Heres a question for Chaos and Tyranid players,

My friend(Euannr) and I want to join our forces to fight a large
space marine and imperial gaurd army

Is it possible to join Tyranids(my army) and Chaos Space Marines/Daomons(Euannr's army)
The reason being is that I heard tyranids couldn't be bothered about Chaos as they are not Biomass.
Could Tyranids join with Necrons?
I would like peoples opinions on that please.

Actually if you create a story arch, yeah, its possible. Say the nids were attacking an imperium outpost. Seeking opportunity to crush their imperial foes, chaos jumped in and started helping the nids, seeking to weaken the imperials before crushing both xenos and space marines alike.

Yes, per fluff, Nids would not bother with demons. They would, however, attack CSM's cuz they are biomass. But if you skew it to where the chaos were attacking with the nids because the opportunity presented itself, sure.

Then again, if your like me, you just play to play. I've teamed up with space marines, tau, even eldar with my chaos and nids. It just depends on what kinda player you are

I've seen a game where Tyranid were allied with Tau. The excuse at the time was, "Tau-genestealer hybrid cult." Genestealer cult infiltration would explain a lot of Tyranid alliances, but I don't think it would quite cover Necrons. You could try something about a Necron force experimenting with manipulating a hive fleet fragment, basically pointing the ravenous horde at the other side and getting ready to clean up after the fighting's done.

However you hand wave it, the thing to do is to schedule a battle for the former allies to attack each other, just to keep it reasonable.

From a fluff perspective, the Tyranids would never side with another race. They would devour both sides or perish in the attempt. Even with genestealer cults, the cult is mainly just for the purposes of weakening PDF's and the life and making the invasion easier.

Just say the Chaos Gods have communicated with the Hive Mind via the warp.

And they have came to an "understanding" and will kill the emperium's forces first.

When my group has an Order vs Disorder brawl, my Sorcerer Lord Nikolii has a deep psychic connection with my friend's Hive Tyrant (their fluff is entwined). They hate each other almost beyond reason, but without each other they have nothing to live for. They put aside the hunt if other forces get in the way.

Just remember, the Synapse creatures are generally semi-sentient.

EDIT: If any of you have watch Gargoyles all the way through, they are like Demona and Macbeth, minus the transforming.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

This came up a while back in another thread.

There's no reasoning with the Hive Mind. It is an utterly alien construct. It doesn't negotiate, it doesn't reason, it doesn't even communicate. It's primal and instinctual - not evil or manipulative. It would never join with Chaos not because it chooses not to, but because the very concept of an 'alliance' would never even be thought of.

For that reason, Tyranids would never work for or alongside Chaos. At least, that is, not wittingly. It is possible, I'd assume, for Chaos to affect the Hive Mind (or isolate organisms from it and then control them) or direct a Splinter Fleet where it wants it to go - but there would be no 'alliance' between the two.

So by all means, fight alongside your Chaos friend, but understand that from a fluff perspective you're not allied with one another, the Tyranids have either been manipulated into that position, or just happen to be at the same place as the Chaos forces.

In our fluff, Nikolii touched the mind of the Tyrant when he tried to kill him with his force weapon. It didn't work (blasted Errata), but the Tyrant shared his mind with Nikolii and it began to change. It started to really think, despite the Hive Mind.

The psychic creatures have the capacity to be sentient, I should have said. They can make tactical decisions, they can think, but not about other things. This particular Hive Tyrant was opened up to a new way of thinking by a deeply troubled individual.

EDIT: Just so you know, I nearly lost that game because of the Errata.

In Storm of Iron, the Iron Warriors infect a tyranid hive ship with the obliterator virus to use as a carrier.

If they caught a ship with a norn queen on it and infected it in that way...or caused the norn queen to become possessed... There's your fluff, the norn queen directs the other tyranids and you get a cascade effect as they serve the now possessed/corrupted/infected norn queens psychic orders.

STORM OF IRON p. 86
Once, long ago, this vessel had plied the icy depths of space in the unutterable vastness between galaxies, home and locus to billions of creatures linked together in a gestalt consciousness, enslaved to the imperative to consume biological matter and reproduce. It had drifted from world to world, stripping each bare of life, each creature within its shared mind acting in perfect concert with the vast overmind. This had come to an end when the Warsmith had caused its neural pathways to become infected with the same techno-virus that infested the insane Obliterators, severing the vital link between the massive parent vessel and its offspring, stripping away the smothering blanket of belonging from the swarm.
No one knew how long the leviathan had fought the infection before the Warsmith's sorcerers had defeated its defenses and dragged the barely sentient carcass to the Eye of Terror. Perhaps the creature-ship had thought it was to be granted succour, but in that regard it was to be sorely mistaken.

Why not? Chaos would use whatever sources available to further its needs. Now from a fluff standpoint this wouldn't be an alliance, IMO no way would Chaos link with such an alien force as the Hive Mind. They would know the end result... however, Chaos certainly would bend and use the Hive Mind, and by rote the Tyranids as shock troops. They would send them in first... after all, they are lesser beings in the eyes of chaos and therefore good for fodder... and then come in behind and finish up business.

The Hive Mind and Chaos don't really work well. The whole LOLWE'REBLOCKINYERPSYKERS thing tends to stop daemons from messing with planetary consumption. I'm not saying that Tzeentch couldn't somehow try to manipulate a hive fleet, but it wouldn't be as simple as mind controlling the Tyranids.

'course you can do it mate.
Fluff is what you need. Write an interesting back story that makes sense, and I'd let ya play me. Even in Dawn of War, the Chaos manage to trick the orks to do their bidding. I dont see why they couldnt have a psycher tap into one of the more powerful synapse creatures of the Tyranids and control them, or somthing like that.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?
