the red base, or if it needs it.

monkeytroll: Thanks! I play High Elves in WHFB, so gems are something I've had some practice with. The nose looks a tad redder in the pic, it's pretty natural irl (just held it to make sure ).

Now, onto the painting front! A lot slower than my modelling, as usual, but I did manage to get two more lootas done, and some work on the last one. A soon as the walking drone is finished, I'll have a fully finished loota unit. Only 5-strong, but still, a finished unit

Piccies:

I took my time with the skin on these guys, and it paid off. I've done the basic grots assembly-line style for the flesh, and that make sit a bit rough here and there. Still, the wash ties everything together admirably, I'm glad I experimented with that.

Couldn't get the camera to focus properly on the other side, so those are individual shots:

And a WIP shot of the last member(s) of the unit:

For those wondering: that's a (very old) snotling from WHFB.

Hope you guys like were I'm going with this!

I'm really liking those ship head drones as an idea for ships the walker is great as well.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Runna: Thank you! Hope I can keep living up to your expectations!

monkeytroll: thanks! This remote is probably my best, hence the need to show it off . And I agree that' it's nice to get units finished instead of random models, adds some moitivation to keep going. And dem pansy Tau is good for lots o' things: as lunch, scrap parts, cc practice...

Llamahead: Thanks, feel free to loot the idea. Weren't you working on BFG ork ships at some point?

Flying Pooo: Welcome, hope you keep on liking it!

dsteingass: Happy reading! there's another (better, IMO) buggy somewhere in the thread, and a few battlewagons as well. If I ever reach p. 50, I'll do a recap post .

Now, from the small guys to the big guy: I got the orange done on the main body the stompa! Just getting it to this stage means it drank two pots of macharius solar orange and 1.5 pots of ogryn flesh wash... Piccies:

And one without the arms (I still need to highlight and wash those, but ran out of paint and time...). This one shows the colour a bit better:

Ok, up to Page 8 now.

I cannot tell you how much I absolutely LOVE your hydraulics like on the feet/legs of this

Would you mind posting a tut on these awesome-looking hydraulics if you have some spare time? That little touch adds soo much to the final look, it is amazing!
I am particularly interested in how you sand/file down the round styrene rod to a curve to fit to another piece of styrene rod perpendicular to it.

I'm quite willing to do a tutorial, but I think this pic will help you out a lot:

If there's any questions, just ask!

I am particularly interested in how you sand/file down the round styrene rod to a curve to fit to another piece of styrene rod perpendicular to it.

It's the round file that you'll be needing for most stuff . Nothing fancy, just make a nice straight cut, then file away till the two bits of rod fit. For bigger stuff, I use my rotary tool: I put the rotary tool in a vice, switch it on, and hold the rod for more control. You have to watch your fingers though - more control equals to holding the rod closer to the rotary tool. Guess what happens if you're the controlling type?

OOOh! wow! So simple! Does the filing get quicker with practice? like, by now, you probably don't even think about it, it is automatic muscle memory?

I was thinking that you had to glue sandpaper on identical chunks of styrene rod and slowly shape each curve...ugh, scary.

Do you use the sanding drum or what bit do you use in the dremel/rotary tool?

I'm a big fan of the KISS principle, though I admire you idea, if only for the comedic value . It's real easy to do; I think I can get the curve right in about 10 secs. It's abit trial and error at first becasue you have to learn how much pressure you can apply on the file, but that takes just a few tries till you got it right.

Do you use the sanding drum or what bit do you use in the dremel/rotary tool?

I use this:

... or a variant with the right thickness. Find one that matches your rod, and keep in mind that a bit too thin is better then a bit too thick. Since the styrene heats when sanded, you can 'push it in' just a bit, ensuring a tight fit. Filling a gap because you sanded away too much is a lot more difficult.

Did you think about spraying the stompa? (I honestly can't recall if you've got an air-brush or not at the moment as once again I've just returned to my hovel from work )

Phew you're away for a few days, and lots of replies . Let's go through them!

Arakasi: Care to put your money where your mouth is?

MeatShield: Thansk man

Flying Pooo: Thank you! This whole army was about a unique take on the greenskins, so I'm happy that it' working out properly

HAZZER: Thanks man! It's supposed to looka bit like a big dread, it adds some continuity to theork war engines IMO. I'll be checking out your log!

Tortured-Robot: Thanks! I believe George Dellapina was the first time I saw this colour combination, he used it on a bunch of speed freaks way back in the nineties. When I was looking for an out-of the-ordinary colour scheme, they caught my eye. The rest, as they say, is history

Gitsplitta: Yep, I like the look of the whole unit. As fopr them having gun: they get to 1. stay away from the enemy, 2. shoot big guns and 3.boss other things around. Of course they're having fun!

warpcrafter: Thank you! Feel free to loot the stompa idea, drop by if you have any questions! The right shoulder actually uses the top of a battlewagon cabin, like this:

I didn't use a baneblade turret because I didn't have one, but I'm sure it would work out nicely

Commander Cain: Thanks, that's more or less the point

Now, as we start a new year, I thought it would be a nic emoment for an overview, showing how the Revolution has grown, and what's still to do.

First off, a group shot of the painted stuff:

And the, the unpainted stuff:

The stompa is the big guy here, but not essential for regular gaming. For a fully playable 1750 list I still need to paint 15 grots, 9 burnas, 5 lootas, and the megadeffkopta. Could be worse . All the rest is gravy, but it'll nicely round out my army. After all this is painted I'll still be adding other stuff, but it'll all be about the indulgences then

Happy New Year!
