yeah, Battle Foam wrote:... Battle Foam will open its new UK based warehouse/production facility early next month ... The Custom Tray Creator will be available as always to allow everyone to build their own layouts ...
This is great news. I'm working out my dark eldar load out as we speak! (waiting on GW to release the venom so I know it's shape) Hopefully Wayland will adjust their prices now that transatlantic shipping has been removed from their costs. Panic...

Oh guys, I just want to point out that in the next few weeks the pricing for shipping will change on our sites. As of now the UK warehouse is just getting up and running so shipping to the UK will still be set as normal.
We will make a big announcement on our site when the shipping changes will actually take place. Anyone ordering before that will be charged the higher prices since those orders will still ship from the US.
Wayland Games may have a different policy so please contact them on the shipping rates currently being offered. I know they will apply any changes allowed once full production goes into effect in the coming weeks.
Just an FYI

Excellent news, since I just bought my 720, and may yet have to return to the UK next month I'll be able to get all the trays I need!
Too bad I no longer live near 'Sarfend' though!

I'm rather pleased with this announcement. Especially considering I placed an order with Wayland for a BattleFoam product in January and it is still displayed as Out of Stock. :( Hopefully this new venture should result in my order being shipped that little bit quicker!

Hi Lycaeus, we know how frustrating it is. This move will make a massive difference. Our last order took nearly 11 weeks to get here from when it left BF and it makes it very difficult to manage expectations, not even the freight companies can give us an exact date once in transit which leads to entertaining sweepstakes.
If you do have an order outstanding you should see it arrive this week or next as last weeks container is sorted and allocated to orders.

@BF
Question on your foam... I'm planning a DE layout, too. I plan on doing something rather unorthodox, though.
I thought I recalled seeing a comment in a thread once that said you guys can provide the bits of foam that were cut out, at our request.
Is that true?
I plan on doing some models on their sides (transports), but I'll need foam for them to lay on, so the various bits that project from them don't get damaged. My choices would be to trim down a BF piece that already fits the cut out, or to use (insert competetor here) "pull outs" glued in the right shape and depth.
Thanks.

Great news, I already have a Pack 1520 and an IG loadout but I was contemplating looking into trays for some of my other model ranges from PP and Wyrd so this is going to work out well for me.

One question: Does the UK store sell directly to retailers, or are Wayland and Maelstrom the European distributors?
My store (and many European retailers) won't buy from Wayland and Maelstrom for obvious reasons.

No Kroothawk there are no obvious reasons, none that make any sense.
We at Wayland are still the Distributors to retail. If your local store has an issue with stocking a product that with little effort will be a great addition to their sales then that's a decision for them. All the stores that stock it now sell good quantities. We have worked very hard at developing sales of Battlefoam in Europe and have invested a fortune in stock so we can ship to store quicker and quicker. And now we get restocks of core items almost instantly so the stores that are taking it are selling more and more.
Any competitor of ours that has something we want to stock we would still want it, If we distribute an item, we don't discount at all. We don't abuse any of the distributor relationships we might have. Stores that deal with us will know we work extremely hard getting them product, and we give them priority over our own stock holding always.

My local store has no issue with stocking Battlefoam, it has an issue with getting them from a distributor specialized in hurting FLGSs and the local gaming communities depending on them. It just can't be convinced to finance the company most damaging to its sales. Nothing personal though.

Online discounters are hurting FLGS, that much is obvious.
Even so, it's incredibly stupid for a FLGS to refuse to do business with them out of spite.

What's hurting FLGSs is the price of GW's product. It's so ridiculously engorged now that a very sizeable chunk of the wargaming community are prepared to go to the effort of ordering online and having to wait for their toys to be dispatched by mail.
If the price were lower, people would be more comfortable with buying locally at full rrp.
The online stores are simply providing a service caused by people seeking a lower price. Now that is always going to exist to an extent, but the grotesque price currently touted by GW has made more and more turn to the online discounters.
If you want someone to point a finger at and cry 'J'accuse' at, it isn't the discount store, it's the corporation.

As you are in Germany and not actually around to see what these stores are doing you will be shocked to know that Maelstrom actually have a bricks and motar store with a huge gaming hall. They recently had Warmahordes European Team tournament there with other 160 folks from over 8 nations.
These guys support ALL ranges of the hobby from GW, PP, Flames of War, Malifaux, Infinity and more. They put on tournies, hobby camps, intro games and generally sell a crap load of stock. I know Wayland don't have a gaming hall (or do they? forgive me if they do) but they are getting so much of the hobby out to everyone. I've got in to games simply from buying them at first sight from their website.
If anything companies like this are HELPING the community. They are selling a more varied and larger range of miniatures and hobby supplies than hobby shops ever have.
The problem this business has is that people who produce the miniatures SELL them and then SELL them on again to trade stores. I can't think of many other companies that do this. Online traders will always discount more and it's something companies have to take in to account. If they were unhappy from it they would tell them in their terms and conditions. (although Maelstrom and Flames of War did fall out over something around this)

So people only buy GW stuff online? Better let Maelstrom and Wayland know that there's no need to stock all those other ranges then.

Try not to be too naive in thinking that everyone has access to a big FLGS. Hell before I moved to Bristol for university I did not have anything remotely close to me.
