Hi all

Been working on some designs for aquila bases ready for launch as we try to fill the gaps in the ranges and tart up older designs as our skills have improved Everything black will be engraved / opaque, everyhting white will be transparent. One of the things that surprised us was people wanting to keep the bases clear, so I'm wondering whether people prefer the more heavily engraved bases as they have a bit more detail, or less detailed but more transparent bases. If left clear the engraved parts glow a really nice white when on terrain, so I think a whole army on heavily engraved bases would look frickin' sweet, but let us know your preferences as it will affect our future designs!

Haven't found time for much else this week, as work has been crazy so Ed has been doing most of the work . Besides work, the weekend went to hell when one of my cats got himself run over! Cue midnight trip to the vet's, as well as several x-rays and another trip back when he managed to get his bandage off the sod! I did do a bit of painting, been trying out some of the P3 Formula paints from our FLGS for my armies on parade Guard, as well as an Army Painter spray. Both are hot, we did try and find some Vallejo paints for Ed this weekend but no joy

Did a bit more on the turret for the Valkyrie kit as well, pics will be posted when there's more to show. Comments on whether people prefer more engraved or more transparent bases would be appreciated, maybe we'll start a poll at some point when the to-do list is a little less intimidating.

Cheers all
Harry

Bases look beautiful as always! Yeah, I really like the idea of the clear bases, i like it to look as much like the model is standing on nothing at all as possible! But with light engraving it makes me thing of like a RTS game... something like

WarMill's cat, kitty cat. A cat barely alive.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic cat. WarMill's cat will be that cat. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster...

The £600 cat!

Hope he gets better soon.

Lol nice one

He's doing fine just grumpy. If he had lost the leg I could've got my work to knock him up a new one, we've done legs for horses and even a peregrine falcon before. He really would've been a bionic cat!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, I lost sympathy for him about £500 ago ;P

Hi all

Just a quick update to say we've had a productive couple of evenings on the old website and you can now buy stuff without ever having to talk to us! We're still working on the site, adding lots of pictures and refining everything, filling in text here and there and what have you, but you can now browse our stock product ranges and exchange monies for sweet sweet bases! We'll be finishing it off over the next week or 2 (are these things ever really finished? ) but the shopping cart is functional and we've even had our first order off it just 12 hours after getting it online

Keep checking the site, we'll be adding new products pretty regularly!

Cheers all

Thanks for the comments

Still taking time to nail things down, but using a site builder really helped a ton! Means we can get back to making cool stuff sooner! Any requests or suggestions for that matter, on what things we could work on next? I Think we'll be collating all our work that we have dabbled in and get that sorted - esp those command squad bases, adding more races, maybe embellish the movement tray range...and maybe even an armies on parade type board...

We're thinking of adding bulk and discounted rates on certain products / ranges...and adding small army box base sets that would compliment the different boxed sets on offer from the games company that shall not be named

I think I'm going to stop writing, the list is getting longer!

I wonder since you used rapid prototyping for your orky boss display piece wether you are planning to use that technique anymore or was it a one time deal? for instance the dread hammer might have come out nicely in a nice high detail nylon powder?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'd also like to make a request... decent orkish huge heavy armour replacement as the GW mega armour is soooo b*!!*cks as to be not even funny anymore.

The main reason for using the cnc is the fact it's sat in my dining room and we don't have to pay anyone to use it! Its also quite handy for cutting the masters for resin bases as we can make them in a recess that makes pouring silicon moulds really easy, and also masters for bigger 2-part moulds as seen in our valkyrie thread. The downside is the hours spent scratching my head working out how to avoid undercuts.

We're lucky enough to know someone in the RP industry who did us a deal on the stand, whether we use it again depends on how much he really likes us!

And new ork armour would be awesome, we certainly need to expand the Brutal Ork range...

the need for a decent (possibly true scale) ork mega armour alternative is Dire in my opinion,

No Games Wrokshop I am not going to pay your extortioate prices for a undramatic lump of resin/metal that looks just like the other three I already bought from you............

I am of the belief that the model needs more dramatic posing options however I have found a thread on this board with a kitbashed Ghazghkul that's almost perfect
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/359759.page I don't know how possible this piece or a new model based losely around this piece would be with a cnc machine... undercutts a plenty there I think.

I posted these in another thread, but thought I would post them here as well:

I put it on black so that the engraving showed up. When you are viewing it on regular surfaces the lines kind of vanish and you get a cloudy effect - you actually get quite a good effect.

These are obviously extreme close ups, but from normal tabletop range it looks good.

As I said in WarMill's thread, I think these fully engraved bases would only work if you are having a very minimal contact area on the base (my army is all jump pack, so there is going to be very little base/model interface so most of the base will be seen).

I'm also going to paint the squad markings just to make them easier to see.

Hi all

Sneaky peek at some bits we did yesterday, we'll get some better pics up after a photo sesh tonight. Expect to see the big bases on our website soon, they can be used either as a large figure base (they're large flying stand sized) or as a command squad display base where each figure has part of the engraving on their base.

Enjoy, comments / suggestions always appreciated

Sexy mirrored multi-part big base. Flyers and, oh, I don't know, Dreadknights would look pretty hot methinks.

We did Chaos stars and the like all the way back on page 3!!

I think your the first to request any Tau, in our poll Tau got 14% of the votes, which is sort of along the same lines as the rest of the armies we listed - so maybe at some point!!

Page 3, eh? I'll have a look. Armor panels or "robot chests" for alternate XV8 torsos would be neat. hell, even jetpack replacements/upgrades would be nice-nothing anime-y, but something that actually, you know...goes together! XD

Yeah we were in discussion about producing generic imperial bases - heck - most people can use a double headed eagle we thought! Harry busied himself drafting them up and made a great job of them!!

Conversion kits is something we're very much interested in, once the bases are done and dusted Haz wants to make new marine jump packs as far as i know - I personally have a soft spot for Tau

Didn't get in the workshop for photos what with it being wet and me being tired from having the family down all weekend, but i took some pics in the kitchen that make the aquila bases look like they're made of gold. Painting of bases and proper pics will occur soon, honest!
