Finally got around to seeing what you were up to over here. The bronze, as many others have said, is freaking outstanding. I've got a 2k ish points World Eaters force that I threw together and painted up back in the Chapter Approved traitor legion list circa 2001? So, I don't have any of these shiny new gadgets you're painting up, but they really look great. And the red OSL glow is very fitting and looks really good.
Let me know if you want to see in my OOP chaos bits box for conversion fodder, unfortunately I traded away the majority of my old unused models.
Keep it up man, looks great. Give us a group shot of everything you've got done all together!
Looks really top notch Nash, what do you have planned for his base?

JWMarines: Thank you Painting this colour scheme is starting to grate on me a bit as I use the same colour scheme on my WHFB Chaos as well. I love the look so I'll keep at it (luckily I have some Skullcrushers and Dragon Ogres to liven it up with greens and reds ) I'm glad you like the glows as well I was never 100% sold on them but the more I look at them the moer I like it. Shoot me a PM with a list of what bitz you've got and I'll attempt a group photo
lennymaybe: I'd like to hope so, it's taking a while to get it painted
Knightley: Cheers mate I hadn't really thought about it. I was just going to do texture paint and some grass but looking at it it would be a shame to waste the space thats one there. Got any ideas I could use?
That being said if anyone has any ideas for the base let me know
No pictures today. I only cut the next wing out and undercoated it and no body wants pictures of that I also spent this evening writing the eulogy for my Grandads funeal on Monday so I havn't really felt like painting properly. However I will post pics tomorrow of the work I've done
Regarding the base a common trend is to use an busted out rhino mounted on the base. I personally have used the aegis defense line barricades to break up the space

Well I can gladly say the Heldrake is finally taking shape. Finshed off his right arm/wing and stuck it to him so he now looks alot closer to be completed.
I've got his read legs ready for work next but they shouldn't take long. Aldo regarding the bade I was thinking of just doing it epty (txture paint and static grass) I didn't really have a lot of good bits to put on his base in my Space Marine bitz box. Also I think having a complex base might distrac from the model itself but I doubt it as this thing is huge
Heldrake:
Heldrake rear legs:
I won't be able to do any painting till Tuesday afternoon/evening as I will be off up the country for my Grandads funeral and won't be back till Tuesday. But I'm sure you guys can wait till then right?...right?
JWMarines: For the brass it's a base of Warplock Bronze then drybrushed with Auric Armour Gold. The silver is based with Leadbelcher, washed with Nuln Oil then edge-highlighted with Ironbreaker.
The Heldrake is finished finally! I wasn't too happy witht the head but it might just be me. The blog will change a bit to focusing on WHFB Brazen Legion Warriors of Chaos and then back to 40K etc
I'll post some pics of the Fantasy version in a few days. Anyways here is the Heldrake:

