@Sir William: Haha no prob, always happy to help, and glad to hear that I'm not the only one using them. The hobby is just so friggin expensive as it is!

@MrMerlin Thanks man!

As always, not making as much progress as I initially thought... I really thought I'd have been finished with this last week! Hoping an update will make me gtf done with it.

It's in its clean stage at the moment:

Just a few more details here and there, including bronzing the exhaust pipes, and of course chipping/weathering.

And here's the pilot:

Like a true ork, even when flying a plane all he wants to do is hit something with his choppa!

I'm debating putting blood splatter all over him and the prop, to make it look like he managed to swoop down and nail someone. Maybe some guts or a head stuck to the plane somewhere...though I'm afraid it might not come out right, what do you guys think?

Thanks sir william!

@KingCracker Haha there's nothin more orky than that I love the idea of the boys spazzing out in the middle of a more important fight. Sometimes in less competitive games I'll tank shock or ram my trukks into enemies before they drop of their boys, figuring the driver just had a better idea when he saw that shiny rhino. Sometimes it ends well...

Made the base

And got the chipping done, now just some weathering and finishing up the pilot!

Thanks man! And DO IT the dakkajet was a lot of fun to build and is VERY useful in-game. It's cheaper than a squad of lootas, more survivable (till more AA starts showing up/people get less scared of only being able to snap fire at them), and hits just about as many times as lootas. The strength 6 still destroys infantry, and on a WAAGH most vehicles don't even stand a chance.

And on that note, here it is:

Like a good ork, even when flying a freakin airplane, he still wants to hit something with his choppa

WAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

Top down:

The underbelly:

I'm not really sure what that is on the bomb... I just kinda went with what I was painting.

And here's Da Base

And here's the start of my next project, Looted Wagons!

I'm going to start making a very loose theme, applying some soviet army elements to da boyz. I say loose, because it'll really only be a couple of units. But one wagon is a BMP-1 and will be a transport, and the other, a T-55 which will be a boomwagon. I have plans for some kannon crew grots and a few other fun things too. Had I thought about this better, the meganobz prolly would have been included in there too. I may figure a way to retro-fit them with something too though

Got some work done on the Boomwagon:

That grot rigger is magnetized

My early attempt at turning the spotlights into the eye of a glyph:

Ditched the face. Got better plans

Oui! Shove it 'umie!

The wagon still needs more armor gubbins all over the turret, and I need to greenstuff the nob's finger still, but besides that, it's starting to look like how I want it.

The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of having most of my army flipping off my opponent, so I'm going to probably be doing this a lot more.
So far I've got one of the meganobs and one wagon doing it.... Maybe I'll just have everything soviet themed doing it.... That would mean grots, another wagon, that other sub(if I ever get to it), a burnawagon, and prolly a megadread.

Thanks guys!

Something's weird with the treads of the wagon. They're rubber, and after spraying them (presumably with primer that apparently isn't made for rubber) They're still tacky after 4 days. I'll give 'em a bit longer before I just go over them with something else in hopes of that drying. Anyway, while waiting for the primer to dry on the treads of the wagon... got distracted, made a weirdboy.

How to make a cheap weirdboy in 5 easy steps:

1) Take an AOBR nob.

(this is a different aobr nob than the one that I had used, I already chopped him up when I decided to take this picture)

2) Make him nakey

3) Give him gubbinz, including sacrificin' bitz, and a wishin' stick.

4) Give him muscles (I kinda accidentally made mine seriously jacked, but I'll just have to name him appropriately)

His back kinda sucks, I might fix it up, but I also might get lazy and not.

5) Weirdboy.

GREEAHHHH!

That's exactly it. I actually never sculpted muscles before... I just kept working it until it looked right. In fact, the GS was right at the end of it's workable life when I realized how much better it looked to (go figure) ADD some green stuff to the areas that are raised--like his pecs, ab muscles, and shoulder blades. Before that point I just sculpted the outline of them and took bits of it away to give the impression of them being raised. It actually looked really bad all the way until the very end.

Heres a pro tip for getting even half assed decent pics with poopy cams. Tap either a dakr shirt, or piece of paper, and drap it on a seat or couch cushion or on the top of the toilet leaning against the wall behind it, things like this. That way you have a gradual slope , this tricks the camera into thinking the backdrop goes on forever, and forces the camera to at least somewhat focus on the mini in question.

Use the same trick when you get good camera back, for better pics all around

Bahaha definitely never realized it before but yeah his back totally does look like an ass, especially in those pics. Though I do think it's MUCH more noticeable in the pics rather than in real life. BUT anyway I gots me camera back today so that means good picture time!

Also...

Dis 'ere is Top 'At

One of da mad doks eksperiments, gone horribly right.

Boss Noteef was quite weedy in comparison to his mates. Only slightly larger than a regular boy, he was always the butt of the jokes and pranks from the usual mob he ran with. He also never grew tusks, which led to jokes about his orkhood, caused him to be very self conscious about his body. What he lacked in size though he certainly made up for with ferocity. He was very good making examples of those he held grudges against. He was absolutely obsessed with getting bigger so he could challenge da big boss, or even da warboss. And he wanted the biggest tusks in the whole warband. He didn't want to work for it, however. He just wanted the results, instant gratification. so he consulted his doc, who certainly gave him what he wanted. Well, mostly, at least.

