Actually, fast food can clear you out really quick.
Not that eating fast food should be a hobby.

Computer and console gaming generally costs me more than miniatures gaming, but I also glean considerably more use and entertainment out of that expenditure then I do 40k. I enjoy the game, but the intense requirements for actually enjoying that investment (I have to be at a place with a table, time, terrain, two armies, and another person that knows what they are doing) means it doesn't happen often.

Yeah, I Airsoft, Paintball, NERF, LARP, sew, and do Archery. Most of those are around the same monetary investment as wargaming, if not more, and the cheapest, NERF, is limited by the amount of releases within the year. New spring and O-ring costs do build up, though.

Gas ????
Definitely MUCH more expensive
Gun.
Glock .45 $530

Little less expensive
Boardgames
30 games @ ~$40 = $1200
Probably about comparable, maybe a little less expensive

Definitely MUCH more expensive, AND less enjoyable, with about the same amount to show at the end
Computer Games. Hard to say, since I've bought various systems over the years, probably about comparable, if not a little less
Kite Boarding. Not MY hobby, but a buddy of mine's
3 Kites $2000

Numerous trips to various places $2000
Definitely more expensive
Owning a Boat. Same buddy

I have no other hobbies, simply because of the TIME it costs me. Its odd, when I was in high school and college, I had lots of time, but no money, now I have the money, just no time!
I've stopped smoking weed, so basically all of my other hobbies involve making money. Not really the same league, is it? I mean, I've been in front of computers since I had the motor skills to interface with them, and not everything I do with them makes money... but computers and that field of gaming are my job as well as one of my major hobbies.
Karate/Aikido were hobbies that cost me about... $30 a week I guess, but it's been a few years now since I left home town and haven't picked them up again (you can always train by yourself!). There was a reasonable investment for trips to tournaments once or twice a year too, I suppose.
Oh, I forgot music. Most of the major one-off purchases in my lifetime have been keyboards/synthesizers, but I haven't had to spend much on that for a while either. I can do basically whatever I wantt with what I have now.
EDIT: My other hobby is growing my hair. That doesn't cost much. I haven't touched the poll because there's only a smartarse 'no' option.

My hobbies are meth and prostitutes. As such Games Workshop is clearly the more expensive.

A bizarre array of focusing mirrors and lenses turning my phrases into even more accurate clones of
Yep, it does/did.
In total, my Tau and Bret/VC armies, not to mention the paints and such, cost more than each other equipment-based hobby I do have. It cost more than my set of ski equipment, paintball equipment, Aikido gi/hakama, and fencing equipment individually.
The only difference is now annual cost of upkeep, but for equipment, Warhams is expensive.
I cant afford another hobby nor I want.
40k is enough "hobby" to fill every frickin free minute in my life.
Ok, it´s somewhat not a hobby anymore but well, you get it.

Golf
I bought my last set in 2001 at about $1,000. That does not include your woods or putter. So $100 for a putter, $400 for a driver $250 for a 3-wood. I didn't buy a hybrid (I should because my long irons suck).
Balls/tees/etc. $50/year
Greens Fees - $75
Depends on where you are, Chicago, $75 is a decent price for a decent course. You could go a lot cheaper and go muni courses or go big time at some really nice courses.
I actually wish I had more time to play golf.
Playing goalie, I usually get to play for free when I play, but hockey is definitely very expensive.
Not all hobbies have to cost a lot of money, but a lot do. If you get more enjoyment out of GW, then I say its worth every penny. I am getting older and less flexible so I'm starting to transition from hockey player to ork warboss.

I spend about the same each month on video games and 40k. I buy two new games on average each month, either for myself or gifts for friends (I buy people a lot of stuff for some reason). I usually try to only spend 100 dollars on 40k a month. On some months I spend a little more on others a little less. But I guess they are generally inexpensive considering my in come and living expenses.

I actually don't know...I spend a lot of money on videogames and recently got really hooked on pen & Paper RPGs, so I started spending money on that too.
But to be honest, I DO NOT want to know how much money I spend on miniatures.

Well, my fishing pole, just the pole, not a reel is 300. Figure with gas for the boat, bait, lures and misc. so yeah, I don't find 40k insanely expensive
