Shame, more investigation reveals one of this summer's weddings IS on that weekend, so I will have to take my name off of the reserve list.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I'd say that sucks, but I love it there, so...

Sorry Rob, hopefully you can get there with someone else.

I am almost certainly going to go for Tyranids rather than my planned Dark Angels -- I can't seem to get a 1000 pt Dark Angel list that isn't either very fragile, or very limited in firepower. :( Might bring my DAs for bigger point games on the Sunday though.

UPDATE 28/04/10

changes have been made to the first post - we now have only 4 players (ArbitorIan, Reaver83, BOSS_PIMPALOTZ and Tantras) who have yet to make an army selection.

As it stands we have 2x Marines, 1x Sisters, 6x Guard, 2x Tau, 1x Tyranid, 5x Orks/Grotz and 3x CSM. All in all a pretty good spread!

As usual, post/PM any changes. We still have one name on the reserve list so if you can't make it, be sure to let me know so I can bump Titan Princeps to the main list.

It would be nice if I can finalise everything by the end of May so that I can issue out the rules/mission packs and give everyone plenty of chance to practice over summer. Any question let me know and I'll see you all soon!!

Has anyone booked anywhere to stay yet?

Also, I am heading over from somewhere in the region of Stoke (boo!)

I just booked rooms for myself and Arakasi at the Riverside Travellodge at £35 night. 6 minutes drive/ 30 minutes walk from GW and about a mile from the city centre to allow for drinkage in the evening.

You have my sympathies about Stoke. I went to university in Stafford

Is there a definitive list anywhere of who is attending? I signed up initially for myself and three friends, but missed any sort of acknowledgement. Just want to make sure before we go ahead looking for accommodation etc.

Tantras
Taloncab
Corsair
Battlecannon it Phil

Corsair will almost certainly be playing Tyranids, I will almost certainly be playing CSM, as far as I'm aware the other two chaps are still deciding.

I was asked by Corsair (who has no net access right now) to request that he be added to the reserves list, please.

Updated - Corsair is on the reserves (but be aware there are 2 people ahead of him) and you're down for CSM, Tantras.

Now if I can just get ArbitorIan, Reaver83 and BOSS_PIMPALOTZ to decide what they're taking we've got a full house and I can get the mission packs finalised and sent out...

See you all there!

UPDATE 28/05/10

There has been a slight change to the first post - I am now asking for confirmation of attendance and army selection by the 1st of July, so any waverers have about 5 weeks.

A couple of clarifications - there is no minimum painting requirement (although you will obviously struggle to place in the painting and overall categories without it).

Each of the four missions will have 20 points on offer to be split between the two players (so scores will range from 20-0 to 10-10 depending on the level of victory).

There will be 10 points on offer for painting/modelling. This will be done ONCE in the day by a judge (so no chipmunking) and will be based on a ticksheet that will come out with the mission briefings.

Finally, there will be 10 points on offer for sportsmanship. You will have to rate your opponent out of 5 each game (in secret). Each players scores will be tallied to give a total out of 20 and then halved to give the final sportsmanship score out of 10.

All this will give you a maximum overall score of 100. Whilst unfortunately I can't offer prize support I will buy a pint or two for anyone scoring 90 or higher

Please note that pairings for the first two rounds will be randomly decided before the event. Pairings for rounds 3 and 4 will be based purely on generalship points.

Any questions, as always give me a shout.

What the hell is "chipmunking"?

The score is for modelling, so they have to make sure the models are built properly. Once during the day, a box of angry chipmunks are let loose on the army tables, and after everyone has capered around for a while trying to catch them, they judge your army. If it's still in one piece, you get points. Easy.

Will there be trophies?

If army judging's by chipmunks I'm gonne have to invest in some glue, don't think my blu-tac built models will stand up to that sort of scrutiny

I'm trying to get some trophies sorted at the mo but can't guarantee anything - a lot will depend on work/family (you know, all the boring crap that gets in the way of serious 40k business...)

Thanks again for all the effort going into doing this - I am looking forward to it immensely! Does it matter my name is spelt incorrectly on the first page - or have I been deluding myself that I am going, when in reality some "Araksi" has my spot?
