I thought you coudn't wound stuff that has twice the toughness of the weapon strength? Is that not the case?

I can't speak about destroying someone else's HQ, but perhaps the most memorable would be my IG Master of Ordinance destroying himself and several members of the Command team with a risky orbital barrage. Pretty funny despite the own-goal, wish 40k had more of those moments these days!

I had an archon with agoniser and shadowfield take out a C'tan shard, 8 lychguard, and a blob of 20 warriors with an overlord with warsythe down by himself. He killed the C'tan the normal way, but won combat and chased the other two squads down. Never seen Necron fail so many leadership saves as that game.

yeah, he's thinking about instant death. I've drug down grimnar with guard bayonets on multiple occasions.

I think the best one I've ever seen with my own eyes was back in 4th ed CSM v. Tyranid. Bugzilla stomps down the field. CSM sorcerer nonchalantly walked forward and turned a carnifex into a spawn. Two turns later, the same sorcerer walked over and turned the last warrior in a squad into a spawn, which broke synapse for like half the tyranid army causing basically all the little ones to flee off the table from bolter fire that turn. The sorcerer then runs towards the hive tyrant (one of the last remaining models) and the game ends right before he gets in range. Everyone assumed that it was turned into a spawn on turn 7, even if they didn't get to play it.

My personal best was a 65 point eviscerator priest that hunted down and blew up a hammerhead that had just basically wasted the rest of my army by itself (it was a low points game).

My entire army is gone - it's just the priest left as the only model between me and a wipe. He charges into some stealth suits and singlehandedly wipes them out with his eviscerator.

The hammerhead moved 12" and got ready to line up a shot, when across the board, the lone, angry servant of the emperor charged forward and JUST got into close combat with the vehicle. It turns out that needing 6's to hit isn't so bad when you get 3 rerollable attacks.

The one hit eviscerated the vehicle to death.

Not the most spectacular kill, perhaps, nor the one with the most pure damage caused, but I like the idea of a single lunatic with a 8-foot-long chainsaw word catching a flying tank and beating the pulp out of it.

Hmmm, my HQs haven't really done much, but i'll try:

Daemon Prince turning a bloated Shas'O into a spawn, which proceeded to charge the hammerhead behind it, auto-hit since it hadn't moved, and blow it up, in a 750pt game, leaving 2 squads of 12 FWs with all the trimmings left for Tau. It was over at that point.

Had the same Daemon Prince turn a kitted-out old DE archon into a Spawn too, after my opponent had finished bragging out the 2+ invul and combat drugs and other goodies that made him unkillable and a beast to anything he touched.

Chaos Terminator Lord with MoK and Twin Lightning Claws in a 500pt mega-game of Apocalypse when it was first released, with everyone bringing 500pts or less of whatever they wanted. It was Order vs Disorder, with the forces of order having Tau with gun drones, a commander, and various other things, an old DCA, a land raider full of space marines, a squad of 10 assault marines led by a jump pack chaplain, a warhound, a baneblade, and more marines.

On the forces of disorder was a Chaos Baneblade, a Chaos Warhound, Lucius, Abaddon, various other assorted CSM, and my 500pts, which was a squad of havocs and the aforementioned lord with a squad of 5 CSM terminator champions, one with combi-melta and chainfist, one with tL bolter and chainfist, one with a heavy flamer and PW, one with combi-flamer and powerfist, and one with a PW and TL bolter.

From my PoV, it went like this: drones deep-struck and pinned my havocs. Chaos got pummeled by the baneblade and warhound. My Terminators shuffled up and got targeted by the baneblade, who unleashed several barrels of hell at them. None died. They proceeded to rip the land raider apart with the chainfist, get charged by the assault marines + Chaplain, and have the Lord single-handedly chew through them, with the Chaplain killing off his mates to draw or even out the combat. The last terminator finally fell to the Chaplain, and the Lord tore him a new one for it.

The Lord was then charged a death cult, dealt a wound, and tore the death cult a new one, before charging the Tau commander and tearing him a new one.

At game end, Order had the baneblade, warhound, gun drones and space marines left. Disorder had my Chaos Terminator Lord, who was ready to charge the approaching space marines next turn, but never got the chance.

