Update time!

First some replies:

@Cardinal Xaphan: I considered the sentinel head, but since I´ve already used that elsewhere, I wanted to try something different. I think a lot of people are making (dread)Knights out there, this kit is just begging for it.

@Asherian Command, Sageheart: Thanks, glad you like it.

@CommissarKhaine: Thanks, yeah the head is kinda big, but to me it looks better now that it´s obviously mobile and not fixed. I´ll try to get a comparison shot with the big guy next Tuesday, forgot my camera last night...

@Yggdrasil: Thanks, glad you like it, it was a lot of work, but fortunately I think it came out good.

@Red_Skullz: Heheh, thanks, and loot away!

--------------------------------

Okay, so I´ve been working on fixing the sword for a few days now, and after some botched attempts, I have something I feel ready to show you guys.

Here´s an early WIP shot, lots of detailing to go, the teeth are actually sharpened on the bottom edge, but it´s not really visible now that it´s all white...

A piece from a manufactorum lends a head..

Detail shot of the back edge, almost done!

and closeup of the front, very very close to done now.

Here are all the pieces of the Paladin. Everything is magnetized, I even found some tiny 2mm magnets at my FLGS, so the banner pole is magnetized! This will help a lot during transport, and to prevent breakage.

and finally, a shot of the Knight as it stands right now, some work still to do, mostly on the missile launcher which is just tacked on for now.
It will get some cabling, and probably a scope or sight of some kind.

I´ve also secured a Mechanicus icon, which will be hung from the banner top, as a charm. And I need to finish off the waist, with rivets and cabling. But the build part of this project is almost done! Yay!

Looking nice! The Tempus fugitives site has rules for them as well, they're pretty nice.

@CommissarKhaine: Thanks a lot, yeah I checked out those rules, will use them if I ever get to go to an Apocalypse event.

@shingouki: thanks, it´s my third attempt, a true labor of love..

@bigfish: Thank you, I usually try to go outside what´s been done before, glad it worked this time. I can highly recommend this kit, there are so many ways to build it and change it, some others here on Dakka as well. I´ll put up some more fluff for my next update, have been working on the unit structure mainly.
The idea of sentinel size Knights, like "Outriders" perhaps, is really nice, but I´m not sure what I would count them as in the GK list... But I do want more walkers in my list. Hmm....

@HiveFleet: Thanks a lot.

Epicness, I really like it, looks better than the NDK, and the reposing does the kit justice

Stunning creation! The details are really mind blowing, and that chainsword...Perfect!

It kind of reminds me of a scaled down titan, specifically the Lucius Pattern warhound.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks a lot for the encouragement guys, it really helps me keep motivated.

I had a less than stellar day yesterday, the good thing is nothing got broken, but I was unable to find one of the valves for my airbrush, so my first day alone in the house for weeks was wasted looking for said valve, without success.

And as I was packing everything up, I bumped the Knight which fell over hard, almost giving me a heart attack...
I´ll be going to my airbrush shop today to get a replacement for the missing bit, but wow, what a day...

Oh my, I hope everything's fine now...

If it's damaged, you can always convert the chips into "battle damage"?

Well I guess an update is a bit overdue here... Since my last one, I´ve gotten a new job, working part time at my LFGS while I´m studying.

This means, apart from having even less time for actual painting stuff, that I´ve gotten access to a rather excellent airbrush which I´ve been testing out on the Walker.

Here are some shots of where the beast is at now.

A shot of the cockpit. It´s almost done, but still haven´t found the perfect head for the pilot.

Here´s the front end of the flamer. I´ve attempted some metallic blending. Not done yet.

The legs. I´m really happy about these, did am lot of firsts while painting them, the checkers were airbrushed, first blue, then the fade to almost black, then masked, airbrushed yellow and the fade to dark yellow/brown.

Another shot of the legs.

The sword, barely started. I need to come up with something clever for it.

And a full frontal. The main body still needs chipping and such, and the weapons need loads of work still. And after this stage is done, it´ll be on to basing and weathering + dust.

That´s all for now, just wanted to let you know that I`m still alive, also I´ve been doing lots and lots of Flames of War minis lately, half a tiger company (7 Tigers plus support) and two british infantry armies so far... Might even have some pictures of them eventually.

It looks great Xan, fantastic airbrushing, nice to see you are actually alive as well!

Although im afraid im still not too fond of the cockpit, but thats just my personal preference.

Thanks Vitruvian, glad you like it.

I realize the "horse head" vibe is a bit of a long shot, but having made it I need to use it.

It is, admittedly, very big.

Also, I forgot to mention, the rose on the left shinguard will be repeated elsewhere on the model as part of his personal heraldic symbol. In the manner it is displayed here, it should denote his house or allegiance.

I really like this guy. Great scratch building and kit bashing, along with great painting, and photograpy. This thread is full of win.

I am wondering what would happen if another one was built, a bit different. I like the idea of sawing the torso in half, from top to bottom. Then moving the cockpit back in between the 2 halves.

Maybe a conversion idea for the next one?

Hmm, might be indeed. I´m still considering making another one, though with work, school and familay all competing, plus two oncoming comissions for FoW, my time will be limited to say the least...

Good idea to have a side project going on then. Even if it goes slowly. Always nice to have a personal project to retreat to if necessary.

Great looking work all around.

That thing looks fabulous, Xanthos. The sword is coming alone and I like all the "honour" "salvation" and the "M/3" bit on it's heel hydraulic. Great touches.

Thanks a lot. I felt that those cylinders needed to be tech´ed up a bit, so that´s where the text and warning symbol came from.

As for the "Honour" and "Salvation", I kinda liked the idea of the original having text on it, but what was there before didn´t work for my purposes at all. So I found some that did.

I´m finding waterslides to be much easier now, since discovering a local train shop that carriead Micro Sol and Set. Suddenly they get perfect adhesion and follow curves wonderfully.
