What happened to that? Have you already started to forget things already? After a certain point in life, I'd heard carrying around a notepad can came in handy...

Hope you had a great day yesterday, happy BD!

Yes... 39. That's the ticket! Thanks guys & gals.

No, haven't forgotten, My schedule just opened up so I'll be very busy the next few evenings getting the build of my part finished. It'll be posted on the 1st along with the modified rule set. The parameters of the diorama will be the biggest physical restriction. However the most challenging part... by far... will be in your lap to decide. I suspect this comp will be decided at the planning stage, assuming that most folks can execute their plan adequately. I would recommend not spending too much time thinking about what you want to do until you see the diorama and read the challenge.

I can't keep my mind open for very much longer, starting to imagine things like Graven selling his SOB, or WM becoming a MOD or Beiber getting hired to play Luke Skywalkers son in the next Starwars movie.. can't tell what's real anymore.. Kate Beckinsale keeps callin me......moonpie plays spacewolfs.. that can't be right!

Hi guys, I'm here. Been insanely busy at work and at home with no hobby time at all (or internet time frankly). Sorry for dropping the ball on the competition.

If folks are still interested, I'd be delighted to still have the comp., but I'm going to take myself out of it so it's simpler and not dependent on my getting anything done. It's just safer that way at the moment. There will still be prizes, never fear.

I will have some time over the next week to sort things out, talk with judges & in general... get the competition up and running. I'll come up with a new theme and we'll see if we have a competition, shall we?

Best,
Gits

Another Mantis Maker comp sounds good. Hopefully I'll have the time/inclination (who am I kidding, I'm a sucker for comps) to get in on it.

Hi guys, yes I'm alive.

I effectively have had no internet connectivity from home for well over a month. That will be fixed in-spades (10x faster than my old connection... when it was working) tomorrow afternoon, but I will be losing my e-mail address. (I'm staying with the same provider, but they aren't hosting e-mails anymore.) Those of you who know me well enough to have my personal e-mail can PM me and I'll give you my new one... probably just a g-mail or Hotmail account.

I know you guys are sick of hearing apologies and excuses so I won't make them. I'm just not ready to come back yet. I don't know why, but I hit the wall this summer and just cant get enthused about gaming or hobbying at all. I know I'll be back, I just don't know when. I usually take a break from painting in the summer... but this year I've taken a break from everything gaming related... painting, playing & even Dakka which I love. The passion just isn't there at the moment. I think there are some issues I need to resolve in my mundane life before I can get back the mental and creative space needed for hobby-related work. Don't worry, these aren't "ISSUES" issues... just normal issues that are preying on my psyche and need to be dealt with before I can move on (and they're things that can't be knocked out in a weekend). I've also been driving myself like a madman for nearly 4 1/2 years now... than may be coming home to roost a bit too.

I just wanted to let you guys know I was OK. I miss you a lot... along with the conversations with friends and creative exchanges that I've come to depend on. I think of you fondly and often, but I know that The Good Ship Dakka will keep running straight and true now that whalemusic360's at the helm. I am looking forward to seeing what all my friends have been up to while I've been away.

Take care, be safe & have fun!

You can't force this sort of thing. Like any hobby, it's very much a "have to be in the right mood" sort of thing.

Come back when you're ready, we'll be waiting... patiently...

...1000 green bottles, sitting on the wall...

I even finished my tank. If that could tempt you back to DDakka at least.

Nothing to excuse for, the hobby can wait, gaming can wait, and so can we.

It's good enough to hear you are OK, and just taking your time. Maybe you should get yourself a hobby?

Take care, charge up, and we'll see you then.

It's understandable and I know how you feel.

Seventh sort of marked a point where I just.... stopped.

Just give it time as required till you feel it again. (I'm hoping the Dark Eldar book will do it for me)

That's EXACTLY what happend to me Ovion. I don't clearly understand why, as I know 7th was a significant improvement over 6th. It was just... too much, too quickly. Like being stabbed in the back (which we're all used to) but then adding that twist of the knife on top of it. Somehow it severed my connection to 40k... at least in the short term. Add a pile of time and money consuming mundane concerns that really need to be addressed and it became very easy to just step away completely.

On a positive note, I'm writing you from my brand new home computer with access to (comparatively) lightening fast WiFi. So at least that hurdle has been successfully negotiated.