Also recently had Eldrad in a string of badassery, killing two wolf lords in a single game, in seperate combats, both in the first rounds, after charging them. Earlier today, he beat down a Callidus Assassin and proceeded to charge and wreck a GK Dreadnought with NDF and Assault Cannon during the next turn. As a regular Farseer (using a Farseer as a counts-as Eldrad) he was pretty handy at killing Space Wolves in CC too, mainly Wolf Scouts that blew up his ride and charged the contents, though he had help from Dire Avengers there.

My HQ's haven't done anything flamboyantly fantastic, but:

My Company Command deepstrikes and scatters about an inch shy of good 'ol Marneus Calgar, minus his honor guard that my posthumous infantry squad took out, but bit it from the Chapter Master.

Push come to shove my Company Commander took Marneus down with a krak grenade from the underslung grenade launcher of his las gun...

He got a promotion after that.

That depends; were they in the heat of battle/regularly targeted? Or holed up in a chimera and ignored?

What's the point in winning the war if the buildings are not up to code? Those Men are a Credit to the Imperial Guard.

lol, yes, the great guard HQ victory over faulty wiring. Only eclipsed by the time that one CCS bravely stopped the toilet in the basement from leaking by jiggling the handle a whole bunch.

My marshal with lightning claws, plasma pistol, meltabomb, artificer armor, iron halo, and bionics killed a devilfish, 20 fire warriors, suit commander, shadowsun and retinue, suit team, and a stealth suit team with full drones. I was pretty impressed, but he manages to do stuff like that all the time.

So I had a Tech Priest. And I was facing 1500 points
of DE with my IG (not just the priest). So the battle went on and on,
Duke Sliscus was hewing apart my squads, and I ended up
with just the Tech Priest and a couple veterans.
(the DE Razorwing blew up 20 Guardsmen I put into a combined squad+ a comissar on the
first turn)

The Razorwing, which had been moving up the board a bit after killing the Guardsmen,
was barely 18'' away from the techie. I knew he wouldn't be able to do much ( thought he was screwed)
so I shot a Kabalite with a Laspistol and killed him/her. A squad of Kabalites (which had been hiding in the back)
finished off the veterans and then it was my turn. My Techpriest charged the Razowing and blew it (and himself)
up in a fiery explosion with a melta bomb

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

As for me - Lelith Hesperax solo wiping out GUO, Bloodthirster and DP in one battle.
As for what opposed me - Jain Zar herself too wiping out 3 IG platoons (PCS, 2 squads, 3 HWT), 2 CCS and 3 manticores.

And then we made them duel in a total Clint Eastwood style

I would have to say My best one was when Lelith singled handedly took out an entire Sanguinian guard w/ preist by herself. That guy was sooo pissed.

Have had a IG CC with a powerfist take out a terminator captain once that was pretty epic.

Twisted Trueborn with Blaster

My Archon has done some frightening things in his time.

Clone Field, Agoniser, Combat Drugs, Djin Blade and Soul Trap.

It all started because I was writing background fluff for my Kabal, and decided I liked the idea of my Archon sealing his predecessor in a blade as permanent punishment for opposing his will. It seemed a fitting thing for an Archon to do. Giving him the Djin blade and Agoniser earned me a few strange looks from players at my local store.

Then the Tyranid player watched him and his Bloodbride harem mulch a Tervigon in a single round of combat (two agonisers + rerollable wounds drugs) and then the Archon dive into a Termagaunt horde with 8 power weapon attacks on the charge at Str 6. He did awful, awful things to those Termagaunts. That was the very first time I've fielded my Archon, and to this day he has not died once in close combat.

My greatest moment has to have been against a local Blood Angels player though. He started by cutting the Chaplain out of a Death Company Squad, then finished off the Death Company on my opponent's turn using his Str 8 (+1 Str combat drugs) power weapon attacks. With his death star obliterated, the Archon and Retinue went on to destroy two razorbacks, three five man assault squads, a librarian that brought his strength up to 10, and a Baal predator. He survived too, his retinue was down to the Syren with her Agoniser and him with only one wound left, but damn did he make an impression on that battlefield.

Yes, but we found that t was much like a gunslinger duel - either Lelith saves everything coming, either she is slain in this situation, luck-on-luck competition.