Very nice mate, what are you using to take your pics?
IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
Knightley: A phone. That is why the picture quality is average - poor I will use my girlfriends expensive camera for the army shot
I had my first game with these guys today. A 1000pt game against Space Marines. Here is the force lists for both sides (I don't remember everything about his army list equipment wise):
Space Marines:
HQ: - Commander with Artificer Armour, Jump Pack and Lightning Claw
Elite: - Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs, A Storm Shield, Melta Bombs
- Dreadnought with Power Fist, Twin-Linked Lascannon, Storm Bolter
- Dreadnought with Power Fist, Twin-Linked Lascannon, Storm Bolter
Troops: - 5 man Combat Squad (Includes Sgt)
- 10 man Tactical Squad (Includes Sgt), Lightning Claw, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher (Was split in to 2 units of 5 when the game started)
Chaos Space Marines:
HQ: - Chaos Lord with Terminator Armour, Combi Bolter, Power Weapon
Troops: - 10 man Chaos Marine Unit (Includes Sgt), Bolters, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol
- 10 man Chaos Marine Unit (Includes Sgt), Bolt Pistols, Close Combat Weapons, Power Fist, Plasma Pistol
Fast Attack: - 5 man Warp Talon Unit (Includes Sgt)
- Heldrake with Bale Flamer
Heavy Support: - Forgefiend with 2 Hades Autocannons (each one is 36" strenght 8 AP4 Heavy 4 Pinning)
Pretty good game. I won which pleased me though I fear my Daemon Engines have become Public Enemy Number 1 as the Heldrake arrived turn 2 and laid waste to a 5 man squad instantly on turn 3. The Terminator Lord killed about 4-6 Space Marines, 2 of which were the Sgts so he got to roll on the boon table and got 2 rules that were less than helpful to him (Hatred and Crusader). The Unit of the match had to be the Forgefiend. Survived all game. Turn 1 he removed the Storm Bolter and Power Fist off a Dreadnought and 2 Hull Points. He was immobilised and took a Hull Points worth of damaged from the Dreadnought prior to his attack but recovered it due to "It Will Not Die!" (though was still immobilised). Survived a Melta-Bomb attack, suffered another Hull Points of damage and the loss of a Hades Autocannon from the Space Marines Captains Melta Bomb (was part of the Vanguard Unit). He recovered the Hull Point damage from that as well. When the Vangurads had charged him he killed 2 with Overwatch. He killed the Captain in close combat and then proceeded to kill off both Dreadnoughts with his Autocannon. I decided to write just a small story from the Space Marine view to do with the Forgefiend seeing how badass he was I think his Marines were the Tigers Argent. Enjoy, it's my first attempt at writing something like this.
Spoiler:
Brother Captain Telius surveyed the battlefield with his Vanguard Veterans. The traitors were holding up in the ruins of a small outpost they had overrun not long ago. On the eastern side of the ruins the traitors charged forward with the Chaos Lord urging them on, all of them eager to spill blood in their Dark Gods names. On the Western side other traitors had taken refuge behind a wall and peppered the Space Marine battle lines with bolter rounds. The two Dreadnoughts, Veneratred Brother Darius and Venerated Brother Carr were ordered forward to crush the resistance. Darrius sent to the east and Carr the west.
"This will be over quickly Captain. The scum have no hope against our Venerated Brothers"
The Vanguards words had read Telius' mind. Suddenly his helmet was filled with Vox chatter.
"Unidentified vehicle on the western front! Repeat Unidentified vehicle on western front!"
A loud, echoed mechanical growl came from the distance. Telius allowed his helmet to zoom in to get a look at this vehicle. His eyes were greeted with the sight of a massive mechanical beast lumbering forward towards the Space Marines battle line. He recognised it as a Forgefiend from the briefing the Chapter Master had given them. He issued an order to Venerable Brother Carr.
"Forgefiend sighted on the west, 11o'clock of your position. Engage at range with the Lascannons. Use extreme prejudice."
"By your command Brother Captain. Death to the heretic."
The Lascannon flashed as it was fired. It burned a hole straight through the Forgefiend and immobilsed it, rooting it to the spot. The beast howled with rage and retaliated with its own weapons. The Autocannons whined as they began to spin, then roared as they unleased a salvo upon the Dreadnought completely removing the left arm rendering the Dreadnought Power Fist-less.
"Brothers! We have to save Brother Carr! At the rate it's firing we will lose a resource of the Chapter. Activate Jump Packs and engage the beast with Melta Bombs in close quaters. We should be safe that close. FOR THE EMPEROR!"
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" replied his Veterans. All six of them darted towards the Forgefiend, with Brother Nixx of the Veterans at the front protecting his Brothers with his storm shield.
"READY MELTA BOMBS!" shouted Telious as he and Revran primed the bombs.
As they approached, the Forgefiend tracked them with its autocannons. As they closed in the Autocannons whined and roared once more. Brother Nixx and another Veteran disappeared in a red spray, the Storm Shield unable to repel the attack.
ENGAGE THE BOMBS!" shouted Telious "AVENGE OUR BROTHERS"
Revran threw his Melta Bomb at the beast but it didn't go off. The machine spirit refused to act as it should of. Captain Telious threw his own Melta Bomb which exploded upon contact with the Forgefiend, rendering one of the Autocannons useless as it melted into molten slag.
The beast roared with fury and rage, recoiling from the attack.
While it was distracted the Captain and his remaing three Veterans recovered the dud Melta Bomb hoping to re-use it.
A strange crackling scream echoed through their helmets as Warp Talons screamed past them to protect the Forgefiend.
"More heretics for the slaughter! Show them what the servants of the Emperor are capable of!"
The 2 sides charged at each other. Though the veterans were skilled close combat users, they were unprepared for the speed and savagry of the Warp Talons. The fight was short and bloody. Only the Captain remained along with 4 of the Warp Talons. They may have been quick but they were no match for a Space Marine Captain. Using his centuries expertise he dispatched the remaining Warp Talons while avoiding their blood soaked Lightning Claws.
He turned to face the Forgefiend. To his amazment the Forgefiend had repaired the damged to its body, the metal refusing its self together to protect the innards.
"Vile Contraption! I will send you packing back to your Dark Gods and the scrap heap where you belong!"
He lunged and slashed and hacked at the beasts front with his lightning claw but to no avail. He couldn't penertrate the armour. His vision went black and a pain seared across his waist. That was the last thing he knew before being ripped in two as the Forgefiend clamped its jaws over him. It roared with triumph and felled Brother Carr with it's remaining Autocannon.
Venerable Brother Darrius crushed the Aspiring Champions head in his Power Fist. The traitors were no match for him. His visionary sensors picked up an explosion coming from the west. He mobilised to investigate. As he approached he saw Venerable Brother Carrs Dreadnough shell in ruins, it's occupant splashed to the four winds. His vox speakers bellowed a roar of rightous anger as he fired the lascannon towards the Forgefiend. The shot went wide as he lumbered forward to deliver the Emperors wrath.
The Forgefiend faced the new Dreadnought as it approached. Once again the familiar whine and roar was heard from the remaining Autocannon. A direct hit caused Brother Darrius' reactor to explode removing the Dreadnought from existance.
With the death of the Captain, his Vanguard and both Dreadnoughts the remaing Space Marines were quickly overrun and dispatched. Sacrafices were offered to the Dark Gods and the Chaos Lord was rewarded for his attack. The Forgefiend was subdued and placed into secure storage for repairs, to get it ready for the next battle.
Hope you guys enjoyed it. Comments and feedback welcomed

