I was sitting here pondering a GT that I'm attending next month....3,000 miles away....
And it made me wonder how much of an actual nerd I am. There are levels of nerdiness. I admit that.
Level 1 nerdiness: I can't watch the game this weekend, I'm going to go play 40k.
Level 2 nerdiness: That's incorrect, it was actually Horus who struck the mortal blow on the emperor.
Level 3 nerdiness: Look, I don't have my rulebook here, but if you make a note to turn to page 67, on the right side under the second paragraph where it says...
Level 4 nerdiness: Yes honey, that laungerie looks really nice...I just need to finish assembling this model.
Level 5 nerdiness: I know that I could make an extra mortgage payment with this money I've been saving, but I would rather fly across the country to play with little plastic men with other nerds.
Where do you fit in?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

A while back, I pointed out to someone that the Assault Cannon really DOES have a better chance to Pen AV14 than a Lascannon. I even proved it with math.
That kind soul awarded me +1 internetz as thanks, but I already had one, so I craigslisted that bad boy and traded it for her and sweet set of gently used speakers.

I'd love to have the time to be more of a 40k nerd, but between school (clinical microbiology has conspired to OMNOM large chunks of my time), work, and socializing there's barely enough time to slap some paint on a few boyz each week. Spring break is coming though, and I'm gonna roll out with my new Kan wall at the FLGS, probably with some battle missions to boot.

Level 2.5. I can't cite page numbers, but I know the rules backwards. In some cases better that the person who actually plays that army. Like the BT player who wasn't shure what Rightious Fury did. That's like a necron player not knowing what WBB does, admittidly, and almost everyone knows what WBB does, but still.

About a 2.5. I don't have specific passages memorized in the BGB, but I know them pretty well. And since I am still a guy, seeing a woman in lingerie would make me look up from whatever the hell I'm doing at the moment.

Level 3, tops. I know fluff and rules fairly well, but not much about specific codexes other than the armies I play.

I'm L5 by the way. ><
I'm totally flying across the country next month to go to a GT.
This past weekend I went to the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre - 7 hours of driving to get in a weekend's gaming.
It was my wife's birthday on Saturday (she came with me).
She also has bronchitis, and we drove 7 hours north.
She's a trooper.

Although mine is happier when I'm doing my GW thing than when I'm playing computer games, because she considers GW less nerdy... ?
I'm sitting around 3. The other day I quoted someone the exact page, where on it and the cost FOR THEIR CODEX, but I missed the points cost on my own codex by 10 points lol. Likewise there has been times where my girl promised sex if I came to bed, but I just had to finish painting my Path Finders! But generally speaking sex >>>>>>>> GW
