Special weapons squads contain guardsmen though. They use the same statline and name, so the rank itself is new. This is much more similar than Strike squads and Purifiers, who share the same kit, but have different rules. So I fully expect both those two units to be represented for Grey Knights.
Funny enough Only War had a 'weapon specialist' class that worked as your bog standard infantryman or the bloke in your infantry squad that gets a special weapon.
Seems to me that's the guy this special weapons gunner repreaents: nominally just a regular member of the squad the infantry are also from, but got handed a shiny weapon and a pamphlet labeled 'how to care for your meltagun' and everybody's giving the cold shoulder to because they think he's a suck-up.

I'm just hoping that we'll get an Inquisition Kill Team boxed set sometime next year along with a codex for Imperial Agents (or whatever catch all you want to use for inquisition branches and assassins, etc).
All the customization options and opportunities for "flair" on Inquisitors are just too juicy to miss out on Kill Team :(

Still very disappointed that a pure cadian player basically only has 1 unit to pick (2 but I'm not counting the 2nd one as it's basically number 1 but with options). I mean come on! I was looking forward to charging a dumb Orgyn in while my catachan flag dude stabs a guy with his flag pole! While my ratlings take pot shots... A team of pure mutants would have been fun. Haha, a psyker blowing himself up would also have been funny. I'm just seeing less and less options every update which isn't a great sign for something to get me hooked to wait for expansions.

KT seems like an awesome use for all the amazing INQ28 projects kicking around ... with the exception of it not looking like there's a great fit yet for a lot of the more varied warbands I've seen. 1-6 samey choices make the whole Grimdark Carnival shtick a little harder to pull off (but I have faith that the Blanchicites will find a way).

Only three options for Guard is a bit of a let down. No Veterans? Maybe you can upgrade Guardsman for X points to get the additional point of BS? Also Special Weapon Gunners better not mean that Scions can't take special weapons (though there was a picture from an earlier article of a Scion with a Meltagun), or my idea of an Inquisition Storm Trooper force goes out the window.
I'm guessing the Rogue Trader list will hold over those waiting for a standard Inquisition list. It looks like it will have a large amount of choices.

Tbf most warbands consist of a few guys with skitarii ranger rifles, a plague lord conversion and an inquisitor. I’m really looking forward to this and don’t think there’ll be any problems. Especially once rogue trader drops.

We haven't seen veterans from any of the lists so far. I think that you get veterans by actually using them and achieving veteran status through experience.

Your eyes do not deceive you, as there isn't upon release, however, GW teased an expansion named Kill Team -Rogue Trader back in March. It is supposedly coming out this year in the Oct-Dec timeframe. Check out this thread:

I wonder how elite the Militarum Tempestus are going to be in comparison to guardsman. I would probably have to take less in a full team, I’m sure. But what are we talking, 6, 7, 8 Scions on a team compared to ten guardsman?

They have had more flavour though.
The AM article struck me as... cagey. Like they couldn't say more without revealing more of the inner workings of the game than they'd like to. Dunno why I get that impression, but it would explain the greater lack of detail than even previous articles.

Can't wait to see the AUD$230 price on pre-order day.
Bad news I'm afraid. It is the same price as Alarielle in both the UK and Europe so it will be AUD$225.
This is also sad. I guess I will just get the starting book, and then some army-specific boxes (I don't collect Skitarii or Genestealer Cults, but if it was cheap enough, I would have started there still, painted the armies for friends to use)
ritualnet wrote:interesting that there's a weapon placement in the Eldar side. I wonder if Tau will get that turret thing that comes with their basic infantry?
Eldar weapon platforms were part of the SW:A teams, so they may be allowed this time too - just hopefully not at the expense of other aspects. Basically, it's the eldar addition to the guardian squad, similar to tac marines taking a special or heavy weapon.

Yeah, they're doing well in telling us what units we can take, but without knowing what the point values for things will be, or what upgrades will cost, all we can do are set the bits aside for now.
I'm just going to get the starter box and work with the GSC and Admech bits that they have there to make a squad.

During one of my impusive Ebay spending sprees I had been sent the wrong Ork Boy lot by mistake and ended up with 24 Boyz on 32mm. I had set them aside to see if they were usable, or if all Orkz would make it to 32mm bases eventually, but now I think theyve just become my new Ork Kill team!
At least until we know what size bases to use standard. The other 220+ orkz I have are on 25mm bases.
Ive already looked into converters.

Very good point, but it appears the RT list will at least have some variation in the types of characters you can use. They look to have the RT (who's stats could likely be used as an Interrogator type character), an Admech type character, a medicae, an officer, and some guard types. Which are the very least would give you more options than what's available (for stat lines) in the lists shown so far.
Also I feel for you folks in Australia and NZ, I thought the mark up in the U.S. and Canada was bad on this stuff....