Awesome story following a pretty decisive battle it seems

Knightley: It was pretty decisive about turn 3-4. I'm playing him again but he will be using Grey Knights so no doubt I'll be beaten
NOTE: THIS POST WILL BE PIC HEAVY AND THESE WERE PAINTED ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO!
From this point on for a while this blog is now Fantasy based. Where are you going? Please come back... I know Fantasy isn't to everyones taste and I will be jumping between 40K and Fantasy so don't worry. I have a decent sized Warrior of Chaos army with the same colours and name as my 40k chaos. I actually got the colour scheme for my Chaos Marines from my Fantasy army. This post will show what my Lords and Heroes look like. Hope you enjoy
Heroes:
Hero "A" This guy is just a regualr champion from a unit that I painted to have a fire cloak because I wanted to try OSL. I was pretty pleased with it.
Khorne Hero:
Sorcerer:
Lords:
Lord "A" I rescued this guy from a friend who had removed the axe where the shield now is. He was in a poor state but I did my best to convert him and give a second chance.
Sorcerer Lord: Made by using the spare Manticore Sorcerer bitz and a set of Warrior legs I had cut from the waist. I'm very please with him. He also has an epic cape
Khorne Lord on Juggernaut: Won this guy in an auction several years ago at my FLGS. I was going to turn him into a Chaos Lord for 40k but I started Fantasy so I left him as he was.
Manticore Lord:
In a few days I'll post my Core units and then Special and Rare.
Hope you enjoyed looking. Comments and feedback welcomed
Looking very tasty, quick question with the bottom two pics, whats that model?
IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
Ironically while the fantasy got me to post, gotta toss out uber-props on the daemon engines, lovely brass + OSL going on, quite inspiring stuff if I'm honest
I liek the helldrake and the forgefiend, but I didn't see any of the fleshtone you discussed putting on them. Do you have different shots of them to show it off?

