Subject: Sedition Wars Kickstarter, full of McVey goodness! Sci Fi Survival Boardgame. 420-430k Stretch
Indeed! But my point is that even if it's a bit crap, I'll be getting my money's worth from the pile of figures, and presumably you will from, the combo of minis and tiles.
scipio.au wrote:Having just read the thread, I'm going to say that the entitlement mentality on show from some posters over on BGG makes me incredulous. I've seen some of the same here on Dakka, but it appears nowhere near as prevalent.
I'm keen on this game for the figures alone. I was down for We've got Movement (2x Biohazard) before it hit any stretch goals or had any extras added. Then again, I'm buying a pile of miniatures I like the look of that also have a boardgame attached. Others maybe buying a boardgame that comes with playing pieces, or the promise of the BEST GAME EVAR. Others are buying some cool looking tilesets that they can use for their other games.
It's funny you say that Scipio.au, considering your avatar and some of the posts you have made here I can imagine you having exactly that face while typing your comments? I jest...
I agree though about Sedition Wars, it has got that advantage of being able to appeal to both boardgame and mini collectors. Personally, of course I will enjoy the game itself, but I'm probably most excited about using the minis for Infinity; The Vanguard as security or an O-12 force, and the Strain models I think are absolutely perfect miniatures for some of the sci-fi zombie-esque scenarios.

Every copy of Dr Hexen will ship with her evolved version free! Ships together with Dr Hexen in March 2013.
Let's see what else is in the little box of goodies shall we? Maybe some playmates for those cute baby Drones?
"The Strain nano-spore has an affinity for improvising with the remnants of human anatomy. Among the most twisted and insidious of necroforms crafted from organic remains is the Bonecrab. This crawling aberration is a nightmare sculpted from a skull and functioning phalangeal limbs.
The Bonecrab attacks by latching on to a living victim and spiking nano-tendrils into its host. This invasive parasitic attack leaves the victim helpless while the creature seizes control of the his motor functions. Once the victim is absorbed into the Strain construct, the Bonecrab detaches, and moves on in search of new prey."
Every Biohazard set gets 6 of these skittering horrors if we hit our stretch! Ships in March 2013, unpainted and unassembled. And yes, there are rules for these things.... brrr...
And finally, those of you who hate fanservice, avert your eyes now! You've been warned!
"The crew of the Calamity never thought they'd get caught up in the going's on of a remote science station. Still, the take from handling the "special" cargo they hauled from that creepy moon made everything worth it. That and a bit of RnR on a cushy science facility with all the mod cons unavailable on a deep space freighter was a good morale booster for the crew.
Now Captain Ian Reins, his XO Bella Grange, enforcer Phoenix Corbett, and the mysterious and deadly pilot Delta Chen have found themselves caught between Vanguard forces and slavering mutants intent on infecting them with some kind of nano-virus. Still, the crew has dealt with misfortune before, and they intend to get out of this bit of worry like they always do... intact, alive, and broke."
The Captain and his lovely XO will glady report for duty for paltry $20! Like the rest of the promo figures, please limit yourself to 3 each per Biohazard set you're pledging for. Ships in March 2013, unpainted and unassembled.
Complete the crew of the Calamity! If we hit this stretch, Phoenix and Delta join the Cap in his (mis)-adventures on Alabaster Station! They'll ship the same time as the Captain and XO and are free with every set of the Mercenary Crew!
Mercenary Crew complete if we hit this stretch!
The crew of the Serenity... I mean Calamity. LOL! Awesome. And holy gak - not-Jane even has the hat!!!
I must have those crab spidery thingies.
*adds $20*

This Kickstarter will explode with the addition of the not-Serenity crew.

Heh, as a WWE fan, I see hear everything he posts in Johns voice.. so .. yeah.
Well I was getting this anyways, but it seems it might be a bit more than Zombicide with all thos lovely extras, plus the terrain pack.

The $4k in 1 hour says that these guys are rather popular. What is the bet that the $500K goal is Strain versions of them all?
I'd rather they completed the 'Calamity' Crew with a Doctor, Engineer, Hooker and possibly a Pilot and Preacher.
A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

I wonder if their going to use the same pledge manager that they used for Zombiecide.... If so it would allow people to add extras later on and help eleviate some shock to the wallet.

Now besides the Biohazard level, I'm really gonna have to balance which characters I want to get, so I don't end up spending 150+.
I may even have to drop the opticamo vanguard, even though they will be oh-so cool in skirmish games in this setting, because I was only going to get Ridley and Phaedrus, and now I have to get Mal and Zoe!
Absolute hooray for the infected Phaedrus and the drones, though! Too bad they are March-ers.

I'm super stoked they added this stretch. This was my number two choice for an homage (behind something from the stargate franchise) and I trust Mike and Ali to get sculptors who make these perfect. I'm down for 2 crews.
I'd also support the flushing out of the crew but given the people in this one it might be hard it to generate the interest as I think most peoples favorite characters are in these 4.
And I personally don't think these 4 should be strained. There isn't a reason and honestly this is really just a thank you to fans. No need to strain, let's get more stuff!
Oh, and when we hit $460 the biohazard level comes with 93 models (50+24+6+12+1). That's a lot of stuff for $100!

That's true. I like that we will get River and Jayne instead of a "Strained" version of Mal and Zoe.
I can't wait to write a backstory that ties in all the characters.
-Dr. Phaedrus is a Firebrand spy/mole that is on the station to use it's advanced facilities to enhance a bio-plague and let it loose on the Vanguard system planets as a WMD. She screws up and becomes the "Strain Queen".
-The crew of the Calamity are unwitting pawns in the whole mess, who didn't know what it was that they were paid to transport to Alabaster Station. They're like the crew from Alien: Resurrection, but cooler.
-The engineer's story stays the same. Sometimes the local mechanic just has to get his hands dirty when the think-tank brainboys with their over-hyped degrees screw up the station he works so hard to keep running.
-Ridley is a civilian on the station, rescues a young child while running with the Vanguard troops, and eventually ends up in a utility powersuit fighting a Grendlr.

Wow... imagine that. Imagine if rather than the crew of the Betty in A:R it had be the crew of the Serenity. I mean sure, the end of the film would have still gargled balls, but the bits in between...
