Well I sat down this evening with the intentions of starting work on a true scale SM for a buddy of mine. Everything started off well, gathered my termi bits and started bulking out the torso and filling in the legs with some GS when I decided some plasticard accents were required on the lover legs to give it an almost platemail feel! About 3 seconds into the cut I slip... Let's just say that the entirety of the hobby knife was burried in my middle finger. 45 minutes later the bleeding stopped and my living wife reminded me that I'm 28 and such "boo boos" no longer require kisses... Let's just say that when all things were finished I am now even angrier when I flip people off and my attempt at a TS marine has the most realistic blood paint scheme ever!

Mental note: add more band-aids to the hobby/first aid kit

Nah, I seem to recall WM posting his modelling injury pics. It's the done thing these days

And I don't believe there's an age limit on receiving kisses for 'boo boos'. Think you should check the small print on that one

I'm going to move ahead and either work on standard bearer Samus or company champion vig. I didn't like the old vig that I made so I tore it apart. Also I'm going to attempt to make a mould just as a test to see how it works. Once I get a spear/halberd design I like I'll try to make some extras since I'll need more than a few. Also I will try to cast some extra shields using the mould that Blackhand gave me along with the shields ( thanks again BH) I'm thinking of trying to make a few little designs out of GS and making a few press moulds for dupes of those. Or I may just end up putting together a desk bed with a built in desk for my daughter.... Maybe both

Trust me Vig, I've torn the old Tony apart and rebuilt so many times it isnt funny. They used to call me Anthony but that changed with the latest rebuild If I decide to tear down and rebuild again I'll end up just as "T" or "Ny" and thats not ok

I went from a homeless, jobless lump to being happily engaged with 2 youngsters and gainfully (well maybe not that last part) employed. I am truely glad to see you back Vig and I hope that your recent life changes allow you to come around more often. I miss the insight and all the amazing sketches.

As for bloody finger pics, you guys are out of luck. I took none at the time and I dont plan to Blood bothers me a bit. As soon as I get the chance i will post pics of yet another dread conversion I've been working on. I'm going to try to post it before bed tonight!

Thanks to some rather frank "insight" I've decided to scrap the tread dread completely. I guess I didn't realize how it looked until it was pointed out to me. I think I'll just stick to a more basic design. Maybe I just need to stop listening to other people Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go ahead and try to remove the bitter taste of criticism from my mouth

Got bored last night and watched the robocop movies again for the.... 10000000000 time and figured I would make my own version of everyones favorite hall monitor

Good ol' ED 209

Obviously I'm not going to make an exact replica mostly because I cant, but if anyone asks it's because I want it to be unique

Here's ED 20mine (get it? I know Horrible )

and

Please excuse the "light box" It truely is the only place in the house I can find any sort of peace with 3 kiddos running around. It's very much a WIP, and going to get plenty more TLC. Let me know what you think and believe it or not I would appreciate some insight! Thanks!

I'd think the ironclad leg plates, or some plasticard ones.

I think I would use the leg plates for "ankle" plates but not sure what for the thigh and shin areas.

Not a great fan of your Dreadnought with chicken legs, but I suppose it gets some thumbs up for bringing chicken-legged-commical-death to the enemy.

I must apologize for more or less abandoning this project.. but I've been busy. I 'spose I'll get onto writing more special characters if you start making more models.

After going ahead with a black basecoat for my marine I realized that my paints are a bit too old and thick. So either I get new paints or someone tells me a good way to thin them out without ending up with a batch if washes

Slowly add water, mix, test, repeat if needed. Turning them upside down from time to time helps too.

Gonna agree with WM.

Also, I'm no painting expert, but on the rare occasion that I do paint, I always thoroughly shake my paints.

Thanks guys, I'll add water and shake. I added an agitator to them too so now they sound like mini spray cans I do need to pick up some gold and flesh tones. I may try NMM but not sure yet, that's a bit beyond my skills.

The 'arms' on ED-209 look very much like the arms on the new forgeworld comptemptor dreadnought (ie storm bolter mounter inside what would be the palm of the power fist), still too expensive buy the parts direct but the pictures on the forgeworld site might provide inspiration.

I love that forgeworld dread, if I run a dread with my army it'll prob be a rifleman style if anything. Ed was more a "hey I'm bored and have extra bits" project. I'm thinking of rebuilding his arms from the shoulders down for his ranged weapons.

Believe it or not I was a busy little monkey last night and I built a Dreadknight and magnetized the CC weapon options and set it up so that the ranged weapons are able to pop on and off so I can change them out when I feel the need. Who knows I might even take a pic or two!

Any left over Dreadknight armour plates could be used for your dreadnought (who I really want to call FRED-209, Ed's older brother)
