Having had a Dark Angel force I really like the Promethus, that bone colour looks so sweet!

I'm trying to not get any more DA models untill I get those ones done (unlikely) unless I actually need something for a list. I also want to go back and touch up my current DA army, which is around 7k points now that Ive taken out AoBR models.
I have a whole lot of BA and nids as well, plus some Tau (mostly Crisis Suits, and those are mostly FW suits) and some IG (Cadains and Elysians). A very few crons in there as well. Theres also a box of Codex Marine specific units (and the ones I have to repaint, like the TCF) and SW models (like the wolfen, some others), but if someone offered me a good deal, I'd trade those. I also want to jump on GK.

I figure I have an army I can play pretty much any size game with, might as well just model and paint what I want.

Boring version: green

Cheeky version: red like the gun mounts

Artistic version: cream colored like the insets on the body

Green is def out, its too boring for this one (maybe one of the other LR's though).
Im leaning to the cream/bone color.

If there was a vote, mine would be for the bone/cream colour.

The bone would give a nice canvas for weathering, soot and the like...

With cream, you could give it some subtle brown discolorations like the heat of the engines was affecting it.

Cream it is. What kind of weathering would you guys recommend? I'm pretty good at the stippling and washing, haven't tried much else.

And I went with the bone color with lots of weathering on it for the engine cover. I added some weathering to the other bone panels as well to make it match.



So, anyone have anything in particular they want to see next? There is a list a page or two ago that is still totally current. I do have to get a thing or two done for a tourny on the 26th.

The back looks really good, the weathering just adds that little bit extra to the whole thing. One of my personal things is the Ad mech decal has always looked good in black and white, so the red/white option you've gone for, while looking good made me look twice.

I have different color combo's for the Ad Mech logo depending on which Tech Marine is responsible for it. It would make more sense if I had more Tech marines finished, lol. The Stealth suits will be largly a test for color on my battle suits, especially the stealth without all the parts.

You know, I've never painted my mech symbols correctly... I should start doing that (I've been thinking about it).

Nope, going to build him from scratch with as much bionics as I can cram in. I did find an old techmarine figure that I just love however... but getting the bionics on it will be difficult. The build itself should be incredibly fun once I sort out my bits (have them all in one bag) and decide on the basing and posing.

Luckily I think painting all these guys will be pretty easy with a straight MW theme. Will have to do something interesting with the MoTF's paint scheme, but I won't know for sure what that is until I'm done with the build.

So despite the voting (all one of em), I had to get some termis done for a event this weekend. So I did. Figured might as well batch it up, even though I only needed the apothecary.

Like the termies, have you given em a wash yet? or do you leave the deathwing white pristine?

I like the red on the Inquisition symbol... really makes it stand out. I'm with BLACKHAND, they look a little flat... perhaps some lining of the seams with a dilute sepia?

Great work as usual bud, maybe a light wash would help things POP I really like the poses and the blood on the power fist and knee of one fellow in particular. I can almost see the well practiced seried of blows occour in my head that would leave such lovely stains

They got a wash of Calinthian Brown (the foundation) and look much better in person. Once I get Gits marine done (some day) they are done in the same way as the robes, hopefully his photography skills will show it better. I might go with some battle damage ala the land raider engine cover on them as well.

Gits - I really like the wat the ][ logo came out as well, I think that's going to be my new sop for them
Tony - The blood is supposed to be his heraldry more then actual blood (hence why not any spatter on his leg or hand) and there is also that pattern on his butt plate. I want to make guys more individual, but am not good enough at freehand to do a good job. Don't get either Herodrule from FW direct, they go for much less on eBay brand new.

I think you sell yourself short friend. You paint better freehand than I could ever EVER! hope to.

I'm currently working on modeling TheChronoTrigger's Termis I'm trading him, and painting those stealth suits. I have 1 that I was trying stuff on, and one that I tried what I am thinking will be the colors finished, but will need some major input, pics later tonight (hopefully).

1st time going through your blog WM, you can definitely see improvement in your painting and modeling skills. Keep up the good work, i really like the way your nids are looking. Also you LR turned out great, i like the weathering on the back side, have you considered making it that weathered throughout the model?

Thanks for taking the time to cruse through. Yeah, my painting is worlds better now then when I started. I'll eventually go back and touch up or repaint the old stuff. Someday. Mostly due to pushing myself in the GMS to send out cool looking things to others. There is a fair amount of weathering on the tank, but it doesnt have the color (Graveyard Earth and some washes on the bone, followed by Boltgun, then Mythrel) before the metal, which I really like. I've got to start doing it on the other colors, makes it really pop. Not sure on the color though, it was easier on a light color, not sure what to do on a dark one. Thraka Green maybe? I'll mess around on the Marine going to Gits

I'm becoming a big fan of the sponge weathering technique, but it all depends on the kind of weathering your going for. I'm also messing around with splattering and graphite.

I want to try sponging, but cant stand to touch the stuff, so thats out

Try wearing latex gloves whilst you use an elastic band to wrap some sponge round the end of a pencil. Then you won't have to touch the sponge
