Did you try the Battle Training too, or just the first tutorial? If not, try it. Also, I recommend doing a practice game or 2 before going into the que. Practice games don't go on your win/loss record.

I'm thinking of coming back to LoL , anyway I find the practice games are no help. They are OK to practice last-hitting, but I find it is way too easy to kill them, and get them to feed you The computers constantly over-extend themselves, and it should be able to get the kill with almost anybody.

I said practice game; I never said bot game.

Bot games are Practice games, or at least were, they're custom now and do go on the record. The tutorial doesn't.

I'll rank the bots.

1. Ryze
Constantly surprising compared to the other bots. Sometimes he even sometimes performs a gank pretty decently. He also manages to do his combo quite well.

2. Nunu
While Ryze bot is number one by a huge huge huge gap, the others are more or less even. Nunu manages to get his slows off decently and doesn't suffer with tower love like Alistar. As one of the only two tanks available as bots he does his role decently. He does like to spam heal in the fountain though.

3. Alistar
Should be considered a stun on legs. His first and only priority seems to be "see an enemy, knock them into the air, retreat". Probably one of the most predictable bots, he is this high up in ranking as his knock up will usually either get you a kill or save you if something goes wrong.

4. Yi
One of the runner bots (Ie they get hit once and if they're above level 6 they run really really fast back to base). He can usually help with a push.

5. Soraka
The only thing she can do right is her ult. You'll be on 10 and might have ignite going all of a sudden heal, or healed just before they get the last hit on you. She sometimes suffers from the illusion of being Rambo. I'll be pushing a tower then maybe die or something from my friend, then all of a sudden Soraka jumps out of a nearby bush behind them, auto attacks twice and their health goes from 100% to 0%. Sometimes she'll stand completely still in the middle of an enemy minion wave and not even auto attack.

6. Sivir
Her nickname between me and my friends is Feed bot, it fits rather accurately. I've seen her way too many times with the ult going and just farming minions, with no bounce at all. She is the second runner bot, but unlike Yi is completely useless at it.


Needless to say they are bots, never rely on them for anything but an easy kill for the enemy. A better use of them is to use them for bait for the enemy team so you can kill the good parts of the enemy team.
Would be cool if they were as good as the DotA bots though.

Alistair is currently the worst tank in the game. He doesnt hit hard, his heal is garbage, all he has is a knock up and a push, but once he drops those, he doesnt do anything else. Take Amumu, he has a long range stun/drag/initiate-all-in-one, damage reduction/aoe damage with a basically non existent CD, massive AOE snare/damage, and % life drain AOE, he also drains magic resist. He is one of the best if not the best tank in the game, right next to shen.

Practice games are really just to learn a new character's mechanics and to learn how the game works in general if you are new. If there are bots in the game, it counts for nothing, but you get some IP if it is all players.

What bugs me is that everytime riot makes some changes to champs, some of them become usless, like heimer. He was terrible, then they buffed him and he became the best pusher/laner/tower-slayer ever. Then they nerfed him a bit, and a bit more, and a bit more. Now he is one of the most useless champs in the game.

This is to be expected though, especially when you have 30+ champs to keep balanced. Some of them always fall between the cracks.

I just started playing today actually, I knew about, but didn't know it was free, once I figured out it was, I got it immediately.

Its very good so far, however I'm still learning I guess.

Sounds like Yi is very good, which is good, because I like him the best.

Pretty cool, its exactly like DOTA just with different graphics and easier to use interface. Best free game I've played in a long time. Did a game as Corky and a game as Heisenwhateverhisnameisthatmakesturrets

Try playing as Yi, he demolishes turrets like they aren't even there. Champions too!

Heimerdinger and too bad you missed his golden age. He used to be considered very op, but now he's more or less balanced.

I've finally managed to break away from the support champs and seem to be going decently with Ashe.

I went 18/2/7 with Heimer last night on my thrid ever game...I think he's still feth all OP unless focus fired down by 3+ heros.....seems to be a powerhouse mid game but kinda sucks compared to others once you are maxed out.

Also REALLY enjoying Sivir the Battlemistress.

To all new folks, you make enough to start buying a hero after maybe 3 games.

This game has effectively halted progress on my army for the time being. rofl

Just played Mordekaiser, easily my favourite tank character. He's great at drawing damage from turrets, at level 18 his health is great.

Using Sivir in a 5v5 match that lasted 30 minutes I went 18/3/3, with 152 units killed, and 8 buildings nuked.


I think its safe to say she's OP or the team I fought was horribad.

Sivir's not OP, they just sucked. Or you're insanely good. Seriously though, try Yi and see how you like taking out towers like paper.

I'm thinking of trying one of the really crazy looking hero's next but they are all 3k+ IP.

Sivir is not as crap as people think, the most recentish changes to her fixed her up a bit. She's a pretty decent solo mid in 5v5 due to her good farming skills. She's not OP, but she's not as crap as she used to be either.


Heimer used to be able to make 3 turrets, which had more health and did slightly more damage if I remember correctly.


