I play Dark Heresy, and Las-weapons have a lot going for them. You can recharge their packs easily any where; even heating them in a fire works though it does degrade the packs. They also have good range and accuracy, and are easy to repair.

These things were just.. urgh. I had so many. I dug out my old chaos army and showed them to my friends recently, there were hysterics. Remember the mutation sprue with the giant arms that made no sense and left you with models you could not possibly line up? Or even just trying to work out the skeletal structure needed to pull those poses in that armor while having necks coming out of their mid chest. Fantastic.

Really doesn't change how hideous they are or how long it took for them to get an update that made them look remotely humanoid :(

It's a comparative thing. Lasguns aren't that rare, but they are more difficult and expensive to produce, which makes solid-ammo auto-weapons a little more common in the Underhive.

in Necromunda Bolters are blast weapons

Is that a recent change? Because they aren't in my rulebook.

Why did you need a lot? The points costs at 5th edition when these were released were colossal, you could make a 2000 point army with a couple of units some cavalry and a lord.

I got a few out recently and painted them up.

And the knights...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/howardtreesong/DSCF1825.jpg

I quite liked them myself. Brings back memories, these were £10 for a box or 12 I think. It was start of their multipart plastic regiments that have continued to today. They are a bugger to rank up though, but the modern ones look a bit too organised and regular.

I had a few units with different marks, so for wysiwyg I had more than one unit with different schemes.

Gameplay difference is a difference in the ammo roll. Lasguns are more reliable and less prone to jamming in the middle of a fight than an autogun.

The lasgun has a -1 save modifier as well.

He's likely thinking of shotguns firing shot, which used the 1/2" template in the original rules. Something that never affected play once in the decade or so of me playing the game.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Bolt Weapons are, generally, hard to get in Necromunda, as I remember. Very expensive and running out of ammo on your shiny new bolter was a definite risk. I think I tended to stick with Lasguns and went with numbers over a few guys with better weapons.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

After the beautiful Dark Eldar models I almost joined the cult of "GW can do no wrong," at least model-wise... then I saw the Stormraven and my faith was destroyed.

The simplest things would have been to lower the engines and wings. Replace the turret with a razorbacks' and lose the intake tower.

i like that turret, it's really streamlined.

a Razorback turret would stick out like a sore thumb and make it look even more clunky.
