A friend and I were playing warhams for the first time, using both my armies. We didnt play with objectives and we only had two meganobz, so we proxied a pile of guns, nades, clips, and landmines on a termy base as a maganob

Yes but perhaps just against a close mate, in any other circumstance I'm sure most people would ask if you were serious before calling for the men in white coats if you tried to field an army like that

I played Fantasy with mostly squares I printed off in the proper formation with dice as counters for how many extra guys were left. I had painted front ranks, but saw no damn point in building, painting and buying more guys just so they could die to fill out the ranks. No one ever complained, not that I cared about tourneys or anything.

I once saw in a thread some kid make a Hierophant Bio-titan out of tin-foil and use it in an Apoc battle.
I recently played a count-as-Necron army with my tyranids. Used genestealers as warriors, raveners as wraiths, ripper swarms as scarabs and my carnifexes as spyders. I was just trying out the new necrons to see how they play, but now it looks like I may have to build up an army myself.

Well, you have to give the person credit for collecting 100 appropriately sized bases, that's about $100 bucks right there!

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

I don't know if that's being artistic or being cheap.

Hehe, no worries. Can't believe I didn't think to post it in here earlier. Then again, does that really count as proxying? I like to think the guy that made 'em is being artistically cheap. I dunno if he ever painted them though. I hope so too!
Best bit is, if they're made of GW sprues, they're technically Tournament Legal 'cause they're 100% GW parts.

They're tournament legal as an army built from Codex: Bits of Sprue. Anything else is relying on the TO having a sense of humour.

They're 100% Ardboyz legal though, as the req was at least 50% GW

They fit the second part, but not the first. And no amount of rules lawyering the tournament conversion rules is going to get you past a TO who decides that you're just trying to be obnoxious.
Just to be clear, I have no problem with these. I think they're awesome. But trying to pass them off as 'tournament legal' on account of being built from GW sprue is a stretch.

That's fine, wasn't trying to imply otherwise. We were told at both prelims and Semis that the only req was they had to be at least 50% GW. Note that's why I only brought up ArdBoyz, because normal tourneys run differently