Knightley: It's the Lord that rides the Manticore. I made removable incase he dies mid-game
Boss Salvage: Hurray indeed Hope you stick around for everything
Zambro: Thanks People at my FLGS like him. Though he doesn't fint in a unit too well... I'll do my best to inspire, so stick around
xXWeaponPrimeXx: Thanks Yeah the fleshtones are difficult to spot as I made them really dark to get a grimy, bruised look. You can see the Heldrake flesh on page 4 in some of the few WIP pics. Hope you stick around
Thank for all the kind words guys. Keeps me motivated Today is a bit of a treat for you all as it's a mix of Fantasy and 40k. (Mainly fantasy ) Also I tried using the family camera instead of my phone, also had it on Macro setting but I think I maybe should have used Super Macro... So we shall see how that turns out If people could let me know which is better that would be great We will start off with Core choices:
CORE:
Warriors with Shields:
Warriors with Additional Hand Weapons:
Chaos Warhounds:
Marauder Horsemen:
SPECIAL:
Chaos Knights:
Chaos Knights with Lances:
RARE:
Hellcannon:
Building the Hellcannon was a total nightmare. It was finecast and everything was warped and bent etc. Rubbish cast.
Here comes the 40k army shot. These were taken by my girlfriends super expensive camera. (she brought it with her the other day so don't get used to this quality )
40k Brazen Legion 1000pt Army shots:
So yeah sorry it was a long post. I thought about posting pics of my Gorebeast Chariot that needs undercoating but I'll save it for next time

I've been beavering away at a Gorbeast Chariot. The actual Chariot is done, I just need to do the Gorebeast and the pleb that's along for the ride Updates may be slow as I just bought Bioshock Infinte, Dishonoured and Fallout 3 Game of the year edition. But I will still work on models so don't worry
GiraffeX: Thanks mate I'm really proud of him as well, one of my favourite models I've ever done. Hope you stick around
Well today I managed to finish my Gorebeast Chariot and Bioshock: Infinite. It was good fun to paint and I tried my hand at properly painting human coloured flesh with out just doing Tallarn Flesh washed with Ogryn (I actually used layers!!)
Gorebeast Chariot:
Gorebeast:
Attempt at layered flesh:
Up next are three Skullcrushers starting with the unit champion.
The chariot is looking really nice and khornate, the flesh is looking really good. I've just started to try out different methods of painting flesh as well, its not something you get much of to paint with marines.
I think I'd s#1t a brick if that thing came charging at me. Very nice work.

GiraffeX: It doesn't hurt to stockpile skulls for our bloody god
xXWeaponPrimeXx: I think most people would if a huge monster clad in armour came charging at them
lennymaybe: Thanks nice to see your back
San76: Thanks mate, glad to have you on board. Your work is amazing The brass is done with a absecoat of Warplock Bronze then drybryshed with Auric Armour Gold
No proper update. Alas I have been hypnotised by Fallout 3 and her DLC But rest assure that I am actually working on a Skullcrusher. There will be pictures tomorrow don't you worry
Ok so I din't get the pictures up as I said I would. I lost the urge to paint and have been only been doing little bits to the Skullcrusher.
Fallout 3 also fell out of favour today as I got annoyed with the new opponents the DLC installs. So now painting is back in This is the Skullcrusher unit champion and is still WIP
Skullcrusher Unit Champion WIP:
Still need to do the shoulder guards and his head.
I would leave him like that, and take a skeleton head and model some greenstuff flames coming off of it.

xXWeaponPrimeXx: I read your post a few days and thought it was a brilliant idea! I went rummaging around for a good skull but alas I don't have any :( But I don't want to waste the idea so what I will do, is use it on a 40k Chaos Lord. Probably the push together Aspiring Champion, and get me some good skulls to use.
The champion is finished and his commrades are... in bits I will be spraying them up tomorrow and I'll post some WIP of them. Progress may be slow as I will be doing them at the same time instead of individually so please bear with me on that one
Skullcrusher Champion:
Also can people tell me their game experiances of using Possessed in 40k. I really want a 10 man squad in a Rhino but I want to know how good they have been for people before I consider putting them in my list.
