Despite the Baby-harness stigma, if you watch Iron Man you will notice the DK looks very much like Iron Monger when his cockpit is open.

Hmm there has been an update on his blog

The 15mm scale Leviathan Crusader is off to the caster for quote and molds. Likely another week before I have a firm price and the mold work begins.

Next up... I am back to work on 28mm scale infantry. Here are a few test shots of the Eisenkern trooper.

Here is a sneak peak of another vehicle. The Puma II scout walker, still very much a WIP.

Love the Puma, that trooper looks fugly though, far too reminicent of Wargames Factory great coats (helmet-wise anyway)

Lol.. The helmet was designed back in early 2001 so the resemblance to greatcoats is purely coincidental. I know its a bit cliché, but it needed to be immediately recognizable as a German trooper. I can go a bit more crazy design wise on some of the heavier armor.

Refresh my memory - is the 15mm version taller than a dreadnaught?

I'd love to use one, or two!, as Pre-Heresy dreadnaughts, but I think they might be too tall...?

I thought they were taller, since people were hoping/planning to use them as Dreadknights... but I don't know if people would mind them being pre-heresy dreadnaughts (in a different army, of course) either!

I quite like the trooper, although he looks a little thin. Obviously you're going for more 'normal' human proportions than is standard in 28mm, but even so he looks like he would have to be awfully thin to fit into that armour. But maybe that's just down to skewed perceptions from spending too many years looking at 40K figs...

The Puma is gorgeous, though.

@Vitruvian: That is likely because WGF also styled their shocktrooper helmets off German WW2 helmets. That being said, if the head is a separate piece, it's really a non issue as you can replace it with whatever head style you like.

In terms of design, I really like the trooper in the scale shot. If the heavy infantry helmet is supposed to be an evolution of German WW2 tech, I would say it should look more like a modern US army or SWAT helmet. If sticking to more historical, the rear lip rises way to high and leaves the back of the head and neck very vulnerable.

Might be irrelevant to everyone else, but that is the coolest design for a robotic foot I have ever seen. I dig the Puma, except for that front grab bar under the cockpit. Were I an Allied soldier, I could think of some serious nastiness to conduct with that.

As far as the 15mm unKnight Paladin, I am all over it. My AdMech need robots, badly.

I actually built the armor on top of a correctly scaled average "fit" human figure. Although I can and may fatten him up a bit, I think this proportion is not something your used to seeing in GW figures so it tends to look a little anemic? he is actually a bit thicker in proportions than a MERCS mini.

The scale shot armor with the Puma II is more in line with the Republic faction... I will do a similar design for that trooper. The high rise back of the helmet is there because this is a HALO trooper with a grav pack. When the pack is attached it needs the vetrical room so the trooper can still move his head.

Hehe.. your right, the bar is there to protect the imaging sensor in the nose from collisions. I pictured this walker as a very robust vehicle capable of some punishing maneuvers such as the Capitan Kirk rolls with pilots pushing the design I thought it made sense to put a roll bar of sorts over the most easily damaged parts.

Oh, I figgered it was something like that, and lets face it a closed cockpit design is going to need SOME kind of sensory input. It LOOKS good, fair dues; I was just thinking a bit too in character I guess. That foot is still so functional it's sick. Dig. It. Seems like a weird thing to be impressed with, but I get sick of seeing robots (looking at you, Fire Toad) that look cool but couldn't actually move worth a damn. Just a personal pet peeve.

One of the things I resent most about GW and their position in the market is how their warped proportions have tainted the aesthetic senses of literally a generation of hobbyists. Damn iron-daiper wearing space marines.

Thanks guys!

Here is a bit of playing with poses.. I will try to get them a little more dramatic than what you see without entering the "space ninja" dramatic pose. A bit more tilt on the torso, etc to show more fluid movement.... not so stiff.

Thank you Actually I tend to fixate on the feet designs. I feel a good foot helps ground the design and add interest. I also, where I can, make sure that the design makes mechanical sense. That things could actually work, as designed. I think it adds a level of believability to a rather fantastical concept.

Love those troopers!
my only concern is the cuts on the side of the head, the shape seems like it will be hard to pull off with a standard mold!

They wont be resin cast, they are going into one of the black rubber spincast molds. I will make sure any undercuts are minimized. What you need to remember is that what you see will be sooooooo small as to have little effect on the mold. a .25mm feature looks large in these pics.