It did have some repercussions, however... He is completely, utterly, insane.

After running down his old mob and destroying half of the encampment, Warboss dikpuncha and Hindgrinda came up with an incredibly cunnin' plan...

Most sounds that come out of his mouth are completely incoherent. And when there isn't an obvious enemy in his immediate vicinity, he'll happily destroy whatever else is in his path, unless chained down.

'speshlly if dey gots teef

Last Wednesday I found out that this weekend there's a mega battle at my flgs, which would allow apocalypse stuff. I bought this sucker off ebay last year and all he's been doing since was laying around. Since I had more useful things to build until now, I never found the time. So now I have 10 days to build and paint a stompa out of him, starting last wed. I've been so busy building him in the little spare time that I do have that I haven't been able to take many pictures during the building process...AND to make matters worse, the pictures that I DID take last week I took on my phone (since my camera was being commandeered) and I lost my phone over the weekend before I uploaded the pics!

Well without further adieu here is Top 'At, da mad stompa

Though I can't take full credit for him. I have no idea what crappy anime cartoon this guy came from, but I am SO happy that he did. And it also wasn't my idea to actually turn him into a stompa either, whoever I bought it from had already tried that. But just about everything else about him is original. I re-used the one gun located on his howda from the other guy, but that's about it.

As you can tell, I primed all of his accoutrements since it was beautiful outside today and I'm afraid I won't be able to later this week. He's going to be a big mek stompa , so I built the lifta-droppa, deff kannon, and big powery-bit on top for the power fields. Modified/repositioned the gun on top to be a giga-shoota, And built the howda so some boyz with big shootas can fire wildly from the top. The monicle-ish-thing attached to a lascannon is his gaze of mork. Still need to make 3 rokkits, give him knee pads and/or boots (maybe), and rivet the hell out of everything. Oh yeah and paint. Got A LOT to do if I want it done by saturday!

And if I do ever find my phone, you'll see what he used to look like, along with some pre-primer WIP photos.

Just wondering, what tank/scale/kit did you use for the wagons? I'm looking for a domed turret similar to that for use on a Chaos Legion Fellblade. Something which a trigger happy ork would love as much as the next one

Thanks everyone, seriously!

@MrMerlin Thanks man! I wouldn't have even thought of it if you didn't mention it.

@Grimbad I actually tried some ideas for armor cuz I agree, he is a little bit too naked to have an Armor value 13... But everything I tried so far just didn't look right. I even tried making basically SUPER mega armor, going along with the same look as my meganobz, but it still just didn't look right on him. Plus I've only got 2 days to finish him! So in my haste, for now, he stays nakey, I'll just say his super muscular muscles of doom are incredibly tough. AV13 tough....

@chaotic Its a brand called Skif and they're 1:35 scale models. The tank is a T-55 and the LAV is a BMP. The scale works perfectly with 40k. And modern tanks are larger than WWII era ones, so if you were to get, say, an M1 or T-80 it should be larger than my T-55. The only thing that I absolutely needed to change was the cannon of the tank. Way too weedy for 40k, especially orks. But that was pretty simple. So plan on replacing that, but besides that they're great.

@collectors Haha absolutely! Loot whatever you see fit.

Again, thanks guys!

Thanks man!

After A LOT of work I did get him all done in time for the game yesterday. Done enough, at least. I unfortunately didn't have the time to paint up the 3 big shootas w/ crew on his howda, or the 3 grot missiles... but I recognized in the beginning that they were lowest on the priority list and that I probably wouldn't be able to anyway.

Ah and I also found out where he came from, he's apparently a desiccator from the "Spawn" comic universe. One of the guys at the mega battle was able to identify him.

So here's Top 'at, all did up and spiffy.

Close-up of the lifta-droppa, made mostly out of a grabbin claw and an old car charger from God knows what

He just can't stop laughing.... now that he's so wonderfully ginormous

Gaze of Mork (or was it Gork)

From atop the howda (where there will eventually be the big shoota boys from the battlewagon kit)

And here's a few pics from the Mega Battle:
It was chaos/daemons vs. everyone else, to celebrate the new codex.

By far, the best weapon ever is the lifta-droppa. D6 glancing hits on whatever vehicle it decides to throw, plus D6 glancing hits on whatever vehicles I'm lucky enough to drop it on. The deff kannon pie plate was scary enough to the enemy that any gun crew shaken results were thrown on it, but I literally destroyed a soul grinder and THREE rhinos in one turn by dropping him on them. Granted, they were very close together, so normally I wouldn't be able to do that, but I killed 4 vehicles in one turn! With one weapon!

Anyway, here they are. For some reason I only took 3 pics at the game, and they're particularly bad pictures too, so I apologize for that.

Here's Top 'at in action:

The poor soul grinders that were (to our immense amusement) repeatedly flung about the battlefield:

The rolling thunder of the Imperial Guard were an enormous asset to us for obliterating that entire side of the board.
