As for other updates....I've been slack and done very little modelling or painting over the last few of weeks. I've starting building some more terrain...walkways and some storage tanks. Now I need to know will PVA glue stick thin cardboard to metal and or plasticard? If not does anyone have any suggestions?
It depends on if the pieces will see a lot of abuse, meaning is the area exposed to people touching it or load bearing? If either are the case you should use super glue or liquid nails. In my experience PVA is good for holding something in place that is either light like flocking or holding down the basing material until it is painted. To answer your question yes PVA will hold to pretty much anything, but in my opinion not that well. My vote is to nix the PVA!
Can't wait to see more of your terrain.

madmartykmf - Thank you. The exact advice I needed. I shall go get myself a bucket of thin superglue. I doubt they parts will get touched that much but probably more than I expect and fixing terrain is a bugger. The other bugger of the terrrain I'm building is how many rivets I think they will need...
Mordoskul - Thank you. That's the spirit, I like the fact you said much better than I could paint at the moment.
It shows you intend on improving. Keep on practising.

I guess Phase Two has started....though its going slowly. In fact all hobby activity, apart from reading, has been going very slowly for the last month or so. I think I am suffering from SAD . Dark when i get up, pretty much dark when I get to work and pitch black when I leave work (stupid winter)!
Maybe posting a very WIP shot may improve my lethargicness. This chap is going to be my dog handler....I decided since my gang have a Zombie prodder they would need a dog handler too. I need to get my hands on a Dark Eldar agoniser as the metal whip that comes with the base model (Squeak Gnawtooth) is just too heavy and would break off with his first down result.
So what do you guys think of the two remaining rats on his shoulder...stay or go?
Grim Bad'Un - Thanks. I've got a game this afternoon. My cawdor were doing well until the last game, where two of my gangers died (It was the hoard scenario in pitch black three gangers took on his whole gang pretty much for the first 4 turns doing so well....then combat and two were killed by the same chick). So today is damage limitation...make some money and run away.
Right I am off out....day light
Peter
ps for anyone who asked questions in my gallery I am sorry I wasn't being rude just a little ignorant to their existence. I shall go through it and reply asap.

A little wordy update today. I've done a bit GS work on the dog handler every night this week, even if its been as little as 10 to 15 minutes. Happliy this is making me feel somewhat less SAD. I decided to keep the last two rats on his shoulders (though I've had to re sculpt the snout on the one near his ear, after a little accident with the barrel of the dremmel filing it flat )
I've also decided that I'm going to use the metal whip that came with the model, with some adjustments to make it lighter and 40kified (I really cannot justify buying a box of Dark Eldar at the moment for one part).
I'll hopefully have finished modelling him at the weekend and I'll start painting him next week
Fasterthanlight and nathanie1 - Thanks for the encouragement.

Ok I think he is ready for an undercoat now.
Looking at the pics I have to say that the GS looks a little rough in places but I'm hoping not to notice once its painted.
Talk about 28mm heroic scale...the stub gun (or whatever grots use) looks enormous, but I like it. Do I need to increase the size of the hole in the barrel?
The giant pet rat will give you an idea as to the route I'm going with the scavvy dogs . Its 40k of course random vermin would get bionics! Another way I like to look at it is the animals are test runs for some crazy doc.

I can't see which bit of GS you reckon is rough - it all looks ace to me! I think it might be a little bit easier to see all the metal detail if you could get a shot of him when he's primed though

