Any recommendations on hero's to purchase?

Out of the folks I've tried so far I enjoy Sion, Sivir, and Ashe the most. Alistar is tons of fun, but I just don't think he's very good right now. Sadly, he's one of the few glaring imbalances I've seen. Goddamn he's an amazing pusher though.

Maybe try some champions on rotation or if you feel like a melee tank give Garren a try. Maybe as you seem to like ranged ones you could try Nidalee (semi ranged can transform into a cougar with decent burst damage, despite the appearance it should be built as an AP carry, if you go with it I'll go into more detail), Corki, Miss Fortune, Twitch (stealth ranged) or Teemo (no exactly top tier but a bunch of fun to play).

If you learn to play a champion enough, you can be good with just about any champ, even alistair. He still has two interrupts which, depending on your opponents, can be game winners. He is also a bit odd in that he can solo backdoor towers late game (something usually reserved for olaf/yi/twitch etc). Olaf is a neat offtank champ - most enemies will not be prepared for the massive attack speed gains as his health drops. I dont understand why people say trynd is bad in 5v5, he destroys carries hard. Just wirlwind in, slow, butcher a carry, blow ult before you die, butcher the nearest support/carry they have. There is basically no way to avoid him assassinating a carry, and drawing focus onto himself from the other team...which doesnt much matter since he becomes invulnerable. Unless your opponents are extremely organized, you can easily murder two champs before you go down, and basically win the battle for your team.

well, I decided that I really enjoy the following things

Haste
Slows
Attack Speed
Sneaky gak

To whit, I'm gonna grab Twitch.
Miss Fortune looks fun, but the lack of any kind of control moves kinda sours it for me.

facepalm my life.....he's 6300 points. Le sigh.

Trying out the werewolf guy....something about super high attack speed and self heals sounds fun.

Eh hes ok, TRY OLAF GOD DAMNIT. Hes tough, cant be crowd controlled, hits like a truck, attacks extremely fast (especially when hes hurt) has a huge AOE slow, and he penetrates armor and deals true damage, thus he can kill anything and there is nothing whatever it is is going to do about it. And, I believe he is 3150pts.

Brolaf has everything you were looking for besides stealth. Brolaf's idea of stealth is jumping out of a nearby bush and proceeding to push your face through the back of your head. Slow him, he uses his ult and no longer cares. Use ghost or can run faster than him, he throws his axe at you to slow you down to his level. Late game if you see him it's too late to escape having to fight him.

Speaking of which Riot finally caught on with the Brolaf nickname and made a skin for him.

Try jungle WW in a 3s or something. Start with cloth armour and as many health pots as you can get. The armour will eventually become Madred's Bloodrazor, but after you get the boots sorted go for the Bloodclaw for that extra damage to minions.

My friend plays him though so this is all by memory. For summoner spells Smite is definitely wanted here for that damage on the minions. For the other I think it might have either been Exhaust or Ignite. Then for skills I think it went Q>W>E for what you want to max, taking ult whenever you can.

The benefit is that each lane will gain 100% of the experience. But, the trade off is that there will be a 2v1 lane so that person has to be careful. Eventually your entire team should have a significant level advantage over the other besides their solo. Then proceed to gank their solo then the two remaining leading to a push. I'd probably wait until maybe level 9 or 10 before it.

Also an important skill is to not be found. They will know you're in the jungle, they may try to find you. If you have been doing it correctly they will die when they find you by themselves. 3v1 you'll still die. The trick is when leaving a jungle to pass through the lane do it to the back where no one is. You can do it on the enemy side, but wait in a bush on the edge for their creep wave to pass out of line of sight before leaving. The Bloodrazor will also help fight off those tanks.

Also another bit of advice that should be obvious is to watch gameplay videos, or champion spotlights if possible, for each champion you're interested in playing before purchasing them. Then once you do read up some guides to get a general feel of what the champ is about, what types of builds work and how you might go about using it. Then if you are still interested buy them, otherwise you have just stopped yourself from wasting IP.

Warwick can actually jungle without smite, since his life steal gets so high on single targets. By level 6, you should gank the 2v1 lane if they need it, which they usually will. keep this in mind: Killing the dragon yields more xp and gold to your team than getting a kill on a champ does. As soon as you have madred's claw (costs 1k total) warwick can solo dragon. Set up a ward at the dragon so that you know when it is up.

To be honest, warwick is not a very strong champ, but he has the best jungle skills, and his ult is great for lane ganking. He will start to lose his edge late game, but your team should be able to stay on top of theirs with warwick jungling/ganking.

Excellent advice on watching the champ spotlights n0t_u.

I definently noticed that WW is a bit weak late game. I think that I'm just not a great melee player, although folks trying to run from the wolf get chomped pretty bad.

