...who would you be least/most upset about?

For me, least would be Necrons and most would be CSM because I play them.

I would be least upset about Dark Eldar but that's just because they are old right now and most upset about Orks because they are my favorite race in 40k

Least upset about Necrons. I think their fluff is lame.

Most upset about Eldar or Orks.

Yeah, Orks are pretty awesome. I can't see 40k without them.

I actually prefer Dark Eldar over regular Eldar. Too bad they haven't gotten any love in a long time.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over seeing the Dark Eldar scrapped but it would piss me off if Nids were taken away.

Least: blood angels, space wolves, templar &/or DA (if all the chaaos legions can use one book so can the loyalists)

Most upsetting would be tau, they were my first army and what brought me into the game

I think they should just have the BT, BA, DA and SW entries in the Space Marine book like the old CSM codex had individual sections for Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Nurgle.

I'd be most distressed if they discontinued Dark Eldar. They were my first army and once they re-release them I intend to go back to them as my main 40k army. I'd be least concerned if they just amalgamated all the Loyalist marine codexes into one big super codex. With alternative rules included for every first founding chapter. Maybe do something similar for the chaos marines book to flesh it out more.

If they dropped Necrons or rolled Chaos Daemons back into Chaos Mairnes I wouldn't bat an eyelash. If they dropped Orks I'd be pissed though, since for once there's a really well supported xeno race with an entirety of plastic options.

Least, Blood Angels. In fact I'd probably jump for joy.

I'd be pretty pissed if they removed any of the other armies though, it just wouldn't be WH40k without the rest of 'em.

If they combined Blood Angels and Dark Angels into Codex: Angels of Death I'd be pretty ecstatic.

That would be pretty cool. In my experience I've seen a lot more people playing BA than DA. Hopefully a change like this would lead to more people playing DA.

Wow, this thread could really be titled "which army do you play / never played?"

All the unpopular armies are getting bashed on, and everyone is rushing to defend the army that they play.

In all seriousness, the only things I wouldn't be all that broken up about are the armies whose fluff isnt' great, and whose codex doesn't match 5th ed rules anymore, or who are blatantly redundant.

So, necron or DE could be dropped, but I'd rather they get retooled into a new, better incarnation. The only ones I'd actually drop proper are some of the SM chapters. The blood angels make sense as a highly choppy SM army, but everything else is just yet another shooty SM army with slightly strange rules. Not necessary.

I'd say Black Templars. It used to be "BTs get into combat really fast!" but now Blood Angels do that beter anyway. BT's could be cool if GW played up the Oaths aspect of the list, but these days, I do;t think they're keep on letting us spend points on FOC choices that don't have a model (or one that can be produced).

Other than that, I honestly don't want any army to be canned. Each one provides a unique challenge, and losing a race might drive its players out of the hobby, which is no good.

Not really. I've only ever played as Eldar and Marines, despite having always had a decent number of Orks for many years. Nevertheless, I'd be very upset to see Imperial Guard or Chaos gotten rid of. However, I still think of 'Nids as "new guys", and would not be sad to see them go. I quite like the Tau, as the idea of a new upstart race is cool. Necrons have no way of becoming a good part of the fluff, IMO, whereas Dark Eldar do, so although I do not like Dark Eldar now, I want them to stick around so that they can become good.

Other codices I would not miss, building on my original choice of Necrons: Black Templars (newbs, and very yawn) Chaos Daemons (as long as they merge back into a united Chaos book).

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I Do not want any going gone. To much fluff is relying on all races. It is just to late in the 40k span. If they drop DE for example what happens to the primarch lost in the DE webway.

Do not drop any but Yes to super Sm codex, and Refitting old armies.

So sad, everyone seems to hate Necrons :( I don't see how WH40k could get better by dropping any faction. Though I would like to see the =I=, SOB, and GK reworked into 3 separate codexes, but that's probably just a pipe dream.

I wouldn't like to see any dropped, but I would be a lot happier if several codex's were rolled up into 1 (all space marines in 1, csm + deamons in 1 ect). It would give greater variety to these armies and also speed up the rate in which other races can get updated

Least upset: Necrons. They're boring an irrelevant anyway.
Most upset: Eldar. Their design is as close to perfection as it can get. All praise to the Jes.

They can dump everything bar SM and eldar and I won't be put out.

I'll just play 'other games' with the models - like I always have.

Drop one of the many space marine codexes and I wouldn't shed a tear. In fact I'd smile a little bit because that's one less product cycle between the interesting codexes getting updated and another flavor of the month rule set for million and one grey plastic space marine armies out there.

Let's chuck out Space Marines of every flavor. Now the Imperial Guard become the beleageured defenders and Chaos Daemons are nibbling the edges of reality. Necrons with their T4 and 3+ save are scarier. But please save my Eldar!

I don't really want to see any of them go, but if I had to choose, I'd go with one of the Space Marine chapters that can easily be a small section in the vanilla codex instead of its own book. It wouldn't be perfect, but it could be done, and it'd pave the way for more updates for non-Marine codices.

I'd be most upset if they got rid of Tau - not because they're well written or because they're my main army, but because they have so much potential and need to be expanded upon.

I'd be least bummed out about Demonhunters. I have some grey knights and a bunch of Inquisitorial stuff, but I could use everything as something else.

I'd be most upset about IG. It's my largest army, and it'd be tough to use as anything else.

Least upset: Witchhunters and Daemonhunters, they don't bring anything new to the 40k scene other than female space marines and really special space marines.

Most upset: While I could say the same for DE they do bring something different in the way of super fast army but thats about it. Necrons, I hate the race but there needs to be more evil races that don't have a association with Chaos.
