Oh man, how good are Kromlech! If I had orks, i'd be all over their range.

Alphas look good! The blends on the cloaks are smooth as. They stand out nicely among the tech-thralls.

Today was building day! Going to ship most of this off to Nerdfest for painting but I will also be saving a few for myself.

The first few are from the "Combat Arena" boxed game that's exclusively available from Barnes & Noble. That being said it was only $40 and has 5 very nicely sculpted snap-fit plastic figures (each of which has official rules for 40k... not in the box though). Sorry for the rubbish pics.

X-101: A servitor character.

Daedelosus: Very good in 40k. Hits a point sweet-spot too for HQs too.

Neyam Shai Murad: Rogue Trader, but she looks like she'd fit right in with the AdMech.

A Tech-Priest Manipulus: Apparently the a Swiss Army Knife of the AdMech. Has some decent rules too.

A fail-cast Inquisitor Coteaz: Remember when he was in every single freakin' Imperial army?? He must be on sabbatical.

Cucumber Head, the psychic assassin:

The Red Gobbo... well, one version of him at least.

A Kromlech ork pilot. For giggles.

OH, and a "family" pic for scale.

So now that the fun stuff is done... it's on to the slog of the units. Starting with 2 kastellan robots.

First look at the red mechanicus I thought they were 3D printed. Which ones are you keeping? Inquiring minds want to know.

No, they're fine. Just crappy pics.

Grot, servitor, cucumber head and rogue trader. The rest go to Nerdy.

Lovely figs. Looking forward to what you - and nerdy - do with them.

Thanks graven. I am too. Really nice group of sculpts.

Finished up my last two kastellan robots. 3rd Party heads are cool but took a lot of fiddling to build a base for them to sit on and GS them in as they are too small for the neck hole. *grumble*

Promised Tyler I'd do some basic airbrushing on his six IG vehicles... including 3 tanks. Have other gaming stuff to do (video to make, hut roofs for Bushido to fix {again for Tyler}) so I'm not sure the building will recommence until tomorrow. There is still a LOT to do. Something like 30 infantry and 6 cavalry.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Today's main project... 6 IG vehicles which I'll have to face later in battle. :/ Just the airbrushing with a base color, shade and highlight. Nothing fancy. Thankfully I don't have to finish them. Unfortunately the lights in my studio are kind of overwhelming so it doesn't look like there's any shading. It's there.

While working on his tanks you should install some demo charges/Melta bombs or cut the break lines.

@Nev: Capital ideas!

Tonight's "all friggin' night since 3pm project" was putting 3 of the hounds together. Flimsy friggin' models with too many, totally unnecessary parts. Going to have to run brass pins from the base to the horses' chest cavities if these are to have any hope of surviving gaming and storage.

It. I’ve been wanting to build Necromunda Police units with a couple Ambots as ED209s, but now that I see these I want to build a Judge and a couple “Dog” mounted troopers. How integrated are the riders to the hounds?

They look much better with these side shots than the pics from GW of the leaked images.

That is a box full of tanks, whenever I have played against a IG player with a tank heavy army I have been beat. Looking forward to seeing how you handle all that armour.

Not at all. I just glued the riders down because I totally screwed up building the legs so they didn't sit the hound correctly.

Both these and the new jumpy dudes took me totally by surprise. Never saw them coming... but I love them.

First... take that dang "u" out of "armor"... you aren't a Brit!

Second... with a bit of luck rolling, re-rolling & adding or subtracting 1 to get the right canticles... my proposed 2000 pt list (which is actually light on heavies), could pump out 74 shots each turn with at least 42" range, S7 (most) or S8, mostly AP -2 shots and hitting on a mix of 3s and 4s (mostly 4s)... re-rolling misses with one chosen target giving a +1 to hit. 20 of these shots can also target flyers with a +1 to hit.

Now... that sounds overwhelming... but when you do the numbers it's much more sane. 74 shots, 55 hits, 27 wounds. Assuming a 3+ save on the vehicle becoming a 5+, 18 unsaved wounds... most doing just 1 damage but a hand-full doing more. That's in a perfect world where every one of my heavies has a clean shot at the same target... not likely. Still... I should be able to handle one tank or perhaps 2 transports per turn until my heavies get shot up badly (say T3 maybe?). I'm hoping that will be enough. Unlike my previous builds... this build will have 9 units (56 men) moving forward aggressively (and 4 of the units have incredible speed), sniping characters and wreaking havoc as they go. I'm hoping this will force my opponent to divert some attention and resources to dealing with all the stuff up in his business rather than pounding my heavies to oblivion. Granted his tanks won't be targeting my infantry, but if I can overwhelm the center I have a lot more options for claiming objectives then shooting or assaulting said vehicles.

Third... thanks! I hope they look even cooler when Nerdy works his magic on them.

My Kromlech grot tanks came in today!! They must have set up a new supply system because it only took about 10 days to get them rather than 5 or 6 weeks! Way to go boys!

@Yorkright: No excuses! There can be only one!

So my drive to get my AdMech models done ASAP was totally derailed when I bumped into these models while searching for some grot tanks. Of course I had to assemble them right away and will likely have them painted (or close to it) by tomorrow night. I think these are Kromlech ork artillery pieces (I suppose I could go look it up) and will be serving as my lobbas for the time being.

I totally understand that one. I was halfway through assembling a nice Tzeentch army for KoW and found some sweet Golems from Runewars on clearance...bought three boxes and assembled/primed them. The catch is they will be for a future Chaos Dwarf army...lol

They are too uniform for Orks. Well at least my Orks. Greater variation especially on the barrels is required......

Finished the grot artillery. Not fancy but I think they'll look fine. I should add some Bad Moon black triangles on the yellow but it's time for bed.

Simpler would be to just sponge on some chipping? They look quite clean and fresh for grots

Yeah, they do. Need some rust too. Good call. Was hoping this would be a quick and dirty project... obviously not dirty enough!

Decided to start with some black lining around the skull, to differentiate it from the yellow. Next some black triangles in the upper corners, then sponging, replace a few of the painted bolts with unpainted ones, then rust. Maybe dirt caked on the wheels. That will do it I think. Need to get back to building AdMech so I can't mess with these too long.
