It looks like (according to their FAQ thing) you dont need a Codex to play.. Does this mean each faction has gone Vanilla for Killteam?

It means everyone's rules (including their faction-specific stratagems) are in the core book. It doesn't seem like there'll be chapter tactics, if that's what you mean.

I think he was referring to chapter tactics and what not, and yes - everyone has gone vanilla.
But the rules are all in fact included in the core rules

I can see GW doing many rule expansions in the future. Maybe things like jump troops, light vehicle, etc. will be added for all races in subsequent books. If they really want to do a tight ruleset this time I totally see the advantages, instead of throwing everything at once in the first book.

There has never been an instance in GW's history where a "tight ruleset" was their objective. These 40k skirmish games have been very light on solid mechanics, SW:A was painful to play in most instances IMO.

Well feth that then.
If GW are going to insist that we pay twice what most others pay, then I'll continue to insist on giving them $0 instead.
Yeah, it's crazy.
GP => Au$ = $142
CAD => Au$ = $163
USD => Au$ = $174
But expected actual Australian price? $225? Can we all go holidaying to the UK, just to grab some sets?

Yes there has, Shadespire
It is no coincidence they announced that they were bringing in the Shadespire designers very prominently when they first presented this either.

I could be mistaken, but I think the initial shipping to Aus is part of the problem. Not the shipping across the country, but the container shipping across the ocean. Everything I've heard about points to stupid international shipping costs for you guys.

If I had to guess, I'd say it won't be in Kill Team. The pinning mechanic is one of the few really stupid rules in Necromunda and the fact someone at GW figured it should be kept for Shadow War Armageddon (when they evidently were willing to adjust at least a few things like ammo rolls) does not inspire confidence, but Kill Team appears to be designed from the ground up. It doesn't make sense to import that specific rule when everything else is more along the lines of 8th ed/ AoS.
Would be damn funny though if it did end up being in Kill Team.

While we'll have to see how everything is arranged on sprue, I'd say it looks promising so far. I thought there were plenty of intact building tiles in those pictures. Only has to translate into getting enough of those per box.
It's really nice terrain. I hope GW gets that part right.

Are Tyranid Warriors the beefiest unit revealed so far?
Edit: I said Tyranid, see? Not Necrons! I swear! Never edited it!
Alternately: Aren't they the same thing?
Option 3: I should have edited it to say Kabalite, just to see the reactions.

No, but Tyranid Warrriors are.
While they're the smallest synapse creature available and it makes sense they're there, it's a bit sad that we didn't get Ogryns, then.
At least the Lictor making it in gives me hope we may see Fayled Ones for Necrons. Here's hoping for Monday!

Terrifying synapse beasts, Warriors are monstrous in Kill Team, boasting deadly bio-morphs, providing Synapse support for lesser creatures and disrupting enemy psykers. Psykers, eh? Have we seen anything about those yet?

We've already seen, haven't we, the skill tree for a specialist gunner? That's why it's a different unit to standard guardsman.

I would hope some sort of suppression fire mechanic is in there. It's the glaring omission from 40k.

Warlocks do come as both units and single models. They are also one of the weediest characters in all of 40K with 2 Wounds.

Changes are the minis in that expansion are mono-pose and will all have set weapons, the very opposite of INQ28
No Inq28 player worth their salt is going to let the fact that a mini is monopose stop them from converting it. I think over half the minis in the new warband I’m currently working on are based on monopose minis

I don't understand this idea that only if a miniature has options you can convert it. Quite the contrary, when one miniature has just one option then you are absolutely free to do whatever you want with it, because theres no confusion.
"This is my X. He can only use a Power Axe. Oh yeah I gave him a shield and a giant power-lance with a standard because he comes from a medieval world, but it doesn't really matter"
And you aren't punished for picking the option that you like more visually but is worse in rules.

I am too much of a simulationist to be comfortable with that, especially as the game actually has rules for lances and shields. It will be confusing for opponents as well. (I really preferred the time when the game just had power weapons that you could model however you liked without an issue.)
