Bummer, I just saw this thread. I may have to find a good reason to add to my Deathwatch squad and show it here. I've had and entire ten-man squad painted since they came out in 3rd edition, so I can post one of them- but only painted, not raw.

Looking great guys, there's some fantastic conversions and paintjobs coming through. And thanks to you guys for organising this competition, its great seeing the talent of dakka put to a task.

@Melcavuk: I agree, and seeing the wip shots is really inspiring for building in general; and kind words indeed sir!

Re: not having a WIP shot - it's to ensure you're not claiming someone else's work as you own basically. If it only applies to a couple of folk I'm willing to be flexible, and be trusting, assuming Leadlegion's happy with that also.

Nah, don't worry about it, I will be painting a good chunk of my army as Deathwatch so no need to change rules on my behalf.

Yup, that's fine with me as well. However, if it's from your third edition days, I'd recommend you make another one and re-post the pictures. After all, if you're painting and modelling skills have improved considerably in the space of three editions, I'd be extremely surprised.

Also, I'd go so far as to say it's okay provided none of the other entrants object. If even one competitor does object (even if it's just in a private message), I reckon we'd have to say no.

Ah, that's ok about the before-and-after shots. I used up my gift certificates the wife and mother gave me for my 30th b-day just today. After seeing an old 2nd edition model is still being sold on the website, I realized my Deathwatch squad has been slaughtering aliens without an Apothecary to recover any fallen brother's gene-seed! Heresy!

So alongside some Eldar Wraithguard I have an additional battle-brother on the way to paint up to join my squad.

Shoulder pad arrived today. So I've got two things set... the base and the pad. Just need to start going through kits to pick bits out for the rest of the marine.

Hi gang,
Leadlegion were chatting Tuesday there and we both felt that, whilst the standard of minis we're seeing is frankly breathtaking, some of the photos are letting y'all down (hey, I'm as guilty of this as anyone). I recommend this:

Awesome stuff cropping up by some VERY talented people regarding this Deathwatch comp! makes me kind of want to pull my entry in embarrassment but I have started assembly and this is where he stands tonight, I'm looking forward to starting him tomorrow and trying to do a decent paint on him!

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

So where are people getting their deathwatch shoulder pads from? I've had a look on the GW website, but can't see them. Is ebay the only option? I can only seem to find them in singles there, and I'm looking to make a few squads to add as allies to my Grey Knights. This thread is great for inspiration by the way!

Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

My initial squad is from when they first came out so I was able to get the metal shoulders, heads and bolters set. For any further expansions to them I am using the pad from the plastic Command Squad, or the Terminator Squad pad for my Captain in Terminator armor.
