Thanks guys! The rivets took an age to do, next time i apply them i think i may buckle and buy some pre-cut ones!

On a side note, the Dettol looks to have worked a charm on a spare resin turret i had lying around. WIll show the results in a bit. Bodes well for the warhound though!

July 13th - 26 days to Apoc


Here's an update on the Dettol, test subject is an old FW Vanquisher turret. Here's what it looked like before, in its Dettol bath:



And afterwards, after a night soaking and a light scrub:




As you can see it works a treat, the paint sloughs off to no visible detriment to the resin. Perfect!

Time to soak the Warhound!

July 16th - 24 Days to Apoc

Right im off to Portugal until the 3rd of August, so i wont be updating this thread for a while I may have some time to check on Dakka now and then though, so dont stop commenting

However, i made a big push to get all the card skimming done before i left, and i achieved it! It means when i get back from Portugal it will be full steam ahead on the trimming, gap-filling and detailing. The bulk is done!

The end is most definitely in sight, and more importantly, the end is in sight before the Apoc deadline

Got a bit of spare time on holiday.

Had a chat to my mate before i left, he had a small mock-up of the table we're going to be "making" for the Apocalypse and it looked fething sweet. Should be a very fun build-up to the deadline.

Do you think i should make a separate blog detailing the terrain building or put it here?

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous of your battlefield. Love the huge burn/scorch marks on the buildings. Also, I like those servitors- particular the conversion beamer. (I've heard this term a lot... have no idea what that weapon is though... time to look it up)

And looking sweet for the Titan... 11 days, man... can you finish??

Conversion beamer is a very archaic piece of tech from the Heresy, very rare use, so a standard, run of the mill relic weapon. And just like any standard relic, it has some pretty cool stats. It powers up over distance, eventually going 48"-72" at strength 10 and AP 2, if memory serves right (I'm too lazy to get out a codex-- sue me), but misses after that in terms of GW existence, it was last officially on a model back in the everything's metal days, which is still generally used as a standard for how it should look.

8 days now! I can finish the Warlord (painted as well) which is the only real concern tbh.

Heres the progress so far.

First some Planetstrike terrain:






Then the progress of the Warlord. The legs are done bar riveting, as is the torso, the volcano cannon is wip and the plans have been drawn for the melta cannon for the other arm. After that its just the base and paint. Have bought various coloured spraypaints for quick basecoats, and the airbrush will be used to highlight, followed by a few hand painted details. The plan is to finish all building by Sunday night, then spend 1 day painting basecoats, leaving 4 days to put final touches on it. After that blabble, here are the pics...

LOL... still, stellar job on them.

My "club" also consists of slackers, er... I'm the only one who actually works on a regular basis on minis, hence I've been nominated to model 5 TS Deathwatch marines... who will also make an appearance in our soon-to-be resurrected Promethean Hammer =I= Munda campaign.

And absolutely awesome for that scratch build titan... It's looking near-on complete man, at least structurally. The details going into it are awesome too! Perhaps after grad school, I can attempt a Phantom or Revenant Eldar-type myself...?

Thanks as always, I should think it would be far easier (and less emotionally draining) to buy the FW Phantom.. Seriously though, its been a fun experience and i would reccommend scratch-building, on any scale, its really good fun.

The Apocalypse game was a great success, and we all had a lot of fun. I come away feeling very tired after a few late nights painting followed by the full weekend Apocalypse game.
