Had a few guys like this at our store.
1. 16-18yr old kid played with a pile of junk claiming they all had specific weapons then the weapons would change mid game. He's been playing a while and knows his book he just flat out cheats.
2. A guy at last years Ard Boyz showed up with a half built GK army non wysiwyg, his opponent did full realize til mid way through the first match since things were reserved. The TO allowed him to play in the tournament simply because we would've had an odd number of people. He also ended up winning.
3. A buddy of mine, great guy, just doesn't keep up with the FAQs or fully read his codex. Then when kindly let him know about these rules he becomes furious, he has tossed his stormraven even his entire army at walls smashing them to bits.

I may have been that guy some times. I won't lie I will some times ask what army the other guy will be playing but only in the general sense. If I know your playing nids im not going to take a ton of melta because the game will be one sided and that's no fun for me. Im also not going to spam the exact right unit to beat your army. Im going to try to make a mix that will give me a chance to win without taking it so far that the game can be decided by the end of turn 2. Oh and for me TFG is a kid that can never remember his armies rules and has beaten me several times by having his stuff do things it couldn't. I know know more about Grey knights and dark eldar then I need to because of double checking his rules.

The Magician - Rolls dice to hit, oscures with hands while counting hits, and then picks up "hits" and rolls for damage, declares wounds, and then picks up dice, all without you ever seeing the results.
The Astropath - Watches you play game, and challenges you to game after you finish. Then shows up with army specifically tailored to defeat yours.

Also, the "Holy gack that's overpowered" guy.
There's this one guy at my local store, I played him at Warmahordes with my Everblight list. I beat him, and he starts to complain how "warbeasts are overpowered" because they can take so many attacks in a round. I tried to explain that they're more expensive, have lower def/arm, and once warbeasts are dead your 'lock is basically useless on his/her own, but he wouldn't have it.
There's this other guy who plays MTG, who regularly decides that it's his duty do declare that a card should be "banned" because it is OP. He's also told several guys they shouldn't play their decks because they're unfair.
Forgive me for not getting this mindset at all.
IF IT BEATS ME IT IS OP, RARRRRRRR!!!111!!!eleven!!!

I got one guy I'd never play against, meet him at a 5th ed tourney. Guy played old crons and was losing every game, he complained and moaned and everyone hated him and everyone was warning me not to play him. Well lucky me last round I play him and did not want to. I asked the manager if I can just back out and give him the auto win, since I wasn't going to place and either was he since he was in last place. The manager replied "If you beat the dog gakk out of him, all buy you a box of warriors" so challenge accepted. Took out my fluffy Flesh Tearers and his complaints start rolling in, then throughout the game rules layering and complaining some more and cheating. So I fired back with insults and stuff and phased him out in an objective game. Got my box, told him he was a terrible person, and laughed.

Another variant of TFG that we should all hate that I just ran in to last night when I went to start reeducating myself as a general and not just a painter/modeler/collector.
Mr. Grabby Hands - Not only picking up a model without permission but usually it's your unique/rare/expensive model (in this case my $15 Raging Heroes model that I use for a counts as female commissar that sports a $20 paint job courtesy of a friend of mine who is definitely an artist in our hobby and has the awards to prove it) and when Mr. Grabby picks it up he picks it up by the blood model instead of the base.
This particular player was a weird combo of TFG and the good version because while he was grabby, made some weird joke, etc he did help me and the other two newbies I was working with churn through the rule book and get back to where we could play properly. Course when he wasn't being useful he was asking if I'd trade any of my Guard for Tau or trash talking my SoB. I get it, you don't like the Sisters, obviously I do, so can it.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

Some people are flat out socially slowed. Or take a hobby/game too seriously. Unfortunately, it comes with the territory. Its the reason why I dont get out to play that often.
There is one guy at my local shop who is the High And Mighty type. Just brags and brags about his stuff, but as soon and you mention yours he just snorts and ignores you. He walked by a game my friend and I were playing, and made a crack at some of his custom models. "Im not gonna ask". My friend said something polite, and the guy replies "Im not asking because I dont want to know" and walks off. I have a strong suspicion I will threaten him with physical harm one day.