I'd been going with boots as my first purchase, but maybe focusing on Madred's will give me the added survivability and minion damage I need to get fat mid game.

I definently enjoy 5v5 more than 3v3, but I'mma give the smaller games a shot this morning.

Dont buy boots as your first item, you dont really need the speed for anything until it is time to lane hop and gank. usually, one of the dorans items are a good choice for most characters. Also: save up for your tier 3 runes! they get extremely expensive later on but they are the best IP point investment you can make. 3v3 is tough, as your champion selection is very different from 5v5s. Jungling is much more important and many of the champs with huge AOE attacks are much less useful in 3v3. You need alot more focus damage because the first team to get a kill general determines the outcome of that particular team fight. Olaf is another excellent champ as is udyr, cho gath, ryze, twitch, etc etc. Any champ that has great combos but can be focused down quickly in 5s is usually much better in 3s because there isnt as much damage being passed around.

Wow, just did a game stacking Sunfire Capes on Sion....jesus christ he's insane. Think Cho Gath is annoying? Try Sion with 4600 health and ungodly armor that does 160 dps to everything around him. Stacked with uber move boots and a heal/ghost combo you can literally be the juggernaut.

Sion wants to go AP. If I remember correctly Garren is the champ to choose if you like Sunfire Capes.

I stack it on Blitzcrank though.

I've done AP Sion....its interesting, but this is equally fun....plus you don't die. Not dying is the key to winning. I

I'm not denying the fun of Sunfire Capes. Another one that's fun but doesn't seem to work so well is stacking Phantom Dancers on something like Teemo.

Build was absolute crap but my normal move was somewhere around 600-650, I had 2.5 attack speed, 100% critical and something like 90% dodge. I would appear in a lane and quickly win a 2v1 fight.
Outside of an inhouse game with bots this won't work as they will go "that's nice" and pick up that sword that ignores dodge or hit you with an AoE.

I've actually seen this build dominate entire games....its quite scary. I just can't bring myself to abuse poor poor little emo by sticking him into combat. He's too cute!

Gonna try tanked out Alistar with stacked health/capes. See if its as enjoyably useless as I remember him being a few days ago.

Give amumu or mundo a shot if you like the sunfires so much. Mundo has his own natural sunfire cape that deals even more damage and reduces crowd control effects. He also regenerates health extremely fast, making him very hard to kill. Amumu has a life drain aura too, except it is based on % maximum health, making it very deadly to tanks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On a side note: Amumu is a game winner if you can time his ult properly. 2.5seconds of their team not moving or attacking makes amumu one of the best tanks in the game.

Cool, I was eyeballing Mumu last night. I've only got about 2500 points right now....considering just stomping people on Sivir all day....she's mah bitch.

I don't understand the whole rune thing...I can't figure out where I am supposed to set up mastery and rune points other than the match load in screen....which is usually slow as all piss and laggy until the match actually starts.

I'd screenshot it for you but the server is 'Busy' right now. But right next to the shop icon is the icon that takes you to your summoner profile, and on that page are several tabs. One is masteries, one is runes.

Cool, I'll dink around with it later.

Digging the idea of Mundo or maybe some other person stacking Sunfires. Being unkillable is better than being a glass cannon.

I'd also like to say there are A LOT of really really horrible Sivir players. Nothing is more fun than stacking her with Ghost, Teleport, the move 5 OOC boots, Phantom Dancer, and the mastery that buffs Ghost. Pop sheild, haste, and watch an entire push run from you.

What makes mundo really neat is that his fire aura thing makes him difficult to crowd control esp if stacked with merc treads. Also, his ult gives him enormous movement speed. add ghost, and nothing will get away from you. Pick up a rylai's crystal scepter and your fire aura will now slow everything around you.

Up to you chief. Personally, I think garen is more well rounded for more situations, he has good offense while being tanky.

Mundo is more fun imo, but he can be countered easier with ignites, gangplank, MF etc. anything that prevents his healing. But, even with all that, mundo can be a terror if he gets rolling. What I like about mundo is that he can be tricky. He is a tank who really wants to get in your face with his giant flame aura of death. His masochsim ability can easily add several hundred damage to his attacks if his health is low, But, he has a really good long range skill shot that slows and deals % health damage. The problem with mundo is that you have to play him on the edge because that is where he is most dangerous, but also the most vulnerable, and if you get stuck against gangplank or MF, they are just going to toss their regen reducing debuffs on you and call it a day.

So, mundo is more risky, but can be more dangerous than garen. Garen is just good all around, but is limited in that hes just a tank with some damage output.

IMO, stop buying champs until you get the collector's edition. Since it gives 20 or 25 champions, you are almost guaranteed to be wasting IP points on champions that the collector's pack will give you anyway. Save your points for runes when you hit lvl 30, just play off of the champion rotations each week, that way you wont waste points and you will figure out which champions you really like.
