Thanks Jamie Shred, the biggest difference beside the finish the enamels leave is the control you have. Enamels and especially oils dry really slow.
You apply the paint and than you can easily manipulate it, take away or add at will. Acrylic paint dries instantly compare to oil paints.

@feltmonkey if anyone ever asks I would wholeheartedly recommend the Forgeworld Gulliman over the GW one any day of the week. Better proportions and far, far easier to paint!

Ah so it helps wet blending on a model. Why would you use some enamels and some oils, is it due to availability of colours or the different textures? I mainly use enamel primer so if that's anything to go by I would guess it might dry smoother than oil?

That's coming along really nice monkeytroll.
I made a start on the bases tonight, pretty much everything base coated and washed, just need to side what to do with the arches on the salamanders base, I'm thinking gold.

Enamels, the ones I use, are still different to oils. The rust enamels are thin with a specific mat finish which dry relatively fast. Oils are thick paint that you need to thin them for the desired effect
and take several hours, depending on dilution, or even days to dry. Yes, you are correct, oils for blending, but they have many other uses.

Looking good, everyone! I'll get an update to the OP done later today if I can.
In the mean time, just wanted to put out the idea of going for an open round (or at least a very loose theme) for the next month, as I'm sure the current Coronavirus/lockdown situation is going to make it tricky for some folks to get hold of minis/paints to fit something specific and I don't want to have anyone left out if we can avoid it? Any thoughts on that, or other suggestions?
Hope everyone's keeping well in these undeniably hard times.

Cheers Modock.
Yeah I'm happy with an open round or pile of shame, should have some new fallout minis coming this week but have a massive pile of shame to dig into if not.

Maybe worth considering pushing the model limit up to 10 too, obviously people wouldn't have to do 10 models but if they have the time due to the current situation they could.

Pile of Shame it will be then. Basically an open round, but with a bonus positive spin! Great idea to lift the mini limit as well, I'm sure there'll be a couple of industrious folks out there ready to drop a full unit/squad/army on us in a month!

I’ve got some RTB01 marines that were stripped and rebuilt, and some RT era vets and HQ, some have been stripped, others never painted.
If I wanted to go WAY deep, I’ve got some Ral Partha and Grenadier D&D minis which are back form the days minis were made from lead.

Marathon update session done, I managed to forget until now that the Marine month is always a super-busy one! At least I've got most of the proofs in before the final rush. Some cracking entries now I've taken the time to look properly, and many more coming along very nicely. As always, shout if I missed you. Need to start thinking about my own entry, off the top of my head this is the first March round that I've not had a Marine to hand immediately. Been quite a while since I last painted one, I seem to have done nothing but Star Wars and DC stuff since about October, so it'll be fun going back to my GW roots and throwing something together.

I think I'm pretty much finished with my entry but left undecided if I should try a lightning effect on the hammer?
I think I'm gonna avoid as I feel I would need to do OSL to match and I haven't accounted for that in my lighting.

PS: Any association with Deadpool is purely coincidental as this is a Space Marine Tech Marine and they wear red armor.

There seems to be heresy associated with the techmarine's arms?
Im about to finish the higlights and bases so shouldnt be too much longer.
