Been Around the Block

I noticed this competition too late, but it interested me, just half a year ago I planned one project that I always “put off until tomorrow,” stupid procrastination.
I don’t have enough motivation.
Next month I will join the 32nd contest to finally finish my terrain project.

Villoy, definitely get in here, the more, the merrier!

Okay, I've just uploaded a bunch of photos and PM'd Thumpingbear a link. Good luck in the home stretch, everyone!

Hi everyone, finally got settled back at home. Apologies again for being absent, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Had a very nice 2 week vacation, then the prairie weather gods decided to blizzard while I was driving home, it was great. Would recommend if you like the colour white and nearly doubling your trip duration.

Josh and DJ, very saddened to see you had to bow out. It's understandable though, I hope you both finish your projects!

Villoy: Please do! I found the contest was an incredible motivator to stick to one project without any distractions. Plus, as MacPhail said, the more the merrier!

Syro, CB, and MacPhail, I've received your entries, and have responded to your questions. Well done everyone, I'll announce in this thread when I set up the public poll.

Alrighty, after a slight delay the results of the Public Opinion poll has decided Captain Brown as the winner, congratulations!

Now onto my pick for the winner, but first some comments and critiques on your pieces:

Syro_: Very nice starting material, and the glowing cracks on the base look really good, hinting at the power that's driving the structure out of the ground. The lighting also looks excellent and is perfect for Necron terrain. The body of the structure could've used some more detail - cardboard panels would've broken the body up nicely and added visual interest.

Captain Brown: Excellent work, those Iron Hands tutorials are great. The lighting inside sells the effect of piece as a generator. Great paint job with some lovely weathering. The crenelated top could've used a bit more detailing, it looks a little plain compared to the rest of the structure - rivets would've been perfect.

Macphail: I'm a sucker for megalithic structures, so this one really tickled my fancy. Lovely carving on the broken aquila and fleur de lis, and a very realistic stone paint job. The column bodies could've used some detailing, some fluting like on ancient Greek columns would've looked great.

Again, great work by all of you.

My choice for the winner of the LoER Terrain Contest Round 31 and newest inductee into the League of Extraordinary Riveters is Captain Brown. Loads of detail on the piece with a smart paintjob that contrasts the orange of the rust against the turquoise of the structure. All in all it's just obscenely gothic and dirty, as all Necromunda terrain should be. Well done and congratulations!

So that wraps up the contest. Thanks to you all for participating, and I hope to see you all in the next round!

Thank you everyone. I guess I need to set up the next challenge shortly.

I was thinking something to do with front line medical/first responders or something similar...medical tent/re-animation chamber/Painboy table/hospital/field hospital/apothecary's shop/crypt/etc.

Or does somebody have a great idea as quite a few have been used already.

Cheers,

CB

I like your idea of a medical theme to honor first responders.

That does seem to fit. You could expand it to include the materials too, like pill bottles, oxygen tubing, tongue depressors, swabs, gauze, etc.
