Thanks! Glad you like it.

While waiting on some bits to come in for the Dreads I figured I would go ahead and paint the Chaplain. I'm not going to base it as I don't recall exactly how my friend based the rest of his army so I will let him do that part.

Thanks! Painting is almost done. Been a slow process as it gets busy for me around this time of the year. Hopefully I will be finished with the painting within a week or so.

Nice avatar, btw! lol

So, after procrastinating on the Death Company dreads, I have finally finished them up today. I can once again start playing my Stormraven born Death Company army now. lol. So, now that those are done, it is time to move on to the 3 super heavies that I have. First up will be the Baneblade that I started converting some time ago, followed by a Stormlord and then finally my Warhound Titan.

Thanks everyone! I am glad you all like my work so far. I always appreciate the comments and critiques.

Okay, so now that I am pretty much done with the Death Angels stuff for now, it's time to turn my attention back to the Mortis Legion Armored Company. On the workbench now is my Baneblade and Stormlord. As with all the previous tanks, they are going to have lots of skulls and lots of spikes, but being that these are much bigger and more "centerpiece" type models, these are going to be more "shrine-ish" in their look, as they are warmachines dedicated to the god of death. Here is what I have so far.

I am going to incorporate the following bits onto these models, as well as some other bits from the Corpse Cart kit. The flaming skull columns are going to go in the open bay area of the Stormlord towards the back, with the reaper statue in between them. The reaper fig came from RAFM miniatures. I am going to add some candles and a big necromantic tome to the bay area as well, as it will be the command tank from where the Necromancer will guide the army. I am also going to use the reaper statue on the rear of the Baneblade turret.

I also received my box of skeletons from Wargames Factory and I will be adding them to the bone/skull piles on both tanks, as well as being placed in other decorative areas of the tanks. I usually start my projects with a general idea in mind and then start adding things as the models start coming together, so I don't know exactly where all the skeletons will end up. I chose to use the WGF skeletons as opposed to the GW ones because it seemed there would be more usable bits with them. Plus I get 30 in a box for $20 instead of 10 for $24.75.

So, that is what I am going to be working on for January and February. Hopefully I will be able to finish one a month, but I am also starting a campaign that I need to make some terrain for so we shall see.

Hmm... it's okay, I guess. Could use some more skulls though.

Okay, seriously: That Banelade looks great! Can't wait to see it painted.

You know what, I think it could use some more skulls! lol Glad you like it.

So here is the first Baneblade all converted up. Can't really do anymore with it I guess so time to get it primed and painted. The Wargames Factory skeletons were just awesome to work with. Since they didn't come with any weapons attached to their hands, it gave them a more "natural" look, as opposed to a closed fist hand with the weapon cut off. I also found that the legs were easy to bend into the shape I needed to fit over and around the piles of skulls. As with the rest of my tanks, the Baneblade is going to be painted black with gold trim. I am hoping to get this one done by the first of February. Anyway, on to the pics.

It is lacking a few skulls, isn't it? lol. Glad you like it. The story behind all the skulls is that this legion worships Mortis the god of Death, and they adorn their tanks and vehicles with icons of death and the skulls and bodies of their enemies to instill fear in the ranks of their enemies on the battlefield.

Thanks! I knew the Baneblades and Titan were going to be the centerpieces of my army, so I saved them for last so I could take my time on them and really do them justice.

So you are the Ghost Rider now? Cool! lol

So, one Baneblade down, one more to go. And then the Warhound. I will start converting up the Stormlord this week and I will post some pics of it once that is done.

So work on the Stormlord has now begun. Started carving off some of the Aquilas so that they can be replaced by skulls (MOAR SKULLS!), shaved off some rivets for the spiky bits to fit, and ordered some more Fantasy bits for it. Got some resin skulls in from Miniature Hobby out of China and I will be putting them to good use on this project. This is going to be a "Fortress of Arrogance" type Stormlord, with the open bay area turned into an alter area for Mortis and where the Necromancer Lord will be placed during the game. I don't think placing the Necromancer Lord (basically a Chaos Space Marine Sorceror) there has any in-game effects, but is more for the visual element.

Here are some pics of the altar I made and the Fantasy terrain bits I have used so far. Made the altar out of a wall from the Cities of Death building sprue, and made the small podium that the Angel of Death statue will stand on out of a spare searchlight from a Leman Russ. Added some plastic card to the sides of the city wall to fill the gaps, and used some plastic card to make the top of the altar. Going to place some skulls around the base of the podium and place some candles along the top of the city wall section.

I love how the Baneblade's Demolisher cannon almost can't shoot because the pile of corpses is in the way.

Awesome conversion! Keep it up.
