That sucks about the storm eagle >.< I'm glad I didn't shell out for one when I was thinking about it. .... I thought the Hydra Flakk tank was bad enough.

Hopefully they recast the originals and fix the damn thing.

Thanks nerdfest!

Yeah, though it's probably likely the replacement will have the same issue. It seems like everyone that's gotten the kit has the same problems so probably not so much issues with the mold but the way the kit was designed.

Thanks logg_frogg! If anything, I think the chinese recasters would be able to do a better job than FW on this one

Mostly, on my phone.

Interestingly, FW asked if I would mind taking pictures of the parts and then sending them to them so they could put them up and use for quality control purposes. The Storm Eagle that they had in stock and were going to send me then didn't pass QC on 3 components so they're casting up a fresh batch. Having said that, I've waited a month for said batch...

I suspect that the problem stems from inexperienced casters sliding the trays into racks carelessly as they're curing. A bump as it slides in could cause the kinds of offsets people have reported.

... Apologies, I kinda threadjacked you there!

inmygravenimage - Good luck with the replacement SE. If what you're saying is true, the guy doing the casting on the SE must have been a total idiot given the amount of complaints I've seen about the model. I personally wouldn't put together another one if someone paid me

Crypto - Thanks!

Another quick update tonight as I just finished off the Baal Predator. This is the model I built back in 2010 so it's been 2 years in the making! Actually it's been just sitting in a box after I had built and magnetized everything until a few weeks ago. End result is a Baal Pred with all the different options magnetized:

Beautiful Baal my friend! that looks excellent (as per usual) the weathering is really good and the dust along the bottom edge just adds that little bit of complimentary shading that makes the red pop a bit more! love the whole thing really :-)

So I just found this for the first time with the help of google from a mention of your name in the painting and modeling forum. Needless to say I am exceptionally glad I found it. It's been a real treat to see all of your phenomenal work. This entire blog just oozes skill and talent, not to mention how helpful you are with airbrushing pointers. Anyways my compliments Sir. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this from now on and glad you got your hands on those Space Hulk models you wanted.

Nice pred, if that's not a redundant comment - I like that your work isn't factory fresh per se.
Incidentally, got a recast storm eagle. Much better, not even any warping to speak of.

NICE! Eager to get around to my one of those bad boys... any tips on the magnetization? I've not done it before but a good idea on this model.

Also wanted to ask about your process for the red on your tanks. Do you prime with your red spray then just shade with 50:50 red/black (no highlights)?

Thanks guys! Apologies for the lack of updates for the last few months. Been too busy with school, work and personal life stuff to paint. Might be awhile before I pick up a brush again since things will only get busier for me in the new year but will be back one day to revive my BA army

Time to revive this thread! Been over a year since I've touched my BA army and I've finally had time to get back into painting. Just finished the last of my courses and submitted my thesis for my masters and now with the holidays and work vacation, I'm deciding to put some time back into painting. First up is a land raider crusader/redeemer I had half finished in my display case since the last time I was painting. Last week I broke out the airbrush, dusted off the paints and took things for a spin again. Took me awhile to get back into the grove of painting as I had forgotten some of my processes for painting this army - I actually had to look back through this thread to jog my memory. Anyway, here's my completed magnetized land raider crusader/redeemer:

Got some sniper scouts, scout on bike and land speeder storm in the works. More to come!

I can't recall if you've mentioned it before, but do you pre-shade the red or spray a darker tone afterwards? Specifically looking around all the cracks and crevasses you've made darker.