I played one guy back in 4th Ed 40k who moved the terrain around before the game to better suit his shooty army (my army was CC based). His army was all in cover & I had to cross about 8-10" of open terrain to get to him from the nearest cover and there were long shooting lanes where he could see across the entire board. I was quite young and new to the game at the time (he wasn't) so didn't question the set up.
About a year ago I played a guy who had 3 HQs in his SM list. I didn't notice until half way through the game. Also, he dropped a drop pod behind my lines which scattered off the table and he tried to argue that it would land 1" away from the edge and not mishap.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Maybe because in his local area the guys who tend to run those lists double as some kind of all star tosser team? Anything is possible, you'd have to admit that running into a few guys who run lists with whatever hotsauce said was cheesy who double as TFG would sour you to those lists, and lead to you labelling them in negative ways? Its perfectly understandable. Even more so if there are no nice guys in the area running similar lists to 'redeem' them, then all of your experiences against those lists would just flat out suck, which would really help associate those lists with all sorts of negative what-nots.

I've had a few incidents myself mostly rules lawyers who are wrong lol but the worst thing I hate are people who are A) Sore losers and B) Whine
Seriously I've had people look like there about to cry when they lose and start complaining and raising hell when someone asks if I won. I myself try to not be TFG I'm usually nice 99% of the time and rarely pull dick moves though we all have and I regret them all looking back :( but some people man. When you spend 2 hours playing a game to win and you finally do you should be able to be happy and brag a little I'm not saying throw a fething party but if you joke around there is nothing wrong with that.
I also hate people who make lists play you then complain all game about there list (whether this is a new army/list/unit) please STFU your opponent is putting in a ton of time investment in playing this game if you are losing congratulate him have fun with it if you know its not your fault. If I spend 2 hours playing a game and at the end of it I feel like I wasted my time to the point it was neither competitive or fun then you are again WASTING MY TIME.
EDIT-
I also can't stand people who call lists cheesy constantly or WAAC serious as long as its legal who cares (unless its space wolves then screw them) If I seriously played powderpuff crap lists all day I'd blow my brains out with a bolter.

As people have said, if youv invested time and money into your hobby, your allowed to want to win, and feel good when you do. But theres a difference between a little cheer to yourself, congratulating your opononent/shaking hand, and general good sportsmanship vs say, being a total donkey cave. The one i cant stand is the guy who beats you once, and then for ever on sneers at the person they beat and act all "lol your beneath me because i radomly rolled a 6 at the right time once". THAT pisses me off more than anything. Il congratulate you if you win, offer some advice on kicking my backside if you lose, but seriously, dont drag it out. Unfortunately, several times.
It's one of the reasons I no longer play 40k (the others being the game now bores me after 25 years, and my army has to keep getting larger in order to play games of the same points size and that one of my armies is in dire need of an update.).

Yea but at least you did win. And he made a comment in a positive way that he knew.
I have not played magic since 95. I go to my LFGS to paint and buy product. Maybe a game of 40K if I am feeling well.
2 months ago at my LFGS I seen one person get so overheated on a game that he turned over the table he was playing and stormed out of the store.
The man was at least +30 plus in age. His opponent was close to that age as well.
It was just ugly.

I've never seen anyone flip a table, but I'd pay good money to see it (and catch a video of it on my phone)... as long as my models weren't on the table... LOL.
I must be incredibly lucky or easy going because I have been a part of 3 different FLGS in 3 different states as well as travelling to tournaments all around the west and NEVER come across anyone who I would not play again. I have always been able to understand and get along with people though, and I don't care if I lose a toy soldier game so even if I do run into the TFG rules lawyer he doesn't get me down... take your win, just be sure to vote me favorite opponent for putting up with your attitude...
One of the things that helps me maintain that attitude is that if you are being a pain in my ass during a game, most likely karma will bite you and I'll get you anyway...

1. Looked down on other players not taking the time to paint, but couldn't be troubled to learn the rules
2. Complained about the rules, then suggested house rules that gave their own army advantages
3. Every rule or terrain interpretation was to their advantage
4. Whined about everyone else's army being broken
5. Complained if the other person used strategy or tactics
6. Complained if anyone won because 'it was just a game'
7. Whined about dice rolls because they didn't understand basic math: "My saves were terrible, I failed 1/3 of my SM armor saves!"
8. Moved units far enough that they covered more distance over a couple turns than was required to be between armies from the scenario when deployed farther than that distance (e.g. two 6" moves and a 6" charge covering a 21" gap between the armies)
Not a single one blatantly cheated, but in any situation where there was a borderline judgement call on distance/cover/etc. they always insisted on the one that was to their advantage strongly as if the other person was trying to cheat them (it was more noticeable when watching two other people play).
While it may sound like it was just a difference of opinion, it was not as I generally let the other person have their way even if I disagreed because nit picking wasn't going to turn the tide of the game. I was just disappointed that they were such poor sports, and it was obvious why they never improved their strategy or tactics when they blamed everything on the game, the armies, or the other player and thought anyone that planned ahead was unsporting.
I'm hoping the pool of players has changed, but the scene could be dead as well.
