After I get Gits MWs done (Ive got till end of month so he has time to paint em) and the bases on the 3 stealers, I'm going to open the polls for what I do next, especially as none of my friggin eBay FW nids have gotten here yet.

I guess I can put up the options now, plenty of vote time then, and it will keep the blog alive for another week. I'll work on this while finishing up the few remaining GMS trades from 2010.

Quick review of Instant Mold (sorry, no pics due to ip reasons).

I tried to use the Instant Mold product that is all the rage last night, just to see what happens. First I tried selected a piece I need more of. Lets call it a combination superheated air gun compatible with 28mm models. I had left a bit of the sprue on for excess to travel into. Followed directions on the instant mold package, and made a 2 sided mold. The only problem I ran into was getting the 2 sides apart, gotta remember to put some sort of release agent on em next time. I used the BB trick to make sure they line up right. I used some of the GF9 "Brown stuff" that I had just chilling. It worked ok, but wasn't able to pick up the level of detail that I would want on a model. It would be good for making a base or perhaps a shoulder pad. Something with small details (like the vents on the CSAG) might be too much, they seem to of just gotten mushy. There is also a TON for "flash", which I think is the problem. If you could figure out the exact amount of GS (or BS in this case) I believe you would get better results as you could make the bond tighter between the two pieces.

Cheers WM, it sounds from your review and Gits that the Instant Mold picks up enough detail but its the GS or BS that doesn't fill the mold properly, can't wait to hear how resin does.

Haven't had time to venture further into the Instantmold chronicles yet (I'll get there), but I have managed to rebase all but 3 of my GMS marines, all of my termis, bikes, speeders, and HQs, and about 2/3 of my PA marines to match my table and other armies. I also got the 3 genestealers finished up, and even took pics!





Ive got more pics uploading right now, which I'll either post tomorrow or when someone comments Stupid auto appends.

It has both a Heavy statline (In IA4, which I picked up already) and an Apoc statline. The Apoc stats are pretty cool, you can check it out in Army Builder.

Anyways, I started working on the outside, and am thinking it is way to plain to be the "Command Land Raider" its supposed to be. Problem is, I dont have a set "Command" that will be riding in it, so I cant just personalize it. Heres the ideas I have thus far come up with:
Lots of bone/red/black/silver color on the out side. Maybe something like one of the LR in IA4?
Lots of the FW DA Brass?
Attempt at some free hand?

It's the auto append... didn't even notice it. Go for the brass first, then consider free hand.

I was thinking the brass, applied en force, and the lowest panels on the raider being bone (like my deathwing)

Looking good - also missed it due to auto-append. Do a Git - PM one of your friends who are online to "bump" you before posting pics! (unless it's been 24hrs - in which case it won't auto-append - I don't actually know what the auto-append time frame is...)

I think it's generally 12 hours, but some people seem to manage to post 2 or 3 times in a row quickly without it occuring, which is irksome as hell when I notice it

The brass with the bone panels sounds good, then see if you want to add some freehand.

Dang, makes me want to buy a LR! How much of that detail will you be able to see when it is all put together? It seems a shame to cover up such effort

FW brass is the way to go if you want to personalize the tank, no matter how good you may be at freehand, that little 3D edge really makes the detail stand out.

And don't get me started on how annoying Auto-Append is! Ah well...

Unfortunately, most of it will rarely be seen, if even. Regardless, it was a fun exercise.

Also, got the roof panel finished, but all my photos were crap, so I'll get more later this week.

Got the hull mostly finished up. I need some advice (again) though. The engine cover. I have no idea what color to make it. Any ideas? (didnt take any pics of it as it is just black atm)

Other suggestions welcome as well.

You should sow a pic of the engine cover so we can see it in context with what you've done already.
