Yeah, the whole bronze, silver, gold, platinum Lord thing makes me think of them like they're Visa or Mastercards or something.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I want a Necron Lord made from one of the hardest metals (if not THE hardest metal) known to man: Diamond.

I do like the idea of naming some of the chars though. They are made of people, after all.

Uranium and Plutonium Lords FTW!
But yeah, I want to see Necron warriors becoming a bit more interesting. I actually like the current tomb spyder, but I'd love to see necrons get a non monolith vehicle.

My biggest complaint was the lack of vehicles for Necrons. I'm a bit of a treadhead and the fact that the brick was their only vehicle was a real drag for me.

They should have more defensive vehicles - I'm thinking turrets, etc that cannot move. These should be in reserves and can deep-strike in to the table, fulfilling both the "Planet-Defense" and "OMG it came from nowhere" parts of the fluff.

Malfred: Terminator Armor has always had room for extra boobage.
Drake_Marcus: It's true- that's why the Space Wolves love termie armour so much. The whole "bear" thing they've got going on is just a thinly veiled cover-up of their huge, hairy cleavage.

Now I don't know if I'll make a Wall-E Iron Warrior Lord or a Wall-E Necron Lord.

Maybe I'll make the Necron Lord look like Number Five instead.

But Reese, Sergeant Tech-Com DN38416 would have had to tenderly make it with the Space Emperor's mother.

I bet you'd need a team of Carnifexii or a starcruiser to pull free of that yoni.

"Uranium and Plutonium Lords FTW!"

Actually thats not a bad idea, they could have like a "Radioactive" Special rule that makes nearby enemies take toughness tests or suffer a wound. And hey, if you wanted to make Crons overpowered make it so the lord conveys that ability to all necron models in the list. That would kick rectal openings!

The problem is that they're both Undead MEQs. So overlap is bound to happen.

40kenthusiast wrote:Changes I'm hoping for include:

Remove current Phase Out rule (incompatible with 5th edition mission objectives)

I agree it needs to be removed. (It is a poorly written rule that leads to arguments). But it's in no way incompatible with 5th edition mission objectives. It sounds like you're making up reasons to get rid of it.

40kenthusiast wrote:
Re-institute Phase Out in a better way (units that route phase out?)

I agree 100%. There is talk that they'll remove phase out. I think that's a big mistake and a lost opprotunity to make the Necrons unique. Orks have a unique morale method. Necrons could do something similar. For instance, make them Fearless for as long as there is at least one other model of the same type on the board. It could then be subject to a rule similar to "last man standing" to represent the unit phasing out.

40kenthusiast wrote:
Make the Necron rule include Stubborn, so that Defensive Crons can return.

No! Since when are Necrons stubborn or show any emotion other than hatred? Necrons are fearless.

40kenthusiast wrote:
Improve Necron CC units (wraiths/pariahs/tomb spyders/flayed ones)

Necrons do need a boost in the close combat department.

40kenthusiast wrote:
Weaken Necron anti-infantry shooting (immortals/destroyers)

I'd be fine with that if the points cost went down too.

40kenthusiast wrote:
Improve Necron anti-tank (I know, an odd request, but 5th necessitates it)

I agree! Tons of glancing hits on the new damage table aren't very impressive. I think they need Rending to be honest. It always seemed strange that a weapon that can rip things apart down to the atomic level was so powerfull that it could tear through meters of tank armor... yet not strong enough to go through personal armor or flesh and bone. Rending is a nice synthesis or game mechanics.

This actually doesn't surprise me.

We get yet another MEQ release while there are non-MEQs that still need work

But Necrons can be done quickly and cheaply, with hardly any thought.

Yay.

Not.

I know that Fearless has been a subject of contention for Necron fans, but the description of the 'cron warriors states that while they show/have no emotion, they do make sound tactical decisions, allowing them to regroup and retreat (according to normal morale rules). Perhaps if the Fearless rule was optional for Necrons, allowing them to use it or not based on the advantages of the situation, it would work better? Or an alternate morale system for Necrons...

The deep-striking stationary turrets have been discussed on another thread... "Obelisks" I think they were called. Also allowed 'crons within a certain distance to Teleport through them as a Monolith would, giving them an "extra" WBB roll. A kind of mini-lith...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Rumors brought to the community by Warseer's Brimstone and MoonlightSonata

~Interesting if true, and these would seem to dovetail nicely with the last set of Necron rumors we heard several months ago. A Q2 release slot seems odd unless there is some issue with mini or codex development with several of the other codices which are older (Wolves and Dark Eldar mainly). Still I would applaud the move if only to rid the game of the wonkiness and arguments that We'll Be Back can generate. As usual, Caveat emptor folks.

So the recent block of 40k releases looks like this:
- Codex: Chaos Space Marines (Daemons are really a WFB release)
- WD Blood Angels
- 5th Edition Rulebook
- Assault on Black Reach (new Marine plastics, with "free" Orks)
- Codex: Space Marines

And then moving forward its:
- WD Space Wolves
- Codex: Necrons

IMO, a full year of MEQ-only releases seems to be just a little bit excessive.

But, at least we're going to get Imperial Guard next year. I'm looking forward to that!

Tho if they decide to redo Black Templars before then, I'm going to strangle somebody...
