Im just wondering when do you find the time for your hobby - it. painting, modelling ?
I've been extremely busy with college and Im also looking for work + writing thesis. It appears I can only start at about 11pm for an hour or two while playing some music in the background. It does have an enourmous relaxing effect on me after all day

what about you ?

I have a wife and a small child so my time is extremely limited. At the moment, I try and grab and hour or two when I can, usually in the evening when said child is asleep. I am trying to negotiate a dedicated hobby evening, at least for administration purposes anyway, when I can concentrate on some painting.

I normally struggle to get more than about 20 minutes painting time every couple of days. Occasionally I get a weekend where I can set most of a day aside to really crack on, but I'm lucky if that happens more than once every 2 or 3 months.

I tend to do a bit in the morning before work as I don't start until 10, and it's quite a nice way to prepare for the day. Other than that, it's whenever I can slot it into the evenings around sorting out the new place, my better half, etc.

Weekends and maybe an hour when I get home from work. My girlfriend works weekends while I'm off work so that gives me a few hours free.

As for playing, I game twice a week on evenings. One at a friends house the other at a games club in a local church hall.

Me and the roommates made a decision to get rid of the TV here in the house a few months ago.

If we watch anything it's a selected show.

So if we're not working, messing with the horses or doing schoolwork, we're usually painting.

Saturday mornings. The wife and baby are still asleep and im not at work.

During the day, or on Sundays, mostly.

I'm a house-hubby with no children to get in my way and/or try and eat my models (and no intention of getting any*). I have to do my painting and gluing and stuff while the wife is out (she has asthma and the glue fumes give her issues).



*Can't have them, WON'T have them. The church runs adoption and I'm too old to be an adoptive dad according to them.

Currently I only get to work on my dark angels the nights when my wife is working her evening shift, and every other weekend ... i might get all this mech built before i die...

I don't usually schedule any time at all. The only times I paint are if I sign up for a tournament. ThenI usually paint up new stuff at night the week before. I just assembly line it to passable standards, then do more details if I have time.

Making time for any of my hobbies is hard work alongside my work life and social life, as well as keeping the Mrs Happy.

I tend to get a few hours in on a Monday evening while the wife is watching TV, I'm not a fan of TV so when she's watching Criminal Minds or Master Chef I get some time to myself. May get similar on a Tuesday or a Thursday social life depending.

I do get to game pretty much every Wednesday as I host the games a my flat.

My painting and modeling time has taken a severe hit, as of late.

I still have one or two evening a week where I can carve out 2-4 hours for myself and my painting.

Typically late at night. I have lotsa school and work so this is the only time. Really, at the speed i capint i can only get one marine a night.

I'm a stay-at-home dad, so I have a bit more flexibility. I can sometimes grab a bit of hobby time when my son is napping. However, usually there are chores to be done, so all I can get is brief chances to check Dakka, TMP, and my Club's forum.

Asside from a club meeting every other week, most hobbying takes place after my son goes to sleep. I'll take my hobby tray into whatever room my wife is in (crafting or TV) and paint/prep there.

If I'm not very intentional about doing some hobbying when I have the time, it just doesn't get done.

When i get home from work I often do a bit of painting, and if my girlfriend isn't coming up for the weekend I can usually spend a good deal of it painting.

Same for me. Lucky for me, Mrs. Prime has decided to get her CFA at 36 so now after baby Prime is in bed, she studies and I hobby. I usually get 2-3 hours, 4 x week now. I've been getting alot of painting done

Currently the wife piece works late Mon.-Thur. and I can fit in about an hour, but most often I'm too exhausted from work and don't care to spend the energy on hobby..

Fri.-Sat. & occasionally Sun. I'm always tied up doing things with the wife piece and/or staying in contact with family and friends.

The only solid time that I have to hobby is Sunday nights, but even then it's a roll of the dice whether or not I'll have the energy.

I work at a record shop and I am great friends with my boss. So I can paint and work at the same time. Then I get home and paint some more.

Now my other job I can not paint but I do bring Dakka with me on my phone.

The first weekend of every month I work overnights at my part time job, I can usually get 5-7 hours in each night. Then the rest of the month it really varries, I get to sit with wife while a cut and build stuff and she watches TV.

The only time I get to hobby (actually get my hands on the plastic and paint) is after the kids are in bed... usually about 9pm. I try to be in bed by 10:30, so that's normally enough time to get into the middle of something important.

Luckily, I have a wife who doesn't mind if I disappear for half-a-day every month to get my league games in.

About 30 min-2 hr/night. I usually stay up until the wee hours of the morning doing work and take painting breaks. It depends on if I have the energy, and if there's a pressing need (like a tourney or commission) to get stuff painted.

i can generally get in a few hours on my days off, during the week, it really depends on how busy i am at work/how drained and lacking in the effort to do anything i am

I can usually get a few hours a night once the little bean is in bed. Rugby training was taking up a couple of nights and Saturday's but I'm getting old and sore now and starting to slack off, so more time and was possibly looking at going to a games club but little bean No2 due in a month will probably put paid to that.

The mrs usually doesn't mind me going to occassional games and tourney weekends so that has been the only time I actually play.

A little every day during my kids naptime and a little during the evening after they crash out. I don't game at all anymore so once I finish what I'm currently painting I may have to find a new hobby while I wait for my kids to get old enough to play.

Dakka at my day job. But right now I'm working 2 jobs and I'm gone from home at least 10 hours every day, up to 17 if I'm working both jobs at the same day. When I get home I usually have it in me to clean models, clip from sprues, mold lines, glue, etc for about and hour and a half one out of every three days. On the days that I only work one job and don't have plans with my time off I usually sit with my models for 2-4 hours painting or otherwise working on them.

Everyone's got time sinks in one form or another. Just gotta make some time for the kits.

I work on nights and my job is mundane... I paint at work for a few hours a week. I get called a nerd sometimes but its worth it to be doing it while working =]

Really whenever after school.

When Im on Dakka = when Im working on warhammer stuff , usually assembling and prepping

I manage about an hour or so every night when I've got my painting mojo on, otherwise, I've got sundays as a dedicated Warbarby day...I like to throw on The Shield and listen to Vic Macky beat down crime while I paint my endless runs of damn chimeras!

I go up to my local GW on a saturday for games and general socialising quite often, but I mostly paint and model on the sunday after work for the week, it relieves a lot of boredom, relaxes my mind and gives me something to do with my one day off.
