Great work on the World Eaters. I like doing faces, but am not as good, yet, as you are. Maybe I should do them first. I have a partially constructed Space Marine Captain on my bench right now. Your blog made me dig through my bits to find his unhelmeted head.

I've just never really fallen into he finding faces hard rut that some people seem to fall into. I like experimenting with different glazes and shadows, but you can get a nice face with 2 flesh tones and a white/ivory. Darren lathem does a really good face tutorial. I usually start with a base tone, follow with a wash of cadian fleshtone or darkoath flesh contrast. Once this is dry I'll paint the eyes, before moving onto layering up the lighter skin tones.

Had a few days away visiting the in laws, so I've been itching to get back to these builds. On the plus side, I had some sweet bits waiting for me when I arrived.

Phoenix spear for the big guy, aswell as a vintage metal pauldron. Still need a power pack, as I don't like how bulky the chaos packs are. I feel they distract from the elements I want to be focused on. Going to try a MK2 pack and see how that looks instead.

Finished a couple of other guys too. I'm going full RoC modellers delight with these. Doing the WYSIWYG with the world eaters was a fun challenge, but it's way more fun just letting rip with the bits box.

Very good looking, and I do agree that csm power packs, or at least the modern ones, are too bulky and always the first thing I notice, so I’m glad your avoiding that.

Sketching some Emperors Children tones tonight. Going to have a mix of heresy era royal purple and Slaaneshi pastel pinks across the warband. I've never really worked with these colours much before so should be fun.

First world Eater is also almost finished. I haven't forgotten him. Should be able to photograph him in the next day or two.

That left hand is all personality. Awesome figure!

Thanks it's from the forge world Sigismund! I just have a love for open hands on space marines.

Another world Eater I forgot to post. Champ with power fist and power maul. I guess he could also be a dark apostle in a commanders role.

Finally finished painting world Eater number one. will probably take better photos later on.

If you are going for a Skalathrax theme, are you planning on doing a heavy flamer wielding Khârn?

Ah man, Kharn with the flamer would be amazing. That was one of my favourite stories from the old 4th ed codex.

3rd legion gimp. I love this head so much. Perfect emperors children. Used my Dremel to remove the pre sculpted helmet of the kakophoni body.

Also a couple of EC swordsmen.

The swordsmen really exude some of that elegance befitting of the III Legion. Nice contrast with the brutality of the World Eater Champ.

What do you think about converting some Kakaphoni heads to have lidless black eyes, like in that classic artwork.

Would love to see your take on it with your skill of painting faces.

Well I've converted a head with some big boggle eyes, so we'll see how that turns out.

You're making two really characterful warbands here QAR, great conversions. Really looking forward to seeing them all painted up, particularly the Emperor's Children, that is a really nice pink teased in the earlier photo

All-around lovely, and the base is killer. New Bane-faced guy looks good, too.

I love the gimp mask noise marine heads. I had 2 and wanted to make this one look different so I carefully dremeled the helmet away from the kakophoni model and connected the pipe to the mask.

Simply some of the best Emperor's Children I have ever seen. The conversion work, the painting and all set off by those glorious marble bases.

Thanks friend! I'm planning on making these guys into a unit for golden demon (if it ever returns) so I need to go all out.

I am sure it will return, you are well on your way.
