Funny, because the same thing could be said about Dakka. Honestly, try saying anything against any of the regulars here and you get jumped all over very quickly.

Too true.

Yep, for those of you that never got to see Marc Parker try to reason with Stelek and in so doing...make him look silly...

...some posts that got moderated by him concerning the ridiculous accusation of Parker using loaded dice by Stelek...

Ofc it wouldn't be this thread if there wasn't a reference to wrecking crew.

Honestly I have seen plenty of nasty comments towards him in the comments section that he lets fly. I really don't think he mods it that much if at all.

But please, continue making fun of the guy who called you out for making a crappy FAQ with a ton of rules changes. (even though a lot of people in this thread said they are against changing rules in the FAQ) Cause it must be only him that has a problem with your FAQ.

Just to add, the community does need members like Stelek to call out the big people when they do something stupid. Too many people just sit back and don't say anything. Not saying this is the worst of it. But we need people to stand up for things that they believe to be wrong so that those in power don't just push their beliefs on everyone.

(not to drag up old things, but there was very little, if any, complaining about the cheating that happened at last years ard boyz until stelek said something.)

Anyways, even if he does, that not the focus of this thread. Besides all the 40k forums do it, so whats the big deal if he does. (not that I think he does)

1. Stelek is quite capable of defending himself.
2. It'd be very hypocritical to call him a victim in this, considering his bile-filled rant was directed personally at Gwar!, Yak and mkerr, and indirectly at everyone here and at BoLS.

Because other people read it and take its answers to be official. Just like the one at BoLS. Then you have to play these people in tournaments and the like.

And thanks to sportsmanship scores then you become the bad guy and suffer because you point out to him that he read something that has a rule answered incorrectly.

Believe me, it causes problems.

Interesting. I've yet to attend a tourney in various states that treat these fanbased FAQ's as official. If it is such a problem for you, maybe you should check with the TO ahead of time to see if they will be utelizing one. It's not been an issue for me playing in Florida, NC or Arizona.

IIRC, each and every one of these FAQs state they are unofficial, so I can't fathom how a reader can misunderstand that.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Any tournament organiser worth his salt will specify which rules and FAQs are in use in the join-up pack.

It may cause a problem when players insist their preferred version of a rule overrules the TO, but that is a problem with the player, not the FAQ.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I didn't say TO's...
(even though I am sure plenty of TO's would do it)

I am talking about players. They accept things like this as the truth. Then because you point out their wrong, you get dinged in sportsmanship.

Or they play things wrong and start to not even know the real rules.

Its a slippery slope that does not help the hobby.

That's still individual players' fault. If people insist on acting like drongos you and I can't stop them.

What would help the hobby more than anything is GW issuing (A) books that had been planned and edited properly (B) timely and accurate FAQs when needed.

Obviously.

However, people publishing house rules and touting them as official FAQ's is not good for the hobby.

Yes, I agree. Clearly it's easy to mistake "The Unofficial Space Wolf FAQ" for an official FAQ.

What on earth did old Yakkie do to him? Burn his house down? Rape his wife? Steal his identity?

I don't believe anyone has done that from what I've seen. Maybe 'official' Adepticon or 'official' BoLSCon FAQ's but never saying they are GW Official. Even Gwar! has touted it as an unofficial FAQ. If someone reads 'unofficial' and thinks 'GW put this out!', I think brain injury.

No, it was worse than all that. Yakkie told him to stop acting like....well, like how he acts on his site.

Gwar, while I agree with you that you very clearly state its unofficial and such.

Look at some of the stupid questions people asked in your FAQ or some of the intelligence of certain people on the internet.

You gotta know that people will look at it like its the infallible truth.

Wow that is an awful lot of vitrol aimed at Gwar. I suppose that is an indication how the general public views his SW FAQ. The thing I find the most funny is that the F i n FAQ stands for Frequently. How can there seriously be any frequently asked questions for a codex not yet released to the general public. To me it is not cool to FAQ a codex prior to its release. Gwar is also trying to build his own zombie cult in my opinion. I think people need to be very much aware of that. Also I will say here I get so tired of seeing KK constantly defend Gwar. If I did not know better I would say you are mates.

Yes, I know what the F stands for, and yes, I have been asked each one of those frequently. You see, people go OUTSIDE and look at the pre-release codex in their local stores. Then they come here and ask me because they know that they will get an accurate answer.

Also, lol. KK Defending me?

People asking you frequently??? Do you really think you are the center of the GW universe?

A majority of questions can be answered simply by picking up a rulebook or codex and reading what is written on its pages.

I find Gwar!'s publication of a FAQ confusing, because he appears to be attempting to induce people to cheat. Several times, posts of his (or hers) have contained statements that a person who does not play according to rules is a cheater, yet several of the answers in his FAQ are changes to rules in the Space Wolves codex.

Is there an explanation for this puzzling behavior?