What heroes were you interested in Agro?
There are some that can be godly in 3v3, but absolute crap in 5v5 (Tryndamere for example). Yi is only 450 and can be OP as long as your team is going well to begin with, if they capitalize on his initial squishiness and manage to keep him down he won't really do much. If they leave him be though or don't slow him down enough he will walk right over all of them.

I really like the fast and tactical nature of Sivir. I've run into ALOT of Mordekaisers and Cho Gaths tonight so I've not been doing well. She seems to be VERY dependant on getting a few levels solo under her belt and some very expensive gear....but at 18 with the right stuff soloing a tower and an inhibitor takes less than 30 seconds provided there is a nice minion screen.


Tried Cho Gath, but couldn't get his timing down. Not a huge fan of stunlock BANG YOU ARE DEAD hero's.

I've not much cared for non-ranged hero's. Sitting there and slugging it out reminds me of 3 years spend leveling 2 warriors in WoW and maxing out their tank/dps sets. Yuck.

Yeh that's pretty much the reason why melee ranged champs stay pretty low on the tier list. Throw a decent ranged against them and they'll never get a hit in. Only thing helping Yi with that is the Q ability he has.

Just bought Sion because he sounds fun and has a Biomechanical skin. :p

Not to mention the fun of being a walking Arnie reference.

Sion is amazing as a tank, you have noooo idea... You can build him for Ability Power too, but he's best as a tankasaurus.

Sion is one of my fav chars. His best build is by far ap with some rod of ages/cd reduction. His stun is very OP because you can get it down to a 4sec cd and have it hitting for 800+dmg. He will be difficult to kill between his high hp, passive, and shield.

Yi is not OP, he is actually terrible, especially in high ELO matches. He is too easy to counter by simply nuking him with an ap character such as annie/malz/anivia/etc etc etc. He loses by default to several characters, such as trynd (ooohhh good luck fighting trynd with yi, you lose every time) and olaf.

If you like yi, give olaf a shot. He is a very tough damage dealer, he attacks faster as his health drops, he DESTROYS tanks with his armor penetration and true damage strike, and his ult is godlike, much better than yi's. Olaf's ult makes it so he cannot be crowd controlled by anything, and he gains tons of armor penetration. Build him with a ton of hp (because one of his abilities adds damage based on max hp) and atma's and you end up with a melee champ that will stick to carries like glue and wanders around with 5k+hp, swinging for 500+dmg a swing regardless of armor, and can only be stopped by killing him.

also worth trying would be corki, although he is a 6300 champ. He hits extremely hard with everything, and he has a good escape mechanic.

Guides are your friend agro, particularly the ones on leaguecraft. Check out a few different guides for any one champion and you'll have more insight and you'll -play that champ better than before, guaranteed.
For example, this guide turned me into a beast with Cho'Gath:

Yeah....got my ass handed to me as Sion in 2 games. I jsut suck with melee right now.

Here is a key to playing sion - dont play him like a melee char. sion has two features that make him very very good. first - he has the highest natural armor and health of any character in the game. This means, he is the toughest champ at low levels. Second - his stun and shield deal great damage, and have good, short cooldowns. Build him ap and make sure you get rod of ages for the health.

When you are laning; sit in the shrubs and activate your shield, let it count down until you can manually pop it then run out and pop a champ with your stun, get close to him and blow the shield. Get sheen and this easy little combo will be doing over 500dmg at a very low level.

Sion's best ability is his stun, abuse it. He also nukes lanes very easily with his shield, at higher levels you can just blow your shield and put down an entire minion wave.

What is nice about building him ap is - he still deals some damage with his auto swings because of enrage and you can still make use of his ult for plowing towers which is where basically every other AP champ fails.

Awesome man, thanks! I was going for straight health builds with some lifestealing, but it just didn't have enough punch to do anything than make other hero's flee. I can see how reduced CD's and beefed up AP would make his stun ridiculous.

Like I said he can be built as AP, but he's at his best as a tank. I recommend you check out the guides on Leaguecraft, they break down what abilities to max first, how to use them, what items to buy, etc. There's at least one guide for AP Sion too, if you really want to give that a try.

I dont know who in their right mind would build a tank sion, hes terrible with a tank build. All you have as a tank is a single stun, then you can just stand there and do nothing. He wont hit hard with anything, which means there is no reason to target him at all, the enemy team can simply ignore him. As AP, you will hit hard as hell, have a short cd stun while still being difficult to kill, thus he is best as an off-tank. For a rundown on the best builds for a champ, look at what top players in high ELO matches play, look at what builds they run in tourneys etc etc.

On a side note - I wrote several of the guides on leaguecraft.

AP Sion with a decent lanemate is really really fun. I have ALOT of trouble with Ashe though.....but oh well. He's great at smashing towers and has a buttload of health.


Having a 2 second stun that hits for 300ish at level 5 isn't too shabby.

He is an awesome solo against alot of the standard solo champs like ashe. He is nearly impossible for them to kill him at low lvls.

stun+auto swing+shield+ignite usually equates to a dead mid carry.