weetyskemian44 - Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing him painted too. Mainly because I've never painted a whip before, never mind an electro whip!
Scrazza - Cheers
Commander Cain - Thanks
Chibi Bodge-Battle - lol, thats a good point. Ha ha I like the idea of having a really powerful gun that can only hold one shell. Hmmm I now fancy playing a bit of Inquisitor. I decided to keep the rats, especially the one near his ear...it talks to him or at least that's what he thinks.
Scarper - Oh the GS... I was fishing for compliments. No I'm kidding. Well actually not exactly since I think that is pretty much the whole point of having a painting and modelling blog? On a less existential note I was referring to the robe just above the patch near his right arm. I think it could just be the contrast between the gs and metal that was bugging me. As for my bits box it... I think it’s time you meet her... gratuitous bits box shot
Now Scarper I'm in (a small amount of) bother because of you and I don't even have a picture to show for it. Let me set the scene... its minus 4oC in Preston and the kitchen was nice and warm from dinner. For some reason, and for the life of me I cannot work out why, Abigail really didn't appreciate me using the kitchen to undercoat the model. Her main issue was the smell, not the paint because I might be stupid but not that stupid. Anyway next time I'll just have to wait until she is out...like I normally would, when I do smelly things (modelling related or otherwise) in the flat. The dog handler is even more un-photogenic primed. lol. Looks like you'll have to wait for the finished product.
monkeytroll - Cyber creatures are a very important part of the background...even for scavvies. Thanks for your advice btw on using guitar wire (though i really couldn't wait until the model was painted before sticking it in place) and your blog in general for cyber ideas.
neil101 - I'm really happy with the battery...it looks the part. The flick switch just makes it for me. I cannot rate the Ork Nobs box enough its heavy and crammed with loads of random odds and sods
Thanks again guys your comments have really given me the motivation to get back into it.

Well I can say out of my own experience that it's not good to prime your models inside. Before I primed all my models in a box in one of the rooms in my cellar. But after quite some time, I discovered a mysterious black powder or dust covering everything in the entire room. When I touch anything in the room my hand is covered in it and it's pretty nasty. So if you don't want your whole flat covered in primer dust then prime your models outside.

Well to end any debate that may start on the colour of the primer, on this occasion I primed black. (in fact all scavvy occasions will be black....I only use white on one off models).
Now to reassure readers that the black dust is not an issue at the moment I might be stupid but not that stupid
I used a whole newspaper, last weekends Sunday Times*, I sprayed near the window and had the extractor fan on (though this really didn't beat the smell as I hoped it would lol).
Peter
*Now for those who have never read or seen the Sunday Times: it is one of those papers that is so big and heavy it would be useful to own a fork lift truck to carry it home from the shops.....talking of which its time for my weekly workout since I don't own a fork lift.

Since I won't be online tomorrow - Merry Christmas.
Abi went to see her parents yesterday so I got to spend all evening painting and modelling uninterrupted. Decided it was only right and sensible to complete the dog handler before I start to paint the Dark Eldar and a Tear Bringer Librarian for the The Huge Space Marine Chapter Conclave - Dakka Group Project http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/333851.page.
Dog Handler Fleck (with Bernard and Bianca on his shoulders and Cyber Rat Reepicheep at his feet)
(named after Eugene Levy's character from the film Best in Show)
edit from the future, ok page 7, monkeytroll won the little rat naming with Bernard and Bianca (and she really does have a sexy voice)
and a further edit weetyskemian44 won the name of the cyber rat (Eddie Izzard is a very funny man)
Thanks guys
Anyway that's me done I'm watching Jingle All The Way. Take it easy.

neil101 - Thanks Neil. Merry Boxing Day...Ah Top Gear silliness, Christmas present German beer and Dakka Dakka . I am really happy with the stubble, the dry brush was slightly damp from previous usage and turned out the better for it.
jackanory - Nice little Union Flag you have going on at the moment. Hope you had a good journey. For some reason a F**k Yeah is my favourite compliment so far. The rats were part of Gnawtooth but the placement of the ghoul head couldn't have been better or luckier. I've got a little story brewing involving the rats, Fleck and a couple of disused oil drums.
Scarper - Cheers. The checks are good but time consuming. I decided that I should do some in homage to some of the old scavvy artwork. The rats skins started out as Chardonite Granite with added Tallarn Flesh or Khemri Brown. The bit of GS I didn't like was fine once the paint went on. I was looking at it too hard I think. Clay Shapers for the Win! I wish I'd made the checked rag a little more ragged towards the thin end at the GS stage.
monkeytroll - Rather spiffing if I say so myself
Mordheimer - as in The Mordheimer website Mordheimer? If so wicked site but please make it work with Opera I'm thinking a Beastman Warband is needed as some point...I just love the new Ungors. Thanks for the COMPLIMENT I've never looked at the Death Squad rules...is it like 2nd Ed? Cheers
slann - Thank you. I will try.
Lord Kaesar II - Two left feet, I've no idea I've never danced with him Looking at the model though he does not have two left feet. Hmmm didn't think of that connection with the name... I feel I should bung him in paint stripper and start again but alas my gang can only have limited mutants!
Cheers everyone for the comments and views
